would love to see this again but with the small teams and individual riders who dont have the big team budgets behind them ..and who are also vital to the sport progress... they need as much support and attention if not more so...... i know a couple of riders in xc who train and travel and while not in the top 15 they still turn up travel the globe to race a sport they love ....

I’ve only started watching professional DH in the past two years so I’m still a relatively new fan, how do privateers stack up standing wise? Has one won a recent WC or even a recent individual race?

The biggest difference between the 2 is paycheck. Bruni and the top echelon of riders earn millions and privateers earn nothing. It would be like comparing the USA to Costa Rica.

It’s not a Dirt bike or a Motogp bike. why do you need factory support for just a frame, suspension and tires. Seems a little ridiculous for just a bicycle.
@franklee6301
@franklee6301 2 жыл бұрын
Dh bikes cost more than a moto and there's far more to it than just the bike which you'd understand if you had watched the video.
@JoeGeez100
@JoeGeez100 2 жыл бұрын
@@franklee6301 I watched the entirety of the video and still can’t see how at the pro level you couldn’t just put the money in to buy the best bike possible. It’s not like there’s much technical data being used like there is in Motogp or Monster energy Supercross. All you need is a solid frame, suspension, rims and tires. Someone said a privateer would do 10x better on a factory bike, I doubt it. There’s not as many components that would leave room for improvement. DH bikes do not cost more than motocross bikes. A factory 450 motocross bike can cost as much as $50,000-$80,000 plus. Makes sense it has an engine.
@veldhuisracing
@veldhuisracing 2 жыл бұрын
@@JoeGeez100 I think the biggest part is in the support around the riding. A rider can focus 100% on their riding when training or doing races, this is probably not the case with the privateers. The budget for training for factory riders is probably also a lot higher. I agree with you that the difference in the bike probably doesn't make a difference.
@franklee6301
@franklee6301 2 жыл бұрын
@@JoeGeez100 Joe you absolutely missed the point of the video. It's really not about the bike so much as the financial support and team effort that helps factory riders. The ability to train full time verse working to make your way has very obvious benefits. I'm actually dumbfounded that anyone could watch that video and not get these very clear advantages.
