Sara Khan: It depends, if you heard an actual Indian or a pretender, people from Indian subcontinent (Pakistan, cough!) call themselves Indians so as to not get judged. If that person was indeed an Indian, then there are 1.3 billion of us, you really can't generalise anything about an Indian. Fun fact btw, if you ask any random person outside US, which language do Americans speak, pretty sure most would reply 'American' and not english, because what they speak isn't the Queen's language.

Why do we Indians get butt hurt when someone thinks we don't know English? English is just one more language after all. If we went to Korea and someone asked did you know Korean would we get offended? If I went from maharashtra to punjab and someone asked me do you know Punjabi or marathi would I get offended? I think we give way more importance to the language than it deserves. It's just one more language guys and knowing or not knowing it doesn't say shit about our capability. It's just an honest question and our ability to get butt hurt over it just shows our inferiority complex.

Most of d pvt offices are closed on sat and sun, and govt offices are open on Saturday, because... people who r busy on weekdays and unable to get their govt work done can go on Saturday and wrap it up....

It varies from state to state and period to period. The fact that she's only seen schooling in the late 80's and early 90's in a specific state and now works as an actor may be the cause of her saying that even Saturday is work for most of India because that is all she has seen and is seeing.

@@tithiprajapati2224 yes they are amazing also akshay Kumar's acting in kesari was great , but the Oscars mean something they need to have artistic importance , something very rare and also very deserving I'm not saying Indian movies do not produce that kind of movies but to be fair Bollywood hasn't made a lot of Oscar worthy films in the last 5 years also other film industry is ignored by the panel but at last there's an Oscar entry this year from mollywood - 'jallikkattu' which is very deserving and also a very diff approach and very artistic but If you ask whether they will win it depends on the politics

I'm so sad that people are so rude .she literally has made India proud a million times. Every single foreigner appreciates her and still in every comment section there will be some Indian with rude comments. Truly we Indians dont deserve her, we are taking her for granted for so long. She is not just a beautiful face but an extremely smart and talented person who have inspired millions across the world and she is a symbol of women empowerment. many people are discussing here about the weekend stuff what she said was wrong & does not agree with. I completely agree to her because I have studied in a school which use to have half day school in Saturday & off in Sunday and also in my college time, yeah but in college no half day it was full day working day & we see this stuff in govt. jobs too, so no concept of weekends. And closing in Sunday only doesn't make it a weekend. But this concept does not applies to every Indian school, every school have different rules. OK forget about this, many haters or commentators are just discussing and debating about the weekend concept or about 10% stuff in this interview but no one applauding her for that Amitabh bachchan thing that she said and how she shut the mouth of her fellow companion in the Oscars, damn, yahi batata hain ki buri baat bolne ke liye bolo toh sab aajate hain par tareef karne ko kaho toh saalo ki maa marti hain 🙅🙅🙅🙅

English is still a foreign language in India. 89% of dutch people can speak english but its not their mother tongue, in other words, they would never speak in english with other dutch people, only when addressing foreigners. And in india its a similar situation. So yes, english is indeed a foreign language in india. It may be a relatively known language among the elites but it still is definitely a foreign language.
