Racism is made worse through a hyperfixation on race. DEI, diversity hires, college quotas, minority only buildings… these things aren’t a step in the right direction. Equity destroys equality and the confidence one has in their work. “Did I get the job because I’m skilled or because of my race?” That’s not something anyone should have to wonder. Asians are the most impacted these days on a professional level and whites are thrown in to this as being “inherently” racist. To be white is to have privilege. We are building up a culture where the norm is to resent white people. These behaviors only turn everyone off to having a conversation and then when people get upset, it’s “just another racist” getting loud. When I was growing up, we didn’t give a damn about who looked like what. As we’ve moved out of the late 90’s/early 2000’s and into the 2010’s, things started getting worse again. Don’t let politics exacerbate race relations. MAGA or leftist, we have more in common than we do in contrast. Republicans aren’t racists. Democrats aren’t here to take over the country. While there may be truth of this within the parties themselves, it is important to separate the voter from their representatives. If we want to go down that road, everyone is guilty. Washington is a mess and it’s because so many buy into the crap these people keep selling. Stop.
