The scanner of many names...GRE GRECOM PSR-100, RadioShack Pro-649 Radio Shack Pro-404 Whistler WS1010 WS-1010 200 channel handheld scanner. Originally a GRE scanner, sold by GRE under the GRECOM PSR 100 model and by RadioShack under the Pro-404 model...then Whistler took over when GRE went out of business...started selling the PSR-100 as the WS1010 series (there’s also a 400 channel version)...and RadioShack sold the Whistler scanner as the Pro-649. The Pro-404 and Pro-649 have interchangeable parts with the WS1010...at least the keypad is. See the example Prp-404 with a WS1010 keypad. Not a lot of mods out there. The Pro-404 was originally an upgrade to the GRE made Pro-82...which is a very minor upgrade from the also GRE made Pro-79 scanner. See the examples of the Pro-82 provided with backlight LCD display LED modification.

Thanks for a very informative video. Can I suggest that you turn the volume right down on the scanners when you're talking. It makes it difficult to listen to. Also having the radios on a soft surface because the clonking & thumping is very off putting through large speakers. It sounds like there's a thunderstorm coming🌩️🌩️⚡😂 Apart for that it's all good. A very informative video. You know your stuff. Thank you. 😎👍👌

very informative. glad i saw this video. i have a RS pro 404 I received as a gift. It was working great despite the fact I dont know a thing about scanners ( a friend programmed it for me). I was thinking about buying a better antenna for it but the local police station switched to digital and a friend told me I wont be able to listen in to my local police now . Since thats all i listen to, there is no point in owning one and selling it would be difficult as well ( for the same reasons)

The police in my area are digital too. The analog scanner can still be used to listen to non-public safety analog channels like business radio, railroads, aircraft or analog public safety channels such as interoperability channels...

@@R4002 thanks for the info. I assumed i would be able to find other stations but they dont seem as interesting. Ill check them out though. Thanks again
