The NBA needs to explain the metrics of an MVP! I'm conflicted because I feel like early on I was TEAM EMBIID, but after watching the games more and actually not letting the media dictate to me what I should or shouldn't think.. I've come to my senses! I'm TEAM JOKIC!
Let me now what you guys thought about this kind of video as well down in the comments! Let's engage!

@@samantharay6098 Oh it will. Don't underestimate NBA fans because they will haunt you down from the face of the Earth. If Jokic wins Finals MVP, Embiid will become the laughingstock amongst Nuggets and Jokic fans. Embiid took a shot at Jokic, therefore triggering Joker's fans to diss him at whatever chance they get. And you should understand them because the Joker is a quiet guy. It won't stop, trust me.

jokic has already essentially won finals mvp, ppl are going to have their fun shitting on embiid, and that'll be the end of it, most ppl dont really care about denver grievances anyway and ppl dont say charles barkley robbed jordan in 93, or any similar such thing. they will they remember it that way for this one too what ppl will say tho is that this is the year jokic took it out of the voters hands and left no doubt in the postseason, the season he forced everyone to acknowledge him as the literal best player in the league - something nobody has ever confused the MVP award with (as witness, ppl routinely leaving jokic out of the top 5 even after 2x d mvps - typical tho, nobody respects mvps) in short, this mvp is nigh meaningless, just like all the previous mvps and ppl know it the real narrative is that jokic owns the league now, not some already-stale nonsense about mvp robberies that dont mean anything anyway

@@MrVirus-xg1wu a barkley a year or 2 past his prime in philadelphia got traded to phoenix and then led them to the first seed in the west barkley had previously posted an MVP caliber season in 1990, where he had received the most first place votes, but ended up losing the mvp vote on points to magic johnson in what is still the closest mvp race on record, because barkley had gotten many 1st place and 3rd place votes, but few 2nd place votes, so magic, who had gotten fewer 1st place votes, won on the 2nd place votes he'd gotten. there was some controversy about that at the time where many felt barkley had been snubbed in favor of a more established star when 93 rolled around, despite jordan posting a historic season, instead of giving him his 3rd mvp in a row (and 4th overall), they gave it to barkley. i think the bulls were the 2nd seed in the east, and that was the justification at the time, and barkley's numbers were good, just not 93 jordan good many people felt the voters were rewarding barkley for 'waiting in line' after the 1990 mvp issue and looking back most people dont have a problem with him winning it and getting that respect on his name in the post season, barkley carried his team to the finals but was narrowly outmatched by jordan in one of the best finals duels we have, so it was ultimately clear from the playoffs who was actually the best player, even if barkley got the mvp he was still deserving, and he had to post one of the greatest games in playoff history to even get to the finals, going like 45/15/10 on like 75% shooting in a wcf game 7 vs the supersonics ofc embiid doesnt look nearly so good in the postseason but it is supposed to be a regular season award

He dislikes attention, isn't flashy, doesn't live in a mansion, doesn't use social media and keeps his private life private. During his time off, he rides horses and spends time with his family; he doesn't bang Instagram models or brag about his accomplishments. He also donates most of his money behind the scenes. Nick Wright has been on a campaign to hate on Jokic for the last three years, calling him the worst MVP ever the first time Jokic won the award. Now, with this playoff performance and people coming at Wright with receipts, he’s playing victim and going after him is unfair. Two clowns.

One of the stats Embiid was higher on is usage rate, which is actually not a good thing. It's one of the many brilliant things about Joker is that he does all this while not needing the ball as much.

the funny thing is they said that his usage is down on his last two years and that counted badly towards him. I mean what did they expect when MPJ came back and Jamal Murray come back his usage didn't have to be high. They also said his PPG were down from last two years but forgot to mention his APG was higher than previous two years. The only truth that they have said is that the goal post shifts to support narratives the media want to push.

I think people do t appreciate the difference in how their systems are/were set up. Joker can touch the rock at any point of the shot clock and get it back because the system is based on his passing. Also, without a second big man, you won't keep him off the boards. Joel is in an somewhat stagnant pick and roll offense and double team baiting because Joel is great 1 on 1. Even the Nuggets defensive system is designed to minimize Joker's exposure on defense. Conversely, if Joel doesn't play actively, then the 76ers' defense falls apart, and they have to out score teams.

Hey thanks for compiling your reaction for us to view. I had watched this same video a few days back and parts were lingering in my head. I appreciate your takes man it helped confirm some things for me🤣 Jokic is something new to the game. I watched some of his earlier games from this playoff in slow-mo. He is definitely athletic in a way people aren't used to. He's just playing into that bad take of him because it keeps making his opponents underestimate him. He grew up with two older brothers who probably beat him up every time he defeated them at anything. He's had to pick his battles carefully. Go watch him 1v1 Ayton when they played the Suns. He's battering into Ayton like a flailing angry bear ripping on a stuffed animal and Ayton is HUGE. You put your arms up as a defender and push back on him with your chest, but in the blink of an eye he's barrelled into you, brushed past you, scored the goal, and drawn a foul from your arms. OR worse, he passes it and you don't even notice. You're left standing there wondering what the hell happened. 😂

I’m a big analytics guy, given my primarily baseball background. But I will say that if you value analytics at all, Jokic is on pace to being at least a top 10 player of all time. He still has to win and play at this level for a while to reach that, but these last 3-4 years have been INSANE statistically. Just as an example: Jokic was worth 24.2 wins above replacement according to Raptor. Number 2 was Joel Embiid at 14.2. That 10 win gap was as big as the gap between Embiid and Anfernee Simons, who ranked 84th in the league at 4.2. It has been utter domination on a level rarely seen.

based on how much good analysis is available on KZfaq, I am here specifically for your opinion as a big man who's dream it would be to find success in the NBA. I would like to see you lean into that. Who were the big men you looked up to? Model your game after anyone in particular? Schematics of big man plays? I want more technical analysis of set plays and the options wihin those plays, etc. Make us feel what it's like to be a big man! Lean into what you do, make it natural but that will take work. He proved he didnt care about it when he didnt play at his usual high level down the stretch because they had the no.1 seed wrapped up and they were focusing on the bigger picture. Where as Embiid up his levels towards the end to take advantage of it. Probably why he got injured and once again failed in the play offs and threw his team mates under the bus as he always does

Will It takes a team to win championships! This whole MVP dominant narrative misses the goal and objective- be a great team Many people understand that Duncan knew that Isaiah Thomas knows that Selfish play and the me/ego narrative is awash without team! Every great player must have a good to great supporting cast- otherwise teams would just eliminate the best player and force others to beat them! Right? John Elway was a great player but better players and an elite running game got them B2B Super Bowl wins! As great and dominate as Shaq was - teaming with Kobe and DWade made them dangerous! I believe it’s what made Isaiah Thomas great and Jordan and magic (more Laker love)😅 Jokic wants his team to be better and he doesn’t need to be a great superstar He just needs to make his team better With that in mind- Jamal has answered the bell Jokic has challenged MPJ to be a great defender not just a scorer. Be more aggressive in other aspects of his game and the shits will come. Michael Cooper was such a great defender, and, he killed ya with that deadly 3 point shot ( any more Laker Love and I’m about to be sick) Jamal is playing great and that’s what great teams need to do Make each other better and not rely on one guy ❤❤❤❤❤

Not being awarded MVP is the best thing that could have happened to Nicola Jokić and the Nuggets. First of all he deliberately took his foot off the gas once the 1 seed in the West was confirmed, while Embiid stat padded and voter fatigued his way to the prize. Secondly there is a Serbian word "inat" which describes a national characteristic (for good and bad)..Hard to translate bur loosely its a cross between pride, not willing to be defeated, spite, and a thirst for revenge after being wronged....He's full of that right now. Under the radar of course.

There’s another key definition for “valuable” I don’t hear anybody making the connection with: every player the Nuggets let go of in the trade has become a smaller name but the reverse is true of the Nuggets’ acquisitions. - Aaron Gordon playing out of his mind - Bruce Brown got everybody shook watching him in the playoffs, not knowing he was That Guy before - KCP is officially The One That Got Away for the Lakers and the homegrown signings like Jamal and MPJ are breaking records and necks series after series! Now the reverse is true of their playoff competitors. After the Nuggets went through their towns: - KAT, Gobert and Ant all look questionable at best - KD and CP3 are questioned as liabilities, Booker don’t look clutch and Monty got fired! - and now AD don’t look like the DPOY god why everybody said was gonna crush Joker, 38yo LeBron suddenly looking like 38yo LeBron, and the whole fanbase got their pitchforks out on Ham and most of the team. And with the Sixers, … what has history shown us. Embiid’s undefeated in stats for: running away the most superstars, blaming his teammates when HE doesn’t prove most valuable in getting wins, having more fortitude to campaign for the title of being the best but not enough to actually show it in the critical moments in the season, and making previously-respected coaches look BAD. Oh and we can’t forget: biggest playoff stat drop-off in the playoffs by an mVp in history 📉, while Joker and Co’s are still peakin! 📈 How you gonna get worse, make everybody on your team look, feel and play worse (including your fellow MVP co-star), have LESS success in the playoffs but claim to be most valuable?? 🤔 Miami and Denver are the only ones I see that are making their players stock go up while embarrassing their competition. And Embiid has never really had that effect through a full season, so in a team sport, I really don’t get how in any way he can be considered the Most Valuable Player at all. But maybe my values are a lil different lol

Finally, the right topic, it must finally be explained how Embid got the MVP award, how and why?! In addition to Jokic's best season so far, but also in addition to other players like Janis, like Tatum, etc.. I hope that this will be talked about at a higher level, because Embid is NOT the MVP of this season and cannot be, ok the award for the best scorer, but here we are talking about the most useful player, I miss the games against San Antonio, Houston, Detroit... why did Nikola NOT get the third consecutive MVP, a question for all of you who participated in the voting and those who made that decision?! How?! Despite the racist attacks, this is unheard of! A huge minus for the NBA organization, now they will arrange for Boston to go from 0-3 to 4-3 and 5, which will be a sensation so that Jokic will not be talked about in the same way that there was more talk about the Lakers' defeat than about Nikola's incredible games..incredibly sneaky, but if FIFA set up the World Cup in football so obviously, then what is the reason for the NBA to give the MVP award to a player who does not deserve that award..

Never thought much of the Joker before this year, but my son has followed him for years, he even took me to see him play in DC. When he was on business in Denver he thought of getting a ticket to see him play. It wasn't until I saw him vs the SUNS that I notice. He's the real deal, I always like the Greek Freak (built like Superman) vs Joker, and Embiid got the sympathy vote. Now watching him exclusively to see if the 2time MVP can bring home a title. I've been AWAKENED too!

I get the weird ideas about watching him. When I 1st started watching Jokic a few seasons ago I was like WTF am I seeing? But I kept on watching and everything seemed to work when he did it. Ugly shot after ugly shot. Slow as a slug, can't jump, but his timing and touch just kills it. Then there's a "nut meg" pass and it's like woa who is this guy? But he keeps doing it over and over and over. The realization comes " he's awesome". He's clutch and a great dude can't beat that. Ya just can't beat that.

I like both of these guys. I lived a mile from Allen Fieldhouse when Embiid went through Kansas. It’s amazing how far dude’s game has come. Joker has some crazy skills that are not the pretty high flying skinny guy traditional bball skills. Who was the idiot that said his passes were slow? I’ve never seen a big guy with such hand coordination who uses volleyball like skills to get the ball where it needs to be. He also hustles more than any big man I remember. He isn’t fast, but he’ll usually get where he’s going before you do. It’s great seeing a guy use the skill set he has so well. The other thing I joke about Jokic is that he is like a bird in that he sees out of both sides of his head instead of using both eyes looking forward. Combined with his size he looks like an older brother playing with younger kids a lot.

Whether Jokic wins or loses the final... (for whatever reason) win or lose, his stats are scary and bordering on absurdity. I don't know where he'll rank by the time he'll retire. But what he has done so far is already historical. Breaking Wilt Chamberlain's 56-year-old. Not even the legendary Magic Johnson could do it. Became the first player in the NBA postseason history with a 30-point triple-double and 70% shooting in consecutive games. Another insane stat of his....His PER (Player Efficiency Rating) To put things in perspective, In 2021-22, Joel Embiid posted the 14th-best regular-season PER in NBA history. Giannis Antetokounmpo posted the third best. In 2021-22, Nikola Jokic posted the highest regular-season PER in Association HISTORY. His 32.85 PER puts him ahead of Wilt Chamberlain, LeBron James and Michael Jordan !!!!! Now, of course...And with all that being said, all these stats are nice but doesn't guarantee success on the long run, doesn't guarantee rings or MVP titles for that matter. (Embiid won even though Jokic had the better stats..At least in the assists and FG% Embiid had 54.8% while Jokic had 63.2%). And also, winning a ring is of course fantastic but it isn't everything. Many amazing players never won a ring in their careers. (Wilkins, Iverson, Elgin Baylor, Charles Barkley, Reggie Miller, Stockton and Malone etc...etc..)... So, it's hard to rank Jokic at this point in time and we'll see what he'll achieve next before his retirement. BUT... No matter what happens, we're witnessing an historical talent. PS: is Jokic boring though ? i guess it's subjective. Sure he doesn't dunk like LeBron, Jordan, Kobe... He's not fast but boring ? His passes, his court vision,...his circus shots are ridiculous. imo he's fun to watch. Not the fastest but super efficient. we can't take that away from him.

I don't think it's a "real" rivalry, in that they are not real equals, but I do think it is a productive rivalry, that they both inspire each other to be better and are both good for each other. What should Jokic do about his weaknesses? What about Embiid?

@@samantharay6098 Thank you so much for joining the family, glad to have you! Honestly for Embiid it's hard to really pin point one area because in every area he is pretty strong, maybe his playmaking could be better when stacking up against Jokic. For Jokic I would say defensively he could be better but it's hard for him because he is not the most athletically gifted so I think he does well with what he has. Great comment, thank you!
@samantharay6098
@samantharay6098 Жыл бұрын
@@wmackeyjr242 How would you compare Marc Gasol and Jokic as defenders? Gasol wasn't very athletic either although I think he was a bit skippier laterally when he was young. I feel like Jokic is still learning to defend with what he has, Marc Gasol did a lot more with his athletic limitations than Jokic does... feels like Marc had an innate genius for defense, whereas Jokic sees defense through his offensive IQ, which translates well, but sometimes he is slow realizing where he should be and gets cooked, and it's not just his footspeed. If he had Marc Gasol's positioning and timing, it might be enough to make the Nuggets a good defensive team rather than a barely sufficient one. Not sure if that can be learned, but he is improving year on year it seems For Embiid, I feel like he tailored his game for the regular season award, but can a center really be a first option mid range iso scorer in the playoffs? We have seen the post moves the drop steps the euro steps the drives of all descriptions from him, he is undeniably gifted and skilled, so why aren't we seeing that more in the playoffs, why does he settle for bad jumpers so much and fail to make passing reads? I do not think he can be a first option playing like that... his defensive impact was tremendous, almost as much as AD's in the West, but maybe he needs to be a 3rd option shooting only 10-15 clean looks a game... or do you think he can get into the paint more than he has been? Different coaching, different roster, different plays to get him there?

We the Nuggets fans don't care as well about the MVP. We want that first ring for the team. Plus this toxic discussion really made me want Embiid to win it, so he can shut up about being disrespected. He had a great season he deserved the award. Because of the reasons that Embiid received the MVP is the reasons he didn't deserve it. Well, he didn't deserve it because Jokic was the MVP also. Embiid won't shut up because he is jealous. I really strongly disagree that Embiid deserved the MVP. He did not deserve it. Jokic is the one who deserved it. The voters should be embarrassed that they allowed the anti Jokic narrative to sway their votes. They allowed Embiid's crying and constant promotion to sway them to vote for him when they could clearly see that Jokic was more valuable to his team winning games.

By the way Defensive help off the bench for nuggets is coming in Ismael Kamagaté They have draft picks with high ceiling in Peyton Watson and Christian Braun They will have a turnover next season as several players will either be traded or let go in a few deals to improve the team. Keeping the Band together in terms of the core players is Key! Murray, Jokic, Porter, AG, and KCP The Lakers legendary run was the ability to keep that team in tact as well It makes all the difference . They easily could have 7 spots open next year! That’s allot Does Jeff Green retire? Trade away Zeke Naji? A total failure Do they keep Thomas Bryant and hope he becomes the dominant big off the bench? Jackson? Stay, go, retire? Cancar? Probably gone Give more minutes to Watson and Braun Ish Smith, gone! We will need a two way PG/defender off the bench Connor Gillespie might be an option So after this year the Nuggets will be challenged to keep this team together and keep making a run.

Saying ridiculous things seems to be the modus operandi of most NBA commentators. On the topic of not being able to jump over a piece of paper, riddle me this: How can he win jump balls without being able to jump? Rather than saying he can't jump, it would be more accurate to say he doesn't often jump. That's probably because he sees it as a counterproductive waste of energy, and maybe even potential source of injury. He can dunk with ease, he just rarely bothers. He seems to prefer to win games than show off. I tried to find a any reliable report of his max vertical, and came up empty. It doesn't appear that he participated in the NBA Combine. I did find these rather hilarious quotes from his scouting report in his draft year: "...he doesn't have the speed burst to drive past opponents or stay in front of them laterally. It's going to give him major problems on defense and limit him to being a role player on offense." Oh yeah, role player, sure. 😆 "As a second-tier prospect, he may not be expected to produce much" 😆 "These deficiencies will be most glaring on the defensive side, where he'll struggle to keep up with NBA-caliber speed. Whether he's guarding power forwards or centers, he'll have trouble staying in front of them or consistently protecting the rim. He also won't be as effective on the boards as he is in the Adriatic League." Oh, yeah, confirmed, this guy can barely rebound at all. 😆 "The slow-footed tendencies will also hurt his chances to create offense. Even on closeout drives, his slashing will get corralled pretty easily by help defenders, and he won't be able to elevate over upper-echelon defenders." True, he got totally dominated by Anthony Davis in the Western final. 😅 "If Jokic can deliver accurate shooting and make the right plays when the ball is in his hands, he could be a poor-man's Diaw and a long-range threat like Antic. Jokic would probably be the fourth or fifth scoring option when he's in the game, but all that matters is whether he plays efficiently." Again, spot on. Jokic has proven to be a poor-man's guy-no-one-even remembers. 🤣 "Unfortunately, his defense will likely prevent him from ever playing 30-plus minutes or starting. However, there's no shame in being a respectable reserve on a winning team in the future." Hopefully, Jokic can be given some sympathy minutes in one of these playoff games so that he can hold his head up high. 🙃

Before the last few weeks of the season, Joel had missed several more games than Joker. Sixers were well over .500 without Joel. Nuggets well under .500 without Joker. I really believe that had Joker played in all the games the last few weeks, he may have won. He bailed out the voters.

Nikola Jokic is the true Champion cause a true Champion is taking a crown, he is not given a crown! So you can showe it your MVP you know where,. 1)Jokic can take in his able hands and carry on his back all his team when the team is in dire. Embiid CAN NOT 2)Jokic can play any given position in a team and be dangerous for the opposing team from anywhere on the court. Embiid CAN NOT 3)Jokic can organize his whole team at any given moment, even coach them. Embiid CAN NOT 4)Jokic can inspire his team and never blame them for bad results. Embiid CAN NOT That is why Jokic is the true leader and true MVP,... PS Embiid has 5 triple-doubles in his entire career, and Jokic has 8 just in this playoff alone. Let this sink in for a moment! Triple-doubles are true reflections of one's game in a team and for a team You and all others knew for all triple-doubles Jokic made in reg season and before the western finals.

It's like fans arguing who's the "GOAT" between Jordan and LeBron. (there's solid arguments for both sides imo) but most fans aren't objective and they'll shit on one player because....well, for diverse reasons, most of them emotional reasons. and MVP voters are ALSO like that, they'll avoid giving someone 3X MVP out of principle or even nostalgia , "voter fatigue" whatever their reasons, it's not always rational.
