Really good interview from a humble and very knowledgable engineer. I like how he put things in perspective from his standpoint but was able to talk to us "drummers" about what's important in a recording session. Great interview and hope to see more of Marc in the future...

Excellent! Some great insight here, I especially enjoyed his thoughts + reasoning on mic placement , And the drum clip at the end…. Damn ! That definitely sounded like years of dialing paying up !👍 thanks for sharing this 🙏

Great show and great to see someone who definitely won't be impacted by AI music! If digital didn't kill him, the droids certainly won't! Keep up the good work.

I don't agree with a lot of the things Marc says when it comes to recording, however, he seems like a really knowledgeable guy who gets results the best way he knows how. Just goes to show you can get great sounding results doing it a multitude of ways. There's no "right" answer in this art.

Great video! Nice interview. Some really good suggestions about mic placement. I normally record in spaced pair. Now I’m curious to set up in XY and see how that changes things.
@malonedrum
@malonedrum 3 ай бұрын
I do way more than people think in mono, but when it comes to stereo, XY is much safer for phase, but I also love his point about wide imagery, and how it’s typically a bit over exaggerated.

Nice interview. Ok, I get it, heavier on the snare, lighter on the cymbals. Volume control myself makes the engineers job easier.

Great video! Love the thoughts about how much the drummers touch and sound on the instrument matters. I really have been focusing on that so glad to hear it's worth while
@malonedrum
@malonedrum 3 ай бұрын
Yeah, that’s where I think technology and advancements have really de-emphasized the importance of great playing and touch, but Marc’s way of doing things still allows the musician to shine.
