Hey, maybe where im from is a diferent term but, what exactly does he means by rubber? the kerb? Cheers
@Cymbalix
@Cymbalix 3 ай бұрын
@@rafaelribeiro99 He means the literal tyre rubber, laid down by the cars in the dry. This is mostly on the normal dry racing line, which you should avoid in the wet. Because rubber + water = slippery.
@rafaelribeiro99
@rafaelribeiro99 3 ай бұрын
@@Cymbalix oh i get it, thanks. So if the race already begins with rain, this is not an issue? since the track is not going to have rubber in the ideal race line? Idk if iracing always have rubber on track, or if it gets more Optimal as people drive in it
@Cymbalix

@@rafaelribeiro99 Tracks always have rubber on the racing line as standard. It depends on the track status how high the rubber grip is.

i love all the vids and glad you did this, i become pretty good in rain no official races yet but got a few top 3 in the week 13 stuff in rain. the line is no problem for me, my biggest issue is getting around in traffic, always end up in somebody else wreck cause i just cant see, i drive opposite much as i can but some places your limited to a single line, so getting a pass on a slow car or just not able to see where to go in traffic is my problems.

I would like to understand how sometimes the rubbered line is safe and other times it’s not. I saw an LMP2 brake successfully on the rubbered line, where earlier I found it to be too slippery. I don’t know how he made the regular racing line work for him. I have very little experience in LMP2s, but I was surprised to take an overall win in the rain 🌧️ (no clue how I’d do in the dry) - rain really does make anything possible. Really thankful to iRacing for this. 👍

Hi Daniel great video, just two questions if you know: 1st) is the rubber lay out "real" process simulated? I mean IRL I assume you will have the rubber in the "ideal" line (and you will need to avoid it in rain) if the rain appeared when the race was already started so there was significative time cars running in dry so laying the rubber in the ideal line. But for example if all the seasson happens in rain maybe main part of the cars (and it's rubber) will be allways off the line... so in theory the rubber will not be "in the ideal line" but in the "rain line". So is the actual rubber layout process simulated? Or it is always in the ideal dry line even if there were no cars running on this line for a significative time 2nd) I read somewhere the need to move to the wet spots to cool down the rain tires when drying up is still not simulated, do you know if that is true? Thanks

Hot take, I think driving for sr is a waste of time. Sure if you wanna grind up to gt3 racing, go for it. But sr and ir are there for a reason. When your new, your racecraft, speed, safty and all other points is going to be pretty terrible, but the more you track time, races, battles with others, is going to make a better driver and then sr and ir will come by them self. In the end, its a reason why rookie get mazda, d get some sport cars, and c you get more racecar. Remember iracing as a sim is trying to help you build up your car skill before reaching the tippy top of motorsport (gt3, prototypes, f1, etc..) Ofcourse, im not here to hate on people trying to grind sr, just giving my take on it
