Another beautiful reminder of how incredible Uematsu's work is. I love how the FFXIV team honors his contributions to the franchise wherever they can. This is the theme of FFVIII's endboss and once you understand who this boss is and how she got to that state, the whole arrangement fits perfectly. Thinking about the insanely tragic story behind that game always makes me tear up a but. "I'll be waiting here...for you...so...If you come here...You'll find me. I promise."

This song just made the end of the Ultimecia fight in FF8 so intense. Having it kick in here was just epic when I first got to the transition...I probably deafened my raid mates since FF8 is my favourite game xD The original still holds a place in my heart but this was a great remix (Plus the fight has casts that reference the ultimecia fight so that was a cool touch)

The guy in the comments saying it sounds tragic is right. Gaia has had her memories erased and forced to resume the identity of her previous life, and the two identities basically fight for dominance before the old one takes over and asserts itself when Artemis dies. In a fit of rage it lashes out and tries to kill you and your party (since you're the ones directly responsible for Artemis's death) while you're desperately trying to save the current version of Gaia from being erased for good.

Favorite FF8 OST after Griever fused with Ultimecia, I love that game so much, best FF out there, no contest.

This is actually from FF8 the song that you find Vincent with sounds similar but it's a different song called "The Nightmare Begins" similar vibes to the intro but not the same song ;)

Oracle of Darkness is just Nobuo Uematsu's "The Extreme" from Final Fantasy 8. Same composer of "Battle on the Big Bridge" :) This was awesome though!

Playing this fight when it was new was a DIFFERENT experience, even getting to this fight felt like a mountain climb (gameplay and story wise, it was a REALLY hard set of fights) and then once you get here you're rewarded with this song accompanying a tough as nails gauntlet of rapid fire actions. It WOULD NOT HIT if the music wasn't there, and listening to the song again evokes all those emotions out of me all over again.

Such a good track, was fun to see you adapting to it over time, a challenging one it seemed!

I was unspoiled on the Savage version of this fight. My static had to endure my fangirl screaming as soon as we got to this phase for the first time and I heard that intro.

Such a fun fight to prog, and the music only made it better. They did justice to the Ultimecia final boss theme

This is from the final Savage level fight from Shadowbringers, and one day I really want to actually do it. This theme is the second phase, after you fight a whole boss. When I tried it, I never got past like 60 or 70% on the first part. One day!
