My dad drag races. I'd love to step up my filming game. Curious if you'd be willing to share you're camera setup? Specifically the cam you're using at the 1/8th mile which requires you to zoom in a lot when they leave the line and zoom out very quickly as they pass the finish line. I've searched Google for the best cameras for this application. Isn't much out there in the forums

Okay so question, what exactly makes a car a pro mod? Because that Camaro that ran after Chief had the stock body on it unlike every other car in the Legal Pro Mod bracket
@FraJa19807 жыл бұрын
Time bracket qualifications basicly, a car has to be certified to run a certain time bracket that defines the pro-mod class.

Hi. One question. In Germany the pro mods drive the hole quarter mile. This seems to be just the 1/8. are there just 1/8 mile races in the us? The only cars that don't drive the full quarter mile are the top fuel in Germany. Only 1000 food like in the us. cheers
@bigchief33907 жыл бұрын
Yes
@barath45457 жыл бұрын
For ProMods, almost all the time outside the NHRA, Promods run 1/8th. NHRA run the full 1/4 mile but are generally slow (for Promods) bc of regulations. PDRA, iirc, has the fastest ProMods in their Pro Extreme where Frankie Taylor etc run their cars. However Pro Extreme now is almost only blown alcohol and very few turbo cars. The 1/8 mile is to be able to run at minor tracks and have less restrictive rules for the cars and to hold costs down as 1/4 mile is more expensive on parts. The NHRA Promods run about 3.80 at 205-210 at best in the 1/8 where the PDRA ones routinely run 3.55-3.60 at 215-230 mph. Once a year or so, the PDRAs do run the full 1/4 just to see how fast they actually are and produced the fastest doorslammer records currently, at 5.46 at 272 mph (turbo, Al-Zafari) and 5.47 at 260 for a blown (Frankie).

Sure hope someone decides to pick up Chief and help him out. He has the name and is a legit racer. Running that cast iron 455 pontiac won't cut it here. He is squeazing every ounce of power out of that thing as it is and now he's limited on which turbos he can run, boost levels, fuel, etc. That motor just can't compete with 900ci billet monsters. Good luck man!

I'm curious, I've already run all motor so forgive my ignorance. It would appear that the big chief has a turbo based on the small tube adjacent to the main exhaust pipe. A, am I wrong about that, B, I didn't know they did turbo and nitrous oxide and turbo. I knew they didn't on blown or even very often on all motor mechanical fuel injection but mainly when running methanol. I believe, correct me if I'm wrong, but mainly because methanol not only runs cooler, one benifeit to nitrous and that methanol brings it's own oxygen to the party. Would someone care to educate me on these questions? Thank you, Wayne
@jaded163407 жыл бұрын
excuse me, I've "only" run all motor. Always wanted to build a blower motor but for bracket racing and low budget racing...not much point. With a 500 inch Mopar stroker at 15.5:1 compression on methanol, it made for a fast car without the added complexity which is, I think, why many go that route or run gas and nitrous oxide.
@TheStingis17 жыл бұрын
A/The small tube is for the waste gate to blow off B/ most of the time you used turbo or nitrous not both. Also you would to lower your compression ALOT Hope this helps

Im not saying i hate it...they are Impressive Machines, But to say what you did is baloney. Tell that to the Top Fuel and Funny cars folks who go 3sec.+ @ 320mph in a 1,000ft. @bbd4687 жыл бұрын
Matt Terk Thanks for the Info Terk. :) 6.29....Impressive!
@tommyb4305 жыл бұрын
The problem with running cars a full 1/4 on most small town tracks is the track can't handle it, the shut down lane is way to short nowadays, you will see full 1/4 at a track that is sanctioned by the NHRA and some IHRA races.
@skinnyWHITEgoyim Жыл бұрын
The racers in the left lane lost before they even raced. Most of them lost traction. When there's that much of a traction difference between the two lanes there should be some work done to the track before continuing.

I do hope though that you can find a sponsor for a billet Pontiac (Style of design) block at like 526-540 and then equip it with two hairdriers at 106 mm for the non NHRA and some smartspool compound system for the NHRA races.
