A large protest involved students and others forcing their way into an administrative building on campus with demands the school divests in Israel.

To those raising the Palestinian flags, where were you when ISIS was launched in the name of Islam and beheaded tens and thousands of Arabs in Libya, Syria and Iraq? Why didn't you take it to the streets and raised their flags and condemn them and call the terror and call for ceasefire? Where were you when Arab dictators and terrorists killed thousands of Arabs in Syria and Libya? Where were you when Saudi Arabia backed by other Arab countries killed and starved out more than 400,00 Yemenis? This calls for some self reflection. When millions of Arabs are being slaughtered by other Arabs, you say NOTHING.

What does umich have to do with ISIS? In the case of the Isreal Hamas war, we’re saying umich should divest from companies that send war supplies to isreal, who bombs innocent Palestinian civilians

I graduated from UofM in 2001 and could not imagine something like this happening then. About 15% of students are Jewish. I can't imagine what it is like for them.

There is no Palestine. The people of Moses lived in the region thousands of years before even Jesus. That means roughly 4000 years ago. Hebrews/Jews and Muslims were slaves during the Egyptian empire which lasted 3000 years. I love the pyramids because its a huge reminder to the Muslims that Egypt doesn't belong to them. Ramses II, the greatest king of Egypt must be turning in his grave.

the past doesnt matter though. the present matters. there are people living there. both israel and palestine belong there. now you can call it whatever you want, but a rose is still a rose. you can tell me about anything that happened in the past, but a rose is still a rose. those borders exist to protect the people that are within them. changing a map doesnt change the ground. this entire conflict is pure silliness. religion is no longer needed for humanity.

most protests have some level of scuffling. the only ones that arent are probably the ones that are about gluing yourself to the pavement or chaining yourself to a tree, which is technically self-harm, so still not quite peaceful. stop spreading lies.

Unfortunately the Federal Government and state of Michigan has laws which prohibit the boycotting of Israel. The university can't stop doing business to boycott Israel because they can be prosecuted.

The US Constitution gives us the right under the first Amendment to protest which includes boycotting companies we disagree with. Under these statutes that is. Prohibited if the boycott is concerning Israel
