I wish Ryan was a little league umpire. He calls strikes strikes. He does this while at the same time, thinking out of the box. Thinking out of the box is exactly why he was able to pass so many riders.

I have a modern 300 cc 2-stroke enduro bike. One does not just simply understand how good of a tool it is for the job its made for. Ryan is right. There is nothing like it.

Not mentioned but I think a major factor: unlike almost every other form of racing, a motocross track is constantly changing during the race.. between heats, after being watered etc.. Most road tracks don't change for years, even decades and teams can dial in their cars for that track, save setting and be good.. not an option when it starts raining halfway thru the main ;)

The parallels between Moto and something like Sprint Car Racing is crazy the overlap. The "field fillers" is part of both and relatively unique to both. I have a foot in both worlds, it's just interesting.

my fav memory of crashing in practice was the motocross community coming to my pit n helping me straighten my bike out so i could get into the races! I didnt know anyone there but the support was unmatched. love this sport !

So true. We’d be running in Georgia and you’d hear the pits making noise and Ezra Lusk would show up and rip. Was so awesome

I live in southwest Mississippi. K-Dub still comes out every once in a while. As many times as I've seen him, it's still amazing.

Rode while you were on track a couple times. You were wearing moose gear and riding a Suzuki. 🤩

I’ve cartwheeled my bikes on downhills in the woods plenty times, picked it up and kicked it a few times. Good stuff 👍🏻

Great video! I always enjoy your insights and perspectives. As an ex local Joe who bounced between working metal fabricator and motorcycle shops since high school, your bit the other day with Hopper 'n C. Rob on 'What comes after' really hit home. There isn't much that compares. I'm currently pushing 48....with four 90s sportbikes, a harley, a 98 WR400, and a 2020 WR250r supermoto conversion working at a Yamaha/Kawasaki dealership 😂. Been trying to take what I can from your vids on the health and pain management end. I really appreciate the info you offer.

Listening to Jeff Ward describe driving Indy cars was eye opening. The margin of error at 200 plus miles per hour is tiny.

I’d much rather crash (body-wise) on a road racing motorcycle than on an mx. Road racing you just slide, mx you just slam & crunch. Trust me I know first hand from both disciplines.

ryan what kind of advice do you have for me some of the other racers are all gathering in a trailer and doing bad stuff i think they are using performance enhancing drugs and rubbing stuff inside their nostrils. they are all in c class and im just worried someone might get hurt.
@gerardabbatte33123 күн бұрын
Stay far away from them would be advise. Let a track official know that you believe they be under the influence of something and let them sort it out.

golf compares to mx. from beginners to clubhouse pros on the same course. sometimes leads to hostility and fear.

it's not fun to learn and be a beginner anywhere, golf course, ski hill, its all an uphill battle, Even pros were starting out as beginners once.
@ButtSnorkler900023 күн бұрын
I disagree, if you do things from a place of passion and curiosity rather than ego then all the fun is in learning. When you’re a beginner you learn the fastest

I would argue motocross is not a motorsport and shouldn't be compared as such. it's a flow sport like surfing, skating, snowboarding, with an obvious extension into cycling. this actually is a sexier look for motocross. motorsports are a thing. but they're not even close to being as cool as this. not even close.
