If you want to get to the point, roller demo starts at: 1:54 showing proper rolling technique.
How to make the roller starts at 6:20.
Enjoy!
(Products used listed below)
((**Quick note on the roller!** Forgot to put this in but obviously let the clay dry 24hrs before applying the varnish.))
Hey guys, first off the Wizard Tower finale' is on its way! In this video I show you how I made my own stone wall texture roller for making the stone on the wizard tower/castle buildings. It's a very simple and easy method that gave me better than expected results that look just as good, if not much better than what I've seen out there for texture rollers on the market.

awsome video, very cool rolling pin you made there. I found that (for me personally) it was easier putting the clay directly on my foamboard pieces 1st and then going over with the textured roller. After that i cut away the clay at the edges.. But again, my personal prefrence. But it would not be possible at all if it wasn't for your great tutorial on how to make it, so thanks alot mate, really!
@RealTerrainHobbies
@RealTerrainHobbies 5 жыл бұрын
Awesome. Yeah I did do a little of that on my tower build. I found pressing it down firm enough was an issue though when tring to go that rout so I mostly just ended up rolling it out first and then putting it on. If you got it to work well that way for you though then that's all that matters! :)

Do you think this is also suitable to make a cobblestone road for my christmas village i am building? Thx for any tipps!

Hi, this is really smart indeed. Creating your own tools according to your need. - You said "make sure the clay dries and hardens 24 hrs before spraying with varnish". Is it drying by itself or do you bake it at low temperature to help the drying process ? - Why using Varnish prime ? You are mastering the topic !

Very interesting. I originally thought the clay was to become a mold for resin or plastic. I was pleasantly surprised when the obviously dried and hardened clay became the tool. One question, at the very end you cut out a very large portion of the tower, why? Curious minds want to know. Thanks for another great tutorial.
@RealTerrainHobbies
@RealTerrainHobbies 5 жыл бұрын
Ah yes I forgot to actually mention to make sure the clay dries and hardens 24 hrs before spraying with varnish. But yea, works great! As for the tower, I cut out that portion so you'll be able to get a look inside the tower once things all said and done. I'm going to be using some vines and brambles afterward to hopefully his the seam around the edges. Going to do what I can anyway to hid the seam for a "seamless" look.
