Andrea Mengucci held the King of the Hill seat for seven of Friday's eight rounds, now in round 12 he was back to compete for the throne against Reid Duke.

I think Reid should've shipped that Game 3 opening hand. Any hand that can't interact with a turn 3 Xenagos is a mulligan. He needed either thoughtseize, downfall, or dissolve (plus the untapped mana to cast them) or its a mulligan. Turn 1 forest just isn't going to cut it, and sure enough Mengucci's unanswered Xengos on turn 3 was just able to snowball an advantage that Reid couldn't come back from.

Many years later and I still don't know why our commentator says the name Xenagos so strangely, in the form SHZZEN-A-Gos. Otherwise, a great game here and such a fun time for Magic. Satyrs, Hydras, big monsters and Coursers. Such a cool rotation.

I don't blame Reid Duke at 47:11 , if I saw what I saw after a Xenagos Ultimate, I too be like crap, I am screwed :S

If you mean Yuuya Watanabe, it will be because those cards were technically knowable to his opponent (most likely because of the Courser he had in play meaning each of his draws were visible, and possibly because of an earlier Thoughtseize or Brain Maggot), and because Yuuya is a gentlemen and awesome guy, he's keeping them face up so his opponent doesn't have to write down or remember them.

He thought that he was so much better that his opponent didn't even have a chance even if he knew his hand the whole time.
