Today w'ere exploring the best things to do in GLASGOW, SCOTLAND!!
If we're being honest, we had no clue what to expect before arriving in Glasgow. We knew they were obviously known as the capital of Scotland & a major home for Scottish football, but there's SO MUCH to do in Glasgow & this video merely scratches the surface!
Today we start by going to Willow Grove for coffee. Willow Grove Coffee is a very popular coffee shop in Glasgow & the flat white tasted incredible! It's a really popular place & we highly recommend it!
We then made our way over to the University of Glasgow. We knew that this college would be impressive, but it wildly exceeded our expectations! The cloisters gave a really cool Harry Potter feel & the university itself is one of the four oldest universities in the English-speaking world. University of Glasgow is an excellent spot to enjoy coffee while enjoying some spectacular scenery.
From there we hopped in the car & drove into the center of Glasgow to see Buchanan Street. This felt like the main thoroughfare in Glasgow & made for a great afternoon of window shopping. If you're looking to shop until you drop then this is the place for you!! While in the center of Glasgow, make sure to stop & see George Square. George Square is a central hub for the city & has a host of different statues of famous Scottish people who've done great things.
Shortly after we walked over to BrewDog Merchant City. This is a chain restaurant/brewery, but has an excellent selection of Scottish beers that we wanted to try. The barbecue & fries were an excellent treat along with our IPAs!
After sufficiently stuffing ourselves with good food & great beer, we decided to walk a bit to Glasgow Cathedral & the Necropolis behind it. This cathedral is truly stunning. From the vaulted ceilings to the crypt below, we were mesmerized by the architecture & couldn't believe this was free to tour (although donations are encouraged). Behind the Glasgow Cathedral is the Necropolis. Trey loves a good cemetery, & it's not hard to see why when you enter this. These Victorian headstones highlight the ornate tastes of previous generations. Make sure to walk through & marvel at some of the most beautiful headstones you'll find in Britain!
We finished our day by going to Ashton Lane. Ashton Lane is a cobblestoned backstreet in the West End of Glasgow. There are numerous bars & restaurants to choose from, & we opted with stopping at Innis & Gunn Brewery. We sampled some great beers & sandwiches before closing out our day in Glasgow. Glasgow's such an incredible city & we had such a great time. If you love good food & beer then add Glasgow to your itinerary next time you're in the UK!
Thank you so much for watching & subscribe if you're new as we'd love to have you on board this crazy journey! See you in a few days!

I was recently on a road trip with a Dutch friend who hadn't been this way before, taking in Dublin, Manchester and Glasgow. Dublin is charming, Manchester is rather dull and disconcerting. Then there was Glasgow... in a different league. Such a great big city vibe. Loads of culture and street life. For tourists, the best city in the UK after London without a doubt.

Don I couldn't agree more! Glasgow just has an energy about it that feels so completely different to the rest of Great Britain. We'd heard mixed reviews prior to our visit but to be honest we experienced nothing but hospitality & kindness. We had the best time & cannot wait to get back there at some point. Thank you so much for your comment & for watching our video!!!!!😊

While it's true that the University of Glasgow is over 560 years old the university has moved from its original High Street campus. The current main building was built in 1871 so it's not all that old. A few parts of the original buildings were moved to the new campus including the lion and unicorn staircase shown. It's a fantastic place to visit and has several museums and art galleries on campus including a reconstruction of Charles Rennie Mackintosh's house. I feel like I've spent a huge chunk of my life there as I got my MA here and have worked at the university for over 20 years

Medieval-influenced architecture was very popular in the 19th century, though some architects of the time thought it would have been more appropriate for a university to have an Ancient Greek/Roman influenced design instead.

Ex Glasgow now living in Canada and I miss it terribly. First time it's best to take the city tour bus to pick out spots you want to explore and it's cheap as chips. My favourite haunts are the Kelvingrove Museum, Buchanan Street pedestrian mall, the Transport Museum, the Gallery of Modern Art and Byers Road for great fish and chips ending at the Botanical Gardens tea room. Glasgow has the best subway system in the world and the bus and train services are great. I wouldn't take a car to see Glasgow when there is such a great transport system. Park for free in an out Vilkage like Milngavie and take the train to one of the two train stations. The subway or underground there is a loop so if you miss a stop you stay on until it comes around again. Each stop you get off at has something to see. Buy a day pass. I never could get bored living there.

The haggis thing is absolute nonsense. It was made inside a sheep’s stomach 200 years ago when there were no cookers! Haggis is no different from sausage, it’s just pork offal with spices, oats and barley. It’s held together in the same synthetic material used to keep sausage meat together. We also don’t still run around in kilts playing the bagpipes.

I'd highly recommend checking Airbnb for smaller places because I promise you'll not spend much time there. There's SO many great things to do in Glasgow and we really only scratched the surface in this video. As far as days, we only stayed for a couple of days but so you could see some of it in that amount of time, but we really wish we'd been able to stay longer. I was born in Glasgow - last time I went there, the buses on a Sunday were a bit dodgy - so we used the "Orange" - which is Glasgow's beautifully simple subway (two circular tracks going in opposite directions) It's Britain's second-most populated city - next only to London ... and yet, it doesn't feel that way (as you can see from this footage). As usual, Scotland's cities were designed MUCH better than England's. Over the last couple of years, the city centre was sometimes closed down so that Marvel and Indiana Jones could film - the architecture, and set dressing, standing in for New York

im happy you enjoyed glasgow! so many people seem to think its a shithole, and just go to edinburgh. I have family who used to live there. So i have been many times. But had not been for years. When i do go i never got see anything all the interesting. So i booked a trip for me and my wife in pre covid jan 2020, we started off in England to see a few friends. But sadly the day before i was going to scotland my wife had to return home due to sick relative. So i had to go alone to scotland, To cut a long story short, i spend 3 days in Glasgow, did the free walking tour, very good, discovered stuff ive never heard of, esp kelvingrove. Scottish pies, best place was macdonalds(not to the fast food place) in union st next to renee macintosh. Sadly i didnt enjoy ashton lane, too touristy, mind you i did go to a pricey bar, food wasnt very good. lastly Ayr was a good day trip to see a beach.
@ProbablyLost

That sounds like a wild trip!! You're so right though, we'd heard some really bad things about Glasgow before we arrived but we honestly really loved it. There's so much to see & do, & we only had positive interactions with people while we were there. As far as Ayr, that's a great recommendation. I think our biggest regret from our visit to the UK was that we didn't really get to hit some of the lesser-known areas in Scotland. We're hoping to do some type of series in the future to highlight these spots too, so we'll have to go check it out!!! Thank you so much for taking the time to watch our video though Chris. I don't know if you are asking, but someone in the comments had a great recommendation: "lasgow has the best subway system in the world and the bus and train services are great. I wouldn't take a car to see Glasgow when there is such a great transport system. Park for free in an out Village like Milngavie and take the train to one of the two train stations. The subway or underground there is a loop so if you miss a stop you stay on until it comes around again. Each stop you get off at has something to see. Buy a day pass."

For anyone wanting to travel to Glasgow here's some tips from a local. For accommodation you can't beat the bellgrove Hotel, right next to the city centre with a very relaxed almost comatose atmosphere to the place. You may be put off by a Glasgow takeaway due to myths and half truths about "deep fried Mars bars etc" but a trip to "best kebab" near Queen Street station will put all your worries to bed, they wouldn't call it best kebab if the food was awful, would they? For a bit of shopping why not visit the barras? A quaint little market run by colourful locals catering for all your needs. And if nightlifes more your thing then the savoy or "sauve sav" as its known to the locals is filled to the brim with drinks, dancing and as theyre known to the locals "dobbers". Have a lovely stay and we look forward to seeing you
