Hey Jason! I think you forgot to change the audio quality from 16-bit 2Ch to 24-bit 2Ch on your Sony camera. Yes! With that hot shoe it can record 24-bit directly to the video file instead of 16-bit. And yes it sounds richer either way from your test. This is pushing me to get the new DJI Mic 2, despite being happy with the first version. I would still use the older version for mixing more than 4 people talking together if needed via XLR or even using 3.5mm splitter with internal recording just in case.

@@JasonMorrisphotocinema I don’t know how the hotshoe works but I can imagine that the adapter hands off a direct digital signal from the DJI receiver directly to the camera. Instead of converting the signal to an analog signal for the 3.5mm cable which is sent to the camera which converts this analog signal to a digital again. But that’s just a theory.

I think you've missed on the way you were comparing the two tipes of connections. An easier and more precise way would be recording dialogs, music or whatever played from a good set of speakers in a closed ambient at the same distance using the same audio clips than overlay both and see if the waveforms have differences 😊

@Jonasegway3 ай бұрын
Their problem is these Asian companies have direct access to this tech at direct cost. Companies like Rode, GoPro being based out of their native countries have to 3rd party components for their products costing them more. They have to outsource for Asian companies to built chips and put in big orders for components for their stuff while DJI/insta360 and some of these other Asian based companies practically makes this stuff themself and since they manufacture their own stuff (and if not, being in Asia they can get stuff made for dirt cheap) and don't have to worry about paying large salaries for select employees in their native land. Everything is cheap and easily accessible and I think Asian companies are now kicking this exploitation into high gear
