Cap’n, the 755 needed a little TLC! I could tell how happy she was as she swaggered down the driveway. And why not… got her feeding tubes plumbed, her pigtail routed and her mask replaced. She’s all set for adventure… better take the key with you, she’s liable to party on her own! I am sending a package your way today… I’ll text or email you the tracking info. It’ll be sent to the market. Hope you have nothing less than a wonderful day!

Tractor sounds like it runs way better and has more power. If you clean the crud off the top of the battery and clean the negative post and cable, you may find you don’t need a new battery yet. I’ve been told the crud on the top can allow electric to flow between posts. Best wishes. Kevin

Hey Capt., your alternator is the same 40 amp alternator as the 855 and 955. When you get ready to replace it, contact a local alternator/starter shop and see if they can't just rebuild yours with a higher amp stator. I've stopped buying new alternators and have started rebuilding them myself which isn't too difficult.
@CaptainKleeman

Hi Mike. Pleased you received the oil wrenches, as I watched you time and again use the fan belt method and as an ex mechanic on All sizes of machines from CAT D9 to small ride on mowers as well as chainsaws thought something like what I used would not go amiss in your toolbox. Also useful on pipe fittings and water filtration units, so could be of help with the rentals you end up building. Hope to see you when I travel over from the UK and visit Farmer Chris as I also used to build those silos he has just had on his farm. My one bucket list journey left is driving the whole of Route 66 using as much of the original as there is that is accessible, when the travel and covid stuff allows. It also allows me to visit my ex para medic Buddies who married members of the American armed forces and all seem to live on or close to the route. Enjoy the tools and see how long it takes to break them lol.

Usually, the shorter the ground wire, the better. On a winch though, I'm not sure. I had one on my truck, and the battery was pretty much the shortest ground I had. Plus on an attachment/trailer, the battery is always a good choice. No worries about not having enough contact through the hitch.

Nice work Mike! I know your getting the comments but you do need to address the motor mounts. The rubber flex between the flywheel and the drive shaft can't take that much movement and it will destroy it sooner than later. Glad you got that grill locked down! 😉

Mike, I also have a JD755 and had to do some maintenance/repairs over the last several years. Latest one is a slightly larger amperage alternator. It was larger diameter than OEM, so I changed v-belt to a 35.5". Last fall, I noticed it was running hot and yep, it had bubbles in the coolant. When taking it apart, I noticed that someone had totally removed the thermostat. Grrrrrrr! Also had a bad glow plug. So, one new head gasket and a new set of glow plugs and it is running smoother than it ever has. One other semi major issue was a very bad right rear motor mount. I rebuilt with some large washers and a block of rubber. But while working on this I noticed that the driveshaft coupler/isolator was badly damaged. This is a large round block of rubber with steel inserts to isolate the flywheel from the driveshaft. I suspect the bad motor mount allowed so much lateral movement, that it trashed the coupler. Luckily John Deere still stocks this part, but they're not cheap. Fix the motor mount pronto. Thanks for the videos. I know they are a lot of work.

Yup! The mount is on the list next along with a battery. They are certainly proud of them though. What alternator did you end up going ?

It is a DB Elecrrical, # ‎400-44041 (Amazon). It is rated at 35 amps, but it is physically larger. Supposed to be direct replacement, but it requires a spacer on the bottom bracket and the longer v-belt due to larger diameter. My 755 had the same turf tires as yours. I put R4 on the front and actively looking for some 33x12.50x15 mud terrains for the back. I am also well acquainted with the 755 creep.

Mike, I have both a 770 and 790 JD tractors. Neither of my engines have as much side-to-side movement as your 755 upon start up. Is it possible you have a bad or loose motor mount? Great video. Love your channel. Lee

The rear mount is definitely showing some age. It's next with the battery

Mike just a novel idea/suggestion. Replace the top link with a speed binder. Make those adjustments super quick and easy. Of course it's not much adjustment either way so probably not a big issue. But it would be fun.
