What was the problem? mine starting to do that, it does not turn on with sd, tried several cards, all class 10

i have a camera eos1100d same modole but it is not working becoz 3 month ago i kept cannon battary in camera then it is not being on

I am super late to the party but I recently purchased the 650D from a lady online for $130. My wife wants to get into photography so I decided to get her a starter camera just in case she's not as passionate as she leads on to be.....tbc....anyway I am more techy and camera savvy so as I was playing around with the video settings the camera shut off and wouldn't turn back on. I noticed the red light blinking at the bottom but I didn't pay it much attention. I did notice when I took the batter out and put it back in the camera (in photo mode) function properly, however when I switched to video I could see an error in the viewfinder but no error code. I played around with the battery, watched a view YT videos but no one told how to fix it, only that they had the same problem. This post helped a little when one of the commenters mentioned the SD card. I just bought a Kingston 128GD micro SD with the adapter (I realize now that was supposed to be the move). When I took the SD card out, the camera came on so I put it back in, switched to video mode and everything was functioning as normal. I am not sure how long this will last but since the memory card is new I will work on reformatting it in hopes that'll keep it working for a while. I will also work on a new SD card. Does anyone know who sells discounted lenses for the 650d?

It might be an issue with the SD card, I have seen a video canon 5d will not turn on, but when the SD card was reformatted on the pc and re inserted it the camera works fine, try give it a shot, that might help.

1st problem, is my camera is sort of in lock down mode, I am getting a message in view finder hat says Card's write protect switch is set to lock???

I would say that your SD card it to slow. You should be using a minimum of a class 6 higher would be better..If your card is to small it will slow the writing process as indicated by the AF light remaining on.

most likely is a problem of the SD card or SD card reader i recomand buy SD cards of well-known brands

SD card under 16gig or battery low both will cause this shut down of LCD. bad battery. re-set all your settings to original manufacture specifications. my camera acted up like that,even mirror locked on two lens. also L lens,or certain brand lens command more power USM and i had 2 "stripes" left on battery life and it did the same. i put in new battery powered up..and its fine. also CLEAN the lens,sensor. that sometimes makes the camera act odd.

Lol I just got this thing off of eBay and it worked fine. But then it wouldn't turn back on one day. And I've tried several fully charged batteries, different SD Cards, nothing works.

I had this same issue. I replaced the SD card. Ejected and reinserted the battery, powered the camera back on and, it works fine!!

it could be the sd card, because your camera always fails when it has to do with writing on the card, you can tell this by the af light (its lights up when writing things to the card) buy a sd card with speed class 10

Format , and reset camera functions. Make sure it’s a good battery, use above a 16g and all should be good.

for anybody that still have this camera in this year the problem can by SOLVED Just pressing the camera button with the red dot in the screen right side in the Live Mode will appear

bought it for $50 with 2 lenses standard and tamron 17-50/2.8 also 2 batteries and flash cable . very good camera but after 3-4 month die /o any reason. just no power. google say very common microswithes problem but i'm not tech guy. all palace when i found in NYC include Canon ask me for $249+tax!!!!! . that IMHO much more that just new body cost/ so i decide do not repair unless i do not find someone normal. but it just show that you need no pay more for used camera on market. as i understood all canons except 1d.5d and7d have same problem.i believe that it intentionally made by canon. so did i will buy new even for sale price (2 zoom bag kit $400)-definitely no. do i pay more than $50 for kit from 10mp and higher? sure not. but if i find again for normal price why not.

These digital cameras are just like cell phones...limited life and then they glitch. My Nikon P520 just stopped working and it has happened to many other p520 owners, also my LG g4 cellphone went into boot loop mode. We consumers of these product have no recourse because these devices usually stop working after warranty.

worse camera I ever purchased. My Kodak was better and my Nikon is still always my go to... Get rid of this camera and would not purchase one ever again. They are not built as well as the Nikons.

I had a similar problem, and was fixed while watching this video! I left it on 'on', and put the battery in and out over and over again (mostly out of frustration), but I think it actually removed some dust or maybe dirt on the connector. I also ran the battery until it died and not sure if by trying to turn it on if it drained the camera's battery..? but now seems to be staying on.

Hello everybody. I just had to say something here, I have use my Canon EOS rebel T3i for over four years now. I too have felt like throwing it against the wall but as I have learned how to use it I now love it and it's my best friend, at least that's what my husband says because I take it everywhere I go.It took me that long to figure a few things out that were not written in the Canon manuals. I will go ahead and tell you what I wish someone would have told me. 1. Buy an SD card that is a class 10, at least 32 GB of space, with a writing speed of at least 80 Mb/s (megabytes per second ) please pay attention to the fact that the class of the card is different from the writing speed. The writing speed is how fast your card allows data to be written on to the card. I made that mistake and bought a class 10 card that wrote so slow The SD card that they provide you with when you usually buy your camera is not capable of recording more than 15 or 20 seconds at a time without it shutting off. It will not say why it just says on your screen recording has stopped. It takes a long time to "buffer is what I called it" and then you can record again another 15 or 20 seconds. What I realized is they give you the lowest class SD card which also has The slowest writing speed. The writing speed is so slow in fact that it's not even written on the back of the SD card. 2. Do not use a micro ST card with an adapter to take photos or record in your camera. Even though it fits, micro SD cards are meant for electronics such as android phones, tablets like your Amazon fire tablet, and some video recording devices that are strictly for taking videos. I made this mistake as well and lost a lot of valuable photos. 3. Do not switch SD cards back and forth between different types of cameras, while it's true both cards can be used in cannons, Nikons and lots of types of cameras, once it is formatted for your camera, you should be good to go. I made this mistake letting someone else use my SD card thinking they could go ahead and take photos on the space that I had left using their Nikon, and again lost many of my precious memories., However once you get your ST card back or you get an ST card from someone who lets you have it you can reformat it to your camera, which of course wiped everything clean and sets it up ready to use for your specific camera. 4. If you have photos that you really want to keep and you have used the Settings inside of the camera to protect it which basically means you've locked it on there to prevent it from being erased, that also prevents it from being re-formatted, , or accidentally erased. 5. The last thing I learned the hard way, if you have accidentally deleted all of your photos that you definitely did not mean to. You can get them back. Immediately remove your SD card, put the little switch on the side of your ST card to Lock setting put it somewhere safe and you can either send it out or buy the program to recover your deleted photos. The most important part is that you do not continue to take photos over a deleted SD card, and you do not format it, or reformat it. I really hope this helps somebody save some money, time or aggravation. As far as the above issue, always make sure your camera is off when you remove the battery however with the above issue that I see on this camera I have reset mine by removing the battery while the camera was on, and replacing it and turning the camera back on. The most important thing is to have fun nowadays you can usually find help online from someone who has gone through the same thing you have this is a great camera, so anyone out there who is not using it because of one of these issues , please try one of the above hints, or feel free to contact me maybe I have forgotten another one of my tips or tricks and I can help you. From one amateur to another, happy snapping!!
