Yup I remember your 17 footer too you've come a long way cap...congrats! Murphys Law is always in effect especially at sea but as they say hope for the best but prepare for the worst. A/c is well worth the minor damage to the unit 👍. You may want to consider utilizing the kill switch safety lanyard when it gets rough and your bouncing around the cabin. I have the same pilot house and when it gets real rough you can easily bang your head on the roof of the pilot house and God forbid loose consciousness. Or just slow down as you suggested. Anyway, another great video keep em coming and stay safe!

You could get a 36v inverter to run your Air conditioner when your generator is down or at night. 36v 100ah battery can run your AC continuously for 5hrs. Generously assuming it never cycles off. Figuring your AC burns 500w running and another 100w for blowers. 600w continuous is 5hrs.

You really need to find a group of experienced boaters. It would help you a lot with all your skills. You are beating yourself up every crossing either going to fast, using autopilot when it may not be best, and not trimming boat properly. I wish you luck but be open to some help.
@OutOnTheReef8 ай бұрын
Hello, captain and the reason I don't use my train taps too much is because they kill my fuel economy. If you bring the bow down. It makes more drag on the boat. But it's a comfortable ride. But I am on the budget on this trip. So I can keep coming back captain . Thank you for watching and see you out there captain
@AW-yv9sq8 ай бұрын
@@OutOnTheReefyou are going to break something or hurt yourself. You also can’t properly see what’s ahead or your instruments with all the pounding. Having to stand away from the helm. The autopilot most likely is not doing you favors either. Direct route is not always the fastest and does not account for wind wave direction. In small boats you can improve a lot with trim throttle and manual input while traveling the best heading given the conditions. You are taking lots of risk for “saving” fuel. Have you ever done a real test of the difference?
