Way I see it, you get what you pay for if it's priced fair. Prices can be high, but it can be fun for that reason!

Usually it's a thing about cutting spending in one area for a higher music budget, for instance you wouldn't buy clothes that were as pricy and in turn would be able to get albums. Mike C-Town did a video about this at one point.

I once owned Dark Side of the Moon. It had been through a lot, thus it didn't sound that grand; very noisy with those proverbial clicks and pops, unfortunately.

@@KillbotAndGorGorAttack In fact I most enjoyed listening to Dark Side of the Moon on my 30th anniversary edition HYBRID SACD. Never bothered with SA either. Playing it just on my old trusty cd player, sounded better than any old DSOTM record to my ears.

Gabriele Bobbio my first vinyl was Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon which my grandfather had before me. That was a Christmas present too, probanly the best one that year unless I got Vektor's Terminal Redux the same year but I think it was the year before.

I'm a HUGE metal-head. I remember a friend of mine being surprised I enjoyed other forms of music. He mentioned I wouldn't like a certain song because it was old. It was from the 50s. So, I used the good ol' youtube and played him a vast selection of oldies I knew. He was blown away by my knowledge. Then another friend from about 5 years ago couldn't believe I loved oldies. I told her I try to memorize songs I really enjoy, telling I sung Oh, Donna by Ritchie Valens for an hour straight alone a few times trying to get the nuances right. She said she couldn't picture me doing that. I'm not much into Christianity, as she is a huge Christian, and I told her I've been known to keep The River by Garth Brooks on repeat for a long time. It's a song regarding such. A lot of people lie about liking songs they wouldn't seem to. Hypocrites and all. Funny enough, the Christian lady I mentioned enjoyed Rob Zombie, and a few other metal bands and she said she only ever told me...talk about a hypocrite. Of course, many Christians are.

Thank you, vinyl is a fun thing to play with, but don't be suckered into the "it's 100% problem-free thing" like some collectors do. Like CDs, they have their ups and downs :)

Is just having the the shrink wrap removed enough? Or is it important to have them to have them actually taken out as well? It seems like a weird thing, I would've thought that they would be designed and packaged in a way that prevents damage. But I'm taking your word for it, as you have a large collection and seem to know what you're talking about!

I've done a couple vinyl videos in my first year and beginning of 2nd year. Believe it or not I've wanted to do this video for a year now and never got it off the ground because it was too boring for me to start both times. This third time I finally got it.

If you don't take care of it, like leaving it out of its sleeve, storing it in hot climates, not dusting it off before playing.. it's actually kind of hard to scratch/damage a record.

As of right now, avoid Undertow (thin and tinny, packaging sucks), and 10,000 Days never had an official vinyl press but lots of bootlegs. Aenima is rare and expensive, Lateralus sounds good but it's colored/transparent, and Opiate I'm not sure about. Even though the vinyl sounds better for Aenima, I'd probably only get the vinyl for Lateralus right now.

There’s nothing wrong with the Audio Technica ones that are $100. Often the needle matters more than the turntable. And how much you’re willing to spend on a good needle depends on how audio crazy you are, ive heard of needles that cost hundreds! Fortunately a good record stylus is probably $30

I didn't buy that one because "America Must Be Destroyed" had a weird pressing problem. Wouldn't know personally but people say it sounds good.

Thank you for watching! Well, numark is a trusted brand. Belt drive sounds good but direct drive sounds better and lasts longer (no replacing the belt or motor). My Numark TTX is pricy, but you can get a great Numark for like $130 or so from last I looked. Just remember, the sound will only be as good as the setup, so you could have great sounding albums and a turntable, but gotta get good speakers too.

Probably a defective disc, or a very old disc. Tell me, does the disc have a ring on it? I've had CDs that were put in certain model PS2s that had that ring and it ruined the discs.

Went with the short title card this time so that the video can apply to people on different parts of the musical spectrum. Metal and rock are the main albums talked about, but the info can apply to pretty much anyone!

Its pretty much a question of how much you're willing to pay for an album and how much you're going to listen to it on that format. A CD or download can go anywhere, vinyl has to stay in one place. There are downsides to vinyl and CDs, sound quality and mastering can be an issue for both. When done right, they can sound amazing. My thing is with new albums I don't worry about vinyl too much because if it was recorded digitally it's not going to fare much better on an analog format.

They don't make records with scratches on purpouse. But I understand what you mean. The problem is probably that a bit of dirt has been caught in the tracks from the factory. You'll have to clean the record. Another problem might be your antiskating. I have turntable with automatic bias (which doesn't really work so the antiskating on that turntable is bad) and a tiny amount of dirt in the tracks causes the record to skip. However I also have a turntable with perfect antiskating and records never skip on that turntable.

Go for it, but you have to know to take care of your records and buy carefully. It can be a pricy hobby, but it'll be worth it. Ramones on vinyl sound killer, and it's cheap to find most of their albums so you may wanna start there. Any Numark turntable should do fine. Direct drive sounds better and lasts longer, but nothing wrong with a belt drive if that's all you can afford.

@@KillbotAndGorGorAttack I turned to my friend when I first put it on and said to him “isn’t there manufacturing limitations to records that they’re only supposed to hold about 25 minutes per side? I know this album is nearly 60 minutes long so the math isn’t adding up.” Even with those suspicions I seen that version of the album at the store and patience be damned! I just discovered this channel last night after commenting on another channel about Ministry’s Bush Trilogy which led me down the rabbit hole and finding your video on it. Definitely a great watch! Houses of the Mole’ is my favorite Ministry album and I’m still sporting the hearing loss of standing in the front row of The Trocadero seeing them on that subsequent tour. Loudest concert I ever been too (my left ear rang for three days) but Al was on top of his game and he even came over toward us while we banging our heads and screaming every word off that album and he acknowledged us by sticking out his tongue while shaking his head wildly. It was really cool having that connection that he appreciated our appreciation of the new material. And since we had a band of our own at the time we were really interested in how the band was going to handle playing “WTV” live. All those samples and having to hit the notes on the guitar to simulate changing the channel at just right time was just funny to watch. It was like every band member was in a closed circle looking at each other for their timing cue and probably thinking in the back of their heads “why did Al put this on the fucking set list?!” They nailed it though and it was awesome having the video queued to each sample to go along with it. And speaking of nailing things…that Type O Negative video of your’s is phenomenal! Without question they are my favorite band of all time and your video is the perfect summary of the band’s career and captures the band’s brand of humor quite well. A perfect video for someone who is curious about the band to go check out. So many of things you said in that video I explained to various people at one time or another when getting them into the band especially because some of their material needs context. Like how “Der Untermensch” led to the allegations of racism which led to the responses “Kill All The White People” and “We Hate Everyone.” Which with further context you can see the band’s humor on the DVDs and start to understand that any allegation like that is far from the truth and that they’re just good natured edgelords. Let alone Josh being Jewish and all. It’s much easier to gather that fact just watching your video and understanding the band’s sense of humor like how you bring up Pete’s cat and “Bloody Kisses” or Playgirl and “I Like Goils.” Come to think of it, Type O Negative has tons of songs if taken too serious or literal they would make perfect “cancel culture” fodder. Makes me happy to know the fanbase is in on the joke. Nevertheless I’ll be continuing to binge your content and getting caught up!
