Yes yes yes Inkheart! I'm so happy you mentioned it cause I loved it so much when I was younger and I listen to the audiobook a lot when I study. So many people don't know it or don't like it, it was originally written in German (and I read it in German) and I do believe a lot of a book's charm gets lost when it's being translated.

Thank you for sharing all of these with us. I've been trying to find poetry books to read because recently I've had my mind set on introducing myself to them - I really don't know where to begin with them. You totally sold me on the Water Runs Red(!!!more ace representation!!!!) and I can't wait to get my hands on it. I am really excited! I'm currently reading 'the white book' by Han Kang. It follows the same characters through free verse poems. It talks about sadness, "mourning, rebirth and the tenacity of the human soul." I'm loving it so far and, actually, have my eyes on a few of her other books.

Thanks for this CeCe. I've been a subscriber a few years and have read and loved several of these. Others not so much. I don't like fantasy but enjoy magical realism. Two I've read recently that deal well with mental health are Natilie Tan's Book of Luck and Fortune and The Astonishing Color of After.

It’s so hard to come up with recommendations for you because most of the books I read are because of your recommendations. But I have a few. Backstagers by James Tynion IV - graphic novels about a group of high school boys in stage crew with some supernatural stuff going on, definitely Lumberjanes vibes. Waiting On a Bright Moon by J.Y. Yang - super short book about queer girls in space, strange but interesting. Seedfolks by Paul Fleischman - very sweet, short book about a community coming together via a garden in an empty lot.

In regards to poetry, I loved Femme in Public by Alok Vaid-Menon and Don't Call Us Dead by Danez Smith I can't really recommend Soft Science by Franny Choi and Night Sky with Exit Wounds by Ocean Vuong because I haven't read them yet, but Choi did blow my mind when she came to my campus and said that all humans are cyborgs so like, if nothing else I have high hopes for them (also all 4 collections are by queer poets of color)

omg there's going to be more Spell on Wheels?! Be still my heart! For poetry, my recommendation is always Depression and Other Magic Tricks by Sabrina Beniam. It's so good and I cried through like 90% of it. My favorite piece of hers is on youtube from a competition she did and it's called Explaining My Depression To My Mother and it's heartbreaking to watch, but so worth it.

Also Ella Enchanted is my absolute favorite book ever. I reread that on the daily!!!!!! Also idk if you've read Aristotle and Dante discover the Secret of the Universe, but that's one of my favorite books of all time, so maybe you'll like it:')))

I highly recommend that you read poetry collections by Karin Boye (1900-1941). She was a Swedish lesbian author who wrote both poetry and novels. I mostly recommend her poems, as they're very intimate and deal with both her struggles and loves. Though her work will be translated from Swedish and therefore not in its original form, I still think you'll enjoy it

Hey Cece. I loved This one summer. I love v e Schwab too. My favorite. Piecing me together, we are the ants and real queer America were so good. Read RqA on your rec. Thanks Cece. Will read graceling soon. I remember your video *if you didn't like that you might enjoy this* I think you compared throne of glass with graceling. I really did not like Evelyn Hugo. I thought it would be more literary. Daisy Jones audio book is awesome. I gotta admit. I didn't like wrinkle of time when I read it. Time for reread I suppose. I love color purple so much. I liked bits and pieces of whistle cafe . I enjoyed the f/f storyline but didn't care for the subplots. I found home going a tedious read. Reading constant shifting of pov and jumping from a country to other wasn't fun. Looking forward to Cantoras. I dnfd gone girl. I didn't really understand station eleven though. I wish they had omitted the politics from red white. I enjoyed the m/m Romance.

tosheatower apparently we must have entirely different definitions of contemporary. By “contemporary” are you referring to books written in the past 70 years? Because the definition of contemporary that I use in this video and the accepted definition used by most of BookTube is that contemporary refers to the time period of books, those set in a contemporary time in a real-world setting.
