Procreate Comic Book Canvas Size Set-up and Other Print Stuff

Күн бұрынIn this video, I talk about my canvas set up in Procreate, specifically for printing out my comics. Essentially, I set-up my comic book pages at the same size at which I intend to print them.
Just make sure the DPI is at least 300 DPI. I personally tend to use 300 DPI for my own comic book artwork I draw in Procreate.

I really appreciate your sharing this. You do awesome work in Procreate. One drawing for me takes so much time and energy that I can’t but marvel at comic book artists like yourself 👏🏼

Oh yeah, when I got my start in prepress/graphic design for printing, Quark was the standard. That and Rage Maker--I mean, Page Maker! :)

What CMYK color profile do you use for print? Also, what file type do you export to finish in IA?

The original artwork (be it scanned ink art or from Procreate) becomes a Photoshop PSD or TIF file. I give it the Colormatch RGB profile. In Adobe Illustrator, I place the colored artwork as PSD or TIF. The color profile in AI is set to Coated SWOP. I save these files as .ai. Then, final comic book is assembled in Adobe InDesign, placing those lettered .ai files in sequence in InDesign. From there, the book is finally exported out as one PDF file using Gracol CMYK. I usually print the floppies through Comix Well Spring. The hardcover book I print through Mixam.

What is the screen size to make the cover in Procreate and the pages?

I'm currently using these dimensions in Procreate: Pixel width: 3300px PIxel height: 5100px Physical width: 11" Physical height: 17" DPI: 300
