All the Amish and Mennonite people look noticeable healthier and more beautiful in their faces and their posture than the "normal" people. Plus they eradiate calm. I really love to watch them. Beautiful.

the girl in the pink dress is Esther Bates ...Bates being her married name. Shes married to Nate Bates from the UP Faith & Family show Bringing Up Bates... I had to watch it twice lol but thats her! They were married not far from this auction at the Star Barn.

I live in the heart of Lancaster County and these people are the salt of the community. The Amish are the nicest, most down to earth people you’d ever meet.

We live in Pennsylvania north of Lancaster, but we have several smaller Amish communities throughout the nearby counties. We always shop at their local stores for our produce.

Well they are in about 34 states and 4 or 5 provinces now. If you add in plain Brethren and Mennonites, we are almost everywhere rural- even expanding more into Latin America.

I would say they are Amish. They are wearing the typical Lancaster Amish coverings and they are wearing non-print dresses.

I have a problem with this video and I am going to try to express it in the best way possible. Most Amish and Mennonites have spiritual discipline, many are not vocal in where they can tell people to stop staring at them please. Most don't allow pictures and videos. They cannot walk around with a label letting people know if they don't welcome cameras. Please stop staring at them and stop taking pictures and uploading videos of them, specially of women and children if you did not ask them first. I can see in their facial expressions that they were not happy showing their faces on this video. Please ask first, they might allow it if its ok with their Biblical principles and colony.

I go to Amish produce auction every year. It is run by the Amish. Anyone can buy and sell produce there. I am never sure when we are at the farmers market people flock to the Amish. We bought our produce at the same place and bid against each other. Yet some how the Amish produce is better. LOL

I live in Manheim, Lancaster co Pa. There is nothing weird or odd in this film. This was probably shot at Roots,pronounced ruts. It is a gigantic farmers market and Auction which takes place about 2 miles down the road from me every Tues yr round. If the produce is not in season, it is shipped in and the Amish and mennonites sell it. Most of the people u see in this film are Mennonites. But the ladies at 7:20 are Amish. But I doubt they are old order. U can tell by the color of their buggies. Amish are becoming a little more modern as I seen a couple in Walmart’s Subway using a cell phone. The will ride in SUVs but only black ones. And to dispell the myth of the Amish Mafia, there isn’t one. Amish are not the peaceful god fearing group everyone thinks the are. They are well know for child abuse. Two yrs ago one Amish man was arrested for beating his horse so bad, the horse had to be put down. They are one of biggest puppy mill owners in the US and one little puppy was rescued, which was left for dead. Last yr our put into law the Libre law, making animal cruelty a felony, which carries 15,000 in fines, 7 yrs in prison. The little puppy, libre, put his paw print on the law, as he was a victim and the reason the law was introduced. Another myth, is that Lancaster is not a little town with horses and buggy’s tied to a hitching post. It is a city!

A lot of the produce at an auction was grown with pesticides unless otherwise noted. Amish are no different in that area than anyone else. Some use pesticides and herbicides and others grow organically but usually if it's organic, it'll be advertised like that

Agreed. Who doesn't know it's inappropriate to photograph Plain People? If they have faith-based reasons for not being photographed, everyone needs to respect that. As far as this guy's focus on the beautiful young girls, that's just perverse.

Mennonite. Mostly all Amish only wear solid colors. Many times you will see blue shades, but they wear grey or shades of green or other colors. Old order Amish are the most strict. They will only wear solid colors and will have white bonnets. There are Amish that are less strict, and will wear the same colors, but may have some patterns. They may also use some electric tools and things like that. But if you see women wearing bright patterned dresses and they don't have a cap on, they most likely are not Amish.

printaboul yes Amish farmers are permitted to use tractors for certain things but they are not allowed to own them. There are certain other farm tasks that they are permitted to use gas or diesel motors to make the task easier and quicker such as on the sawmills, grain processing equipment , etc

The vast majority of the people are OO Mennonite not Amish. They typically do not have as hard of a stance against camera's as the OO Amish.
