I love Filter and it's definitely super polished and sexy but it's definitely one of Jimin's most chill choreos haha. His other two solos Serendipity and Lie show off his technique way more. I would love to see Lindsey break them down! He's definitely one of the most versatile dancers in the industry. Brian Puspos choreographed Serendipity and you can see him watching and commenting on it on the Steezy channel in their Jimin reaction video 😊 he choreographed Butterfly for BTS as well!

If I remember correctly Jimin was not feeling a 100% during these two days and he still pulled off such a flawless performance. I swear he is like the living and breathing deity of dance.

Filter's lyrics are a play on how fans project different filters on him and see him the way they want to instead of the way he really is hence the different outfit changes showing his different personas. It's one of my favorite songs off MOTS for sure 😊

jimin is a contemporary dancer, that's why his movements and hands look so delicate, if you want to see more of how brilliant he is in contemporary I recommend you to watch the music video of black swan and his live performance of his solo song serendipity (a beautiful r&b song.)

For me Jimin is first of all a dancer. He worked a lot, and continues to work on his voice his singing, but he started years after dance. As a child he went to clases, academies to study different hip-hop styles but also different martial arts, so the control over his body, the discipline, and then the elegance in movement he had and showed more of when he chosed contemporary dance as speciality. ❤️Jimin

♦️Jimin said in an interview that he wanted the concept of the song to be to present himself to the world in many different ways! Jimin also said that it's about perspective & prejudices as well!! Aside from saying in the song that I can be anything you (army) want me to be for you, I believe that Jimin is also trying to tell so many army that keep saying things like he's insecure, weak, or helpless, and needs protecting, or just cute or sexy, or just any one thing, whatever army indeed wants to think he is, isn't the real him! That he wears whatever 'filter' that army wants him to be, but indeed in reality is so not him!! That's why army are continually surprised when they see a glimmer of the real Jimin, the way more self assured, demonstrative, take charge, confident, charismatic, alluring, at times sexy, person that kills on stage! So this (pure genius) song, that the CEO 'Hit-Man Bang' (called that since way back when, as a producer, whatever he was involved in became a hit) Mr. Bang Si Hyuk, himself, was actually involved in writing the ever so genius lyrics, that Jimin had a hand in as well. The song's lyrics have more then one meaning!! So Jimin has pretty much been doing this since the beginning, playing the role of whatever army seems to prefer for him, but in actuality, hardly anyone knows the real Jimin! So much more then what many army believe him to be. Plus since Jimin never talks much about all his amazing past achievements, abilities, and accomplishments, even before ever joining BTS, many army are still unaware of so much.

Speaking of thread mill, they sing while on a thread mill to strengthen their lung capacity to be able to sing live while dancing without sounding out-of-breath. They also practice their choreography while singing and wearing face/flu mask for the same reason. BTS are the greatest performers alive! Also, Jimin is a contemporary/modern dance major and is the top in the whole department.

Jimin is one of the unique artists of our time, I would say I don't know anyone at his level. He is a very versatile person. He is amazing and very talented. And its beauty is indescribable

Jimin is an amazing dancer and performer, and Filter is by far one of the most creative choreographies that's really entertaining from beginning to end. It's also cool whether you hear it from others or not that when you see him move you see the influence and smoothness from the king of pop but also from his training as a dancer that makes him extraordinary. MJ's nephew Taj Jackson who's also a fan of BTS praised Jimin and also found a resemblance of Jimin with his uncle and I could say that didn't surprised anyone that much lol, but there's honestly no telling how much damage Jimin can do in the future with his songs and solo performances. He's only getting started, so hopefully you check out more from him and his bro's!

Not sure if anyone else has commented this but the major costume change is a camera cut. This performance was pre-recorded for their Map Of The Soul ON:E online concert held in October 2020 during the pandemic. Jimin really wanted to do the full costume change on stage but they couldn't get it fast enough for that section of the song so they recorded to that point, then picked up again after the costume change. All of this is explained in their making of/behind the scenes video for that concert.

This was great, thank you both 🙏💜 Yes, Jimin is trained, he did popping/locking/ hip hop in middle school, and went to an arts high school where he was the top student in contemporary dance - and he also did a few different martial arts for many years (Taekwondo, Kendo, Hapkido) - this is maybe why he is so versatile, fluid, and powerful…He became a kpop trainee at the age of 16 and debuted with BTS at 17, so this was all as a youngster. He only had one year of training, and he had not sung before becoming a trainee - and yes, you are right, he has mentioned working really hard on improving his voice… It’s also interesting that you mention Chris Brown - In the early BTS days, Jimin mentioned him as an influence 😂🤷‍♂️

Omg! Jimin is a huge fan of Chris Brown actually! 😂 Edit: the part where he changes his clothes is pre recorded. At the beginning, he was going to have the red suit underneath the black one but there were so many clothes that Jimin would end up exhausted every time he rehearsed. He didn’t want that to happen on the real concert (Jimin is a perfectionist). That’s why he decided to prerecord that part. That’s why the camera angle changes like that. 2 dances that amazed me the most of Jimin was hes solo at the 2019 MMA awards, and the black swan solo dance he did in one of the online concerts. It blew my mind and I could feel the feelings he was expressing and dancing has never moved me like that before. The other day performance of Filter has a wider shot and you can see his feet better. Jimin was trained as a contemporary dancer and was considered the best dancer at his school for the Arts. Hey Lindsey :) Jimin was trained in hip hop and contemporary before Bts and he also did a lot of Martial Arts. So that's some of the different influences you see in his dancing. There is actually a different camera angle of this performance that focuses more on the whole body so you see the foot work and hand movements more. Filter is sexy but lie & serendipity choreographies are mind blowing specially lie, queen lie was such a personal song with crazy choreography but nobody can pull off like park jimin. Lie choreography has been covered by so many kpop idols & main dancers, bcuz it's that much amazing. But please if ever you gonna react to lie please react to soeul concert lie performances bcuz unlike serendipity lie stage mix didn't do justice to that freaking amaizing choreography. ❤️❤️❤️

Jimin majored in contemporary in high school and also had training in popping and other dance style throughout his middle school. Loved to see this response! I agree with some of the other commenters that Day 2 of this performance was a little better, but that costume change at the end still blows my mind. (And yes, Blake, shame on you, this is Jimin's solo piece. 🤣 Also, RM is the leader, not V.) And it may be a little distracting when you're watching the choreo, but there ARE subtitles available on most of their MVs, if you want to know what they're saying. Their lyrics are really amazing. Especially with Filter-- the costume changes go hand-in-hand with the lyrics ("Mix the colors in the palette, pick your filter / Which me do you want? / To change your world, I'm your filter / Overlay me in your heart")

This video definitely shows Jimins duality , if you didn't know Jimin and saw his vlives or interviews or the run bts shows you can see is actually a bit shy, very sweet , can be a bit sassy, but but him on stage and this sexy force of nature comes out. So yeah this a great video that shows that. Also with the costume change I thought maybe it was stopped he changed then started up again but I actually saw yesterday how he does it in rehearsal and how he did struggle with the change but it was amazing how hard he works. Jimin always has struggled with confidence he is much better now but he didn't think he had a great voice and struggled early on to find that confidence he has now. Bedore becoming a trainee; Jimin was a top student in Modern Dance at Busan High School of Arts. There is an interview with his old teacher that even speaks about how serious Jimin was with getting his body in shape and how she had never seen a kid his age with the muscle tone he had developed. His core strength is also unbelievable if you ever catch some of the backstage videos where he starts doing the matrix move of leaning back he can get his back almost parallel to the floor with out using his hands. He is just an amazing Dancer and his singing is just wow! He is a very high tenor. Jimin has the highest out of all BTS, it is said he starts around an E4 and peaks around a C#5 in his chest / mixed chest range (I sometimes wonder if he could go even higher). I have also read where he sings naturally at about 5 to 6 notes higher than the average man. To put it in perspective, the average tenor I believe usually peaks around note G4 for chest.

Park Jimin is definitely the most talented idol of our generation. Vocal and dance wise, he is so versatile and unique. He CARRIES the industry like no other.

He studied contemporary dance you even see him sometimes in the classic ballet pose. In one of their performance's of Black Swan Joonkook picks him up in the classic Ballet pose. At the same school he part of Contemporary dance was Jazz and Ballet and he was top of all his classes. He also danced hip hop so yes he's multi talented dancers and he'll put his martial arts training into some of his routines as well.

Last weekend BTS had their 1st concert in Seoul in 2 years. A month ago, Jimin had his Appendix removed. SURGERY!!!! You should have seen his high kicks during the concert. He didn't miss an Inch. My guess is he was kicking 6 ft high easily. It was amazing. The man danced like he hadn't been through surgery. I'm thinking at least 2 weeks to heal and then dancing? What? It was amazing to watch. He's such a PRO!

My granddaughter 9 saw some clips of Michael Jackson,and she phoned. Me and said “he dances like Jimin” nanna.. We laughed until we cried,that is a real gem..Love always

Jimin was trained in hip hop/ street dance and contemporary/ modern dance ( at 4 to 5 years combined training ) before he became a member of BTS. Jimin and Hobie are the Main dancers in BTS which are the highest ranking dance positions available in Kpop. Jimin is also the only lead vocalist in BTS which is the second highest vocal position in Kpop ( Jungkook is the main/ highest ranked in the group ). Jimin's Filter is referring to the artist becoming what the fans want to please their appetite. He flirts with the fans idea of who they want him to be by providing a mirage of some sort for their imaginations to be satisfied pulling them deeper into many fictional characters. Filter is all about the seduction of illusion that fans ask for and the artist loves to provide. Jimin is a brilliant performer and once you Jim-in you can't ( for real, no joke ) Jim-out😜! So glad you like this performance; I wish you could have seen the full body version of this performance. Jimin is so amazingly talented, and as BTS wants to be known as BTS and not as other talented artists, even the Beatles, I hope you get to where you don’t look for influences of MJ, Chris Brown, Bruno Mars, but see it as original BTS. Because they’ve been at it over a decade and have more than earned it.
