"XXX" in Roman numerals is 30, which is exactly the number of chest compressions in CPR (30 chest compressions + 2 rescue breaths, then repeat the cycle). The men in orange (representing the firefighters) also have "911" in Roman numerals on their helmet.

the song is about taking medication to deal with depression, suicidal thoughts “pop a 911” as in pop a pill that’ll make those thoughts go away in the video it seems that she was off her meds and maybe purposely rode her bike into traffic because of her being of her meds she made a suicide attempt. i got this from when the nurse asked if she was on any meds and she said no. and she was saying sorry if i was on my meds this would’ve never happened after stuff. most of the first part of the video shows what she’s seeing in reality but in a different form

Entire video explanation 1) Black Horseman in a White Desert - This signifies the poster for New Mexico Gaga saw before the accident. He may also signify Death or her body luring her deeper in her mind. 2) The Red Mask - This is the blood from the accident. 3) Bike with Pomegranates - The first real element in Gaga's vision. Most probably the victim of the collision. Pomegranates simultaneously signify life and death. 4) The Red Anklet - Gaga's broken foot in real life. 5) Walking to the White Chapel - This is the movie poster Gaga saw. This can also signify the deepest recesses of her mind, protecting her from trauma. 6) Pillow Man - Another victim of the accident who crashed on his steering wheel. 7) Black Girl in Blue - The first spectator to the accident. Most likely the one who called 911. 8) Two Yellow Men Holding a Door - These are two firemen holding the car door to get Gaga out of the mangled vehicle. Their hats have '911' written on them in roman numerals. The yellow men were blindfolded because the firemen wore black goggles. 9) Woman Holding a White Body - A woman holding a victim who got hit by the car. The white body even has red lace signifying blood. 10) Additional Three People in Blue - Additional spectators filming the whole thing. 11) Yellow Man Mixing a Cauldron - This is a fireman and a smoking car wreckage. 12) The Latin Guy in Black and the Black Mary in White - These are the paramedics trying to save Gaga's life. 13) The Spinning Umbrella - The paramedics descending via a helicopter. 14) The Purse with the Picture of the Doll - This signifies the pills that would have made her stable. Did she cause the accident? 15) The Latin Guy Strangling the White Mummy - The paramedic was checking for a pulse. 16) The Black Mary Covering the Pillow Man with a Sheet - This was the paramedic covering the victim with a thermal blanket. 17) A Man with Dog Ears whose Face is Being Covered by the Latin Man - The paramedic giving oxygen to one of the victims. 18) The Black Mary Flashing a Mirror on Gaga - The paramedic was flashing her flashlight on Gaga's pupil's looking for consciousness. Gaga in the dreamscape is her consciousness. 19) Gaga Floating Away with a Rose - This signifies Gaga's consciousness/life leaving her body. They even have the bird sign in their hats. 25) The Blue Streamers Waving in the Wind - This was the fire hydrant spewing water. 26) The Peacock - This represented Armenia in the Armenian Film Festival signage. 27) The Black Mary Holding a Snake - This is the snake in the cross logo of the paramedics. 28) Gaga in Yellow Spasming - This is Gaga's body rejecting the medication/treatment. 29) The Mural - This was the scene of what really happened. Gaga is now getting closer to surfacing to reality. 30) The Latin Guy Touching Her Heart Area - The paramedic giving her heart pumps and CPR. 31) Gaga in Black Floral Outfit - This is Gaga being put in a full-body brace. The curtain also might have fallen in the background to signify her impending death, the body bag. This is why, as a last-ditch effort, the paramedics used the defibrillator. 32) The Box - This is the defibrillator. 33) The Virgin Sacrifice - As dream world and real world collide, the vision concludes in a terrifying sacrificial scene as the pain comes rushing in. It's interesting that the knife that kills her in the dream world is the current of electricity that brings her to life in the real world. 34) 'I didn't have my pills!' - This suggests that she caused the accident because she wasn't stable because she did not have her medication. 35) LG Advertisement - 'Life is good.' Ironic, isn't it?

okay just to clarify, I understood the concept of the video, the accident, the foreshadow through symbolism, basic plot, I just think there's more to it than that. Like why, specifically, did she choose those things to represent what actually happened in the accident. For example, the man on the horse was from the poster, but why did she choose to have the poster feature him looking like he did in the first place? if that makes sense hahaha

This song is actually about an antipsychotic medication named olanzapine that saved her life in relation to mental illness (my biggest enemy is me, pop a 911) when she was rushed to the E.R due to a psychotic break. The same thing happened to me and I had to be put on the same exact medication, she stated how her whole body went numb, she could do nothing but scream, it’s terrifying and nobody should ever have to experience a psychotic break, it is absolutely horrifying and indescribable when you’re completely ripped from reality, feeling like you’re trapped in an endless void, you feel like everything is out to hurt or kill you, becoming completely and absolutely emotionally blunted unable to express any feelings (I can’t see me cry this is the end) this is also why she portrays a robotic tone in her voice, completely dissociated from reality, unable to come to terms with anything around you, completely lost. There is truly nothing more traumatic than a psychotic break. Recovery time is different for everyone, it can take as little as 1 week to over a year. I am just happy I survived and am still alive to inform people and share my experience about this grave and perilous state of mind, to let people know how crucial mental health actually is.

Been waiting for you to do this one! The video is based around the Armenian film, The Colour of Pomegranates. Everything in the accident scene at the end is portrayed throughout the first part. The guys in yellow = the firemen. The men in blue = the police. The Saint and the man floating down by the umbrella = the paramedic and doctor landing by helicopter. The guy banging his head = the man hitting the steering wheel/airbag. The lady holding the mummy = the lady holding the man in the street. The folks in blue = the folks holding the selfie stick taking photos. And the list goes on! When you watch it again, pay attention to when the paramedic pulls her back down to earth. There is a split second (maybe 3 frames) where it flashes to her waking up on the stretcher before falling back into her dreamlike state wearing the bloody red costume. This video is genius! We are either going to get Replay next (see the scars on her forehead in the final dream sequence before she is recucitated i.e., the scars on my mind are on replay), or we are going to get Sine From Above! I think Sine is coming because Elton was filming a few weeks ago with his piano in front of a green screen... either way I cannot wait to see what comes next!!!

I got the same interpretation when I first heard the song on the album, but not from the video. Fun Tonight, 911, and Plastic Doll all gave me vibes of her struggling with her persona “Lady Gaga,” and like you said always trying to one up herself. Her biggest enemy is Lady Gaga. She has this expectation to release hit after hit, only making dance music. In one of her latest interviews, she talks about going through depression and hating her piano for making her Lady Gaga, but in the end she found a way to love herself again.

Just my thought, 911 is about her anti psychotic medicine and how she feels without them and how they became her 911 and helped them In the video, her drifting of to death seems like a good thing and returning back to life is horrible While in reality it's opposite Maybe, it's about how without the pills one can have suicidal thoughts and try to get away from the world, how these hallucinations can affect someone

During the video she was hallucinating because her brain transformed various images and people around her. She had red bracelet on her feet which represents a wound on her feet. The woman with mummy is woman with her dead boyfriend. The guy who was hitting his head on the pillow is the guy in the car with his head on the airbag. Woman with red cross and guy with long hair are a pair of medics that try to rescue her.

I hate when people say this is a dream because it’s not. She is dead / stuck in between death and unconsciousness, since her heart has stopped and is revived twice. The one time is the quick flash in the middle, they bring her back for only a short moment. With the other at the end successfully bringing her back to life. It’s a beautiful imagery of the transition from a heart stopping and causing death. Lack of oxygen to the brain causes this in between death and life state. The heart stops but the brain activity is still happening for a short while after. I just think it’s incredible how she portrayed this!

The video actually depicts mental health struggles pop a 911 (prescription drugs) Gaga had gotten into a car accident. Each person from the Parademic to the nurse represents her subconscious when she goes into a state of shock and has an outer body experience with each character. Including the movie poster which depicts a man in a black horse.The video pretty much explains itself.

There’s a specific experimental Armenian film a lot of the imagery was based on called Sayat-Nova or The Color of Pomegranates if anyone is curious.

Well actually, you see it at the very end of the clip, she had an accident and broke her ankle (hence the red ankle bracelet) and has a concussion (hence the red mask). The guy bumping his head on the pillow was in his car and severed his head on the stirring wheal, the woman with the mummy is mourning her dead friend, the guys in blue are just passers by, they’re watching the whole scene, in the reality. And finally the black woman in white dress is the emergency and the beefy guy is a firefighter, and the beginning they appear to come down with an umbrella referring to a siren. So I think she’s half dead/conscious and this whole video is the final vision she has of the reality before she’s brought back to life
