The difference in better man and babe is just pure perfection. She really went for it.

So Forever Winter was apparently about her friend who died of a drug overdose when she was in her early twenties i think. Which makes the tone of the song very melancholic, and Jack nails melancholy and nostalgia so damn well. It hits so much harder.

Message in a bottle was actually the first song she did with max Martin so that's why it was more pop leaning in production, it was kind of the lead up to the pop production in 1989

Just can't believe recorded a whole new album as the vault songs. Other artists has 10 songs as a stand alone album and Taylor puts it on one 30 song album genius like always.

This is the right time to listen to Phoebe Bridgers’ Punisher. It is also one of the best albums of last year. She’s also a great songwriter, probably the reason why Taylor loves her music - to the point that she became a part of Red TV.

Message In A Bottle is a cute song tho. It would have been a big hit back in 2012 but it belongs more to the 1989 Vault in my opinion.

I would love to watch a video of you analising and comparing both versions of Red, what has changed production wise, in her voice, etc.

My favorite of the re-recordings(not vault songs) is everything has changed. Ed and Taylor are my favorite artists. They both were in really tough places emotionally back in 2011/12 when they wrote these songs. He didn’t like himself and she was wresting with “what if this all ends” plus bad breakups and people telling her she was just the crazy ex girlfriend. Now they’re both happy. She’s been with someone she loves for 5 years, he’s married his high school sweetheart and has a baby. They both ooze happiness these days. So the happy song they wrote is like a happy peaceful homage to a really good friendship that saw them through their tumultuous twenties.

You should totally do the rest of her songs if only because I'm dying to hear you break the production of them down. Especially Girl At Home that is so different from the original

Forever Winter was co-written with Mark Foster from Foster the People and he did backing vocals. To me it does give off foster the people vibes.

Nothing New and Forever Winter are my favourite songs. I honestly prefer Fearless as an album, but the Vault songs in RED are better (just my taste of course). THANKS for the video!

Edit: I'd love to see you do a comparison of the production on Girl at Home OG and TV! The production on Nothing New makes you feel like Taylor at 18, 22 and now are just sitting at the end of your bed singing this song together. Very intimate sound and the doubles, harmonies and call and response make it feel like she's reflecting but also looking forward.

The Music Lesson is such a good book. Message In A Bottle has grown on me. It was her first song written with Max Martin and Shellback.

31:50 her accent in her debut album is very similar to this! she lost her country accent as she's moved into pop music, but her older stuff (yes, the stolen versions, i know) definitely has this kind of phonetic stress.

I love the song Run, and the lyrics remind me of Ed Sheeran’s song Photograph. I just noticed that you pointed out the “double” in the voice when phoebe and taylor sing, i think it is just them singing on a different key and then layered. The style has been used in some tracks from evermore and folklore. Phoebe also has this on a lot of her songs, definitely inspired by her musical hero - Elliott Smith. Elliott is like one of the most influential artists in the indie folk scene.

I didn’t like Message In A Bottle too at first. But it grew on me! The song is so catchy. No wonder, because Shellback and Martin co-written it.
