Rose gold is an alloyed mixture of gold & primarily copper but if it is going to be a low karat rose gold then they will add a little bit of silver to prevent the copper from causing too much tarnishing after the product is finished because copper is highly corroded metal with just oxygen and water. White gold will have a mixtures alloy of gold & nickel to get the color change and again they will use silver to keep the strength of the alloy up with preventing as easily from being tarnished/corroded after the product is done. You are right in general about the cost for identical karat golds to be valued at white/rose/yellow because of the amount of extra work involved to make the alloy is probably what fetches the higher premium.

So I googled vivid red natural diamond... jaw dropping prices! I'd say 3 and a half million dollars for a 2ct red diamond omg

White gold and yellow gold and Rose gold are all of the same value and the value is based on pure gold Spot. That means the Spot value, and this is the Wholesale market price of gold per ounce broken down into fractions of a gram and then marked up to retail. Retail is obviously unlimited and based on many retail details. You also have a wonderful jewelry collection, I have what I feel is a parallel collection of variety but on a different scale but just as much appreciated. Lastly I bring up rose gold. You expressed some interest in how it comes to be and you are right! It is mixed up with another ingredient and that magic ingredient is just plain old pure copper. Rose gold is a combination of pure gold and pure copper. That’s it :-) The very last thing I wanted to tell you and Adam, hey buddy :-), is that the purity content of gold jewelry can be determined by multiplying the karat value times four.
