"Hello everyone, it’s Andy here with another video for you guys. At Securefix Direct we pride ourselves on the service we provide to our customers. We have been asked by a customer about shackles and their differences so in this video we would like to show you the differences.
As you can see we have a wide variety of shackles.
There are two main types; bows and dees.
Bow shackles can take loads in multiple directions, with the wider opening allowing for multipoint connections, whereas dees are narrower so have a single point connection as they need the load to be in a line. Both types of shackle can have a variety of pins making them suitable for a wide range of applications:
Screw pins are the most popular, their nice and simple to use simply screw out and screw back in hence being popular.
The safety option, has a safety pin at the end this prevents the nut from coming completely undone, giving you that extra added safety feature.
Countersunk, need tools to undo so are less likely to get undone by accident, this one for example is a screwdriver slot it is also flush so it won’t get snagged.
We have captive pins captive pins you simply unscrew them, the pin can’t come out so you can’t actually lose the pin, which makes it a fantastic tool.
The final one we are going to talk about today is the Square Head, square heads can be tightened with a power tool such as a drill, allowing for quick and easy installation of multiple shackles.
Our shackles come in a range of materials and finishes, such as stainless steel which is ideal for marine, it wont rust and is aesthetically pleasing.
Galvanised such as these general use with rust protection, and self colour, self colour is generally used with no rust protection but it can be painted as required.
