That's a good point about the padding size. I wonder if others have had this issue. That's great to hear the worked out great on tour otherwise. And the fact they're snug enough to not get sweat inside the phones is a good point I didn't think about either.

Is there much bleed with the mic?

I'd say they are close to hearing protection headphones as far as isolation. I sure as hell can't hear my bandmates talking when the room is quiet and I have them on.

Yea that would be cool if not for the bleed.

I more recently found out that the left was the correct side when something sounded slightly off while I was checking a mix. Oh well. I make a note of it now. It is a very odd thing to have a chord on the left side when most things in general are right sided.

I'm not sure how loud the room you are working in is, but when I practice with either a band or tracks, I can hear all the mic'd and mixed instruments as well as my mic'd and mixed drums more than I can hear my drumset, and I mostly play extreme metal and hit fairly hard so I'm pretty loud lol. My headphones aren't turned up very loud so I don't damage my hearing, but I can hear everything clearly, including clicks, guitars, bass, vocals,etc., without having to compete with my drumset. When I play with them on and then take them off to do a quick comparison, my drumset itself is immensely louder than what's coming through my headphones, including outside noise. Every other pair of headphones I used before I had to wear ear protection because I had to turn them up to compete with the room, but these work great for me. They most likely will work for you, they definitely isolate well at -25dB. The 770s probably weren't designed for isolation, and in a normal setting I'm sure the Vic Firth maybe don't sound as good as your 770s, but they'll definitely give you good isolation.

Thank you and a late Merry Christmas to you! I hope I'm not too late in my response. I would say the sound is going to be a bit different due to the fact that they sit more snug on your head. They don't make the drums sound like trash cans in my opinion, but they aren't going to sound like a $1000 pair of high end headphones, since almost all the sound travels directly to your ears and not the rest of the room. So you'll probably get a bit more of the low end in your mix as well, but they generally don't make the mix ultra muddy. They do a pretty good job of having everything cut through without knocking things out. I generally hear my cymbals well and clearly along with my kicks, snare and toms. I've been pretty happy with mine over the last 6 or 7 months.

Well that sucks, sorry to hear that. Sounds like a defected pair. I haven't had any issues with mine.

They're going to sound decent, especially for blocking out outside noise and good low end response, but they're not going to sound like a super high end set of headphones. The good part is you don't have to crank the volume up in your headphones.

Yes, you will definitely hear the music more than most other headphones. Your drums won't overshadow the music from your phone.

That's a good question. I haven't actually tested that out. They will definitely isolate your noisy neighbors out, but as far as cinema quality, I'm not exactly sure. You wouldn't need to crank them really loud since they snug up nicely and are super dense, but that's an experiment I should try out.

I was looking at these for the exact same thing not digging the noise cancellation headphones where they need to charge and batteries break down

You don't need a headphone amp to use them. Since I send out individual mixes to myself and my bandmates' headphones while recording, I use a headphone amp for that purpose.
