Amazing concept, I was thinking last 3 days if I will buy it or not.. If I would travel a lot I would buy it. Or if I could imagine that for everyday use, I would also spend that money, but I cant imagine to go to supermarket and open the whole backpack from the back. The standard opening from the top is the only thing what is missing from perfection from my eyes. Desing also great, good job

I would immediately order the complete set if the daypack could be used as a camera backpack. Of course, not a big DSLR set with 800mm lens, but a mirrorless set with appropriate travel lenses, a pocket for a water bottle on the side and a little extra space for a rain jacket or something to eat. There is simply no travel backpack for photographers that can hold luggage AND camera. You can only ever take one of each. The basic modular concept of this backpack would be perfect for that. In theory. In practice, unfortunately, this does not work again.

If you're looking for a daypack that can carry around your camera gear, I would suggest picking up the Peter McKinnon Cube Pack (around 120 bucks). It has great versatility and I have used it as a daypack for storing camera gear (Sony A7iii, 24-70 lens, DJI Mini 2, GoPro Hero 9) as well as some water bottles, sweaters, etc. It was my best friend during my one-month trip to Asia. Carried it on the front while I had my Osprey backpack on my back. You can also compress the daypack so it becomes just a camera cube and store it directly in your backpack. It's awesome!

For any bag upwards of 200$ I feel like a lifetime warranty should be in place, otherwise, the moving parts are a liability. The modularity of this bag at the expense of fabric strength is a key one, and one that people should consider when thinking about this bag! Btw, warranty is of 2 years from purchase. So second hand buyers, be aware.

Yeah, any bag that’s crazy expensive needs a lifetime warranty or at least a really long one.

Companies that offer a lifetime warranty: Jansport, AER, Mission Workshops, Osprey, Tom Binh... (an incomplete list to say the least, but buy it once, and buy it for life- maybe better than buying multiple bags over the course of your life)

This bag looks like it could be really amazing, I just wish that there was a more detailed video of the bag specifics, maybe a good video going through the inside of the bag? Using the lighter colored bag would probably help to detail certain aspects of the bag as the black on black is hard to see.

I think the biggest question that never gets answered in these bag reviews and reveals is how comfortable these bags are to carry. If you load that thing out with 66 liters of gear, are you going to hate actually carrying it?

Missed chance to make a complete fannypack of the hip strapa. Also, if it rains, do you need to carry the daypack seperatly? The shell is kind of waterproof right? Why didnt you make this bag from the same material? This was one of the reasons i chose the shell above other big backpacks, because of a needed rainfly I like you made the sidepockets more elastic. My 1L bottle has problems fitting my Shell sidepockets when its packed.

A wish for a Shelter 2: Any viable option for ‘the everyday hustle’ needs a front pocket or similar quick access. In any office, study or otherwise ‘hustly’ urban setting, neither claiming huge table real estate for opening a bag clamshell-style nor reaching into the dark abyss of a rolltop of this magnitude are a feasible option. Maybe take a cue from Peak Design’s side access concept. Pity, since the bag otherwise showcases so many great ideas. Keep it up! Hoping for a revised version 😌

@@tylercenteno589 sorry about that! We're passing on your comment to our team so the color seems even in all platforms. It is a subtle olive color with a matte finish.

Hey There, this backpack looks amazing and im thinking about buying it for my World travel next year. My only concern about it is the fabric quality. on the website it says the pack only weights 1.5 Kilos. That seems a bit light for a high quality fabric. Can someone give me a review on the quality? 😊 thanks in advance !

Anyone know the specifications (width/height) of the laptop compartment?
@raoulduke6650

I wonder if the backpack is sturdy enough. There are no metal rods inside, and as far as I can see, only the back seems to provide some support to keep its shape. What happens if you don't use the Wardrobe System? Does the backpack collapse like a wet sack? Also, I'm concerned about the seams - the material looks relatively cheap and not durable in the video

I visited the Shelter backpack in a store in Berlin. The quality was better than expected but I'm absolutely unsure about the shoulder straps. They are very thin and absolutely not padded. The same with the hip belt. And the the widt is of the backpack is not tht much - he is very thin. And they are some "features" I can't really go with. For example the Laptop holder - Why there is not the same feature like the Shell has? It's very simple, no small bags for cables and trough the hole for the drinking strap could rain get trough - and since there is no bag or something, it goes directly on your Laptop. And everybody who goes hicking or something knows, that you start using the rain cover first when the rain gets heavier.

Stop making amazing stuff! 😡 I already have the Lava trainers, Shell backpack, NS40, and NS60... Now I want this 😂 absolutely love your stuff; keep up the good work 😍 especially want the drybag and vacuum laundry bag. You're costing me a fortune 😂 Also; is the new toiletry pack the same size as the original FidLock one? And on that note, how come you've dropped the magnetic attachment system from this bag? 😭 Would be nice if the TropicFeel ecosystem had better backward compatibility for older products so they're not just modular, but interchangable too, ie the fanny pack/waist strap

I have a question for the @Tropicfeel guys - I am looking for a backpack that would last a ten day journey up to Kilimanjaro and back. Has the bag been given a road test to see if it can handle the kind of punishment one could expect from such a trip? I am comparing it to Osprey and Peak Design and I really like the quality of all your other products which is why I would love to continue supporting you.

Hey! The Shelter backpack is made to withstand all kinds of experiences, especially in the great outdoors. It is no longer in pre-order, so we recommend looking at the experiences shared by travelers who have taken it around the world.

I know it’s late but if it still applies and for others. This is not a hiking or mountaineering backpack. It’s ok for travelling moving from hostel/hotel to hostel/hotel but the straps are so thin, the back padding is not ideal with little ventilation (an expected compromise as it is a clamshell). It’s a decent pack for travelling and light walking but any actual hiking and adventuring like Kilimanjaro, you’d certainly be better off with an osprey - ideally one with a frame that can retain its stricture - this bag can be like a sack of potatoes

@@Tropicfeel It survived all the way to the summit of Kilimanjaro and back. My only complaint would be that there is not a good way to integrate a camelback into it - apart from that its ideal as a daypack on the mountain.

I am deeply disappointed with this backpack. First of all: The overall design and concepts of the backpack are really really good. But there is one thing that is not good at all, and that ruins everything! However, when I received the package, I found that the shoulder straps are purely not padded. Not at all! On top of that, these are very hard, with sharp cutting seams. This hurts my shoulders already just after a couple of minutes! This unfortunately makes all the other points won by the backpack again nullified. This should not be in a product in this price range. Please consider this for future products!

I like the concept although the wardrobe seems to limit the amount of clothes you can pack. I feel like i couldnt fit enough if I travel for a longer time and I do not want to wash every 4 days. Also I dont see where I could pack more than one pair of shoes. As a women I would like to travel with an extra pair of sneakers and a pair of sandals and flipflops as well as one pair for special occasions. Maybe their is more space than i think and its just difficult to see it in these videos? If you are “extremely”minimalistic you could maybe use it for a trip that lasts more than 1 month.
