I never use my dishwasher. In fact, I have some rarely used dishes stored in there. I find I need to practically wash my dishes before putting them in the dishwasher, so...if I'm already mostly washing, I may as well just finish the job. I actually find it therapeutic. It bugs a lot of people, but hey, you do you.

I am with you on the hand washed dishes! I have a brand new dishwasher that came with my brand new house and I don’t use it. It takes too much water, electricity, and it makes the dishes look scratched and frosted… they look worn out before their time. I’m pretty minimal and a dishwasher would require me to have extra dishes to make sure I have enough to get through all the meals in a day. I like knowing everything was cleaned up right away…. Not sitting waiting for other dishes to be dirty to fill the dishwasher.

I don’t have a dishwasher either. In my previous house I did, but this house didn’t have one & there really isn’t space for one. But, you’re right, you don’t want to run it til it’s full & it never fails you need something you put in there. So, I too use extremely hot water. Now I do fill my sink with the hot water & soap & let the dishes sit for a little while, then I get up & wash them. There’s just me & my husband so not much to wash. I make a similar dish I call super nachos. I serve it with shredded lettuce, chopped onion, avocado extra shredded cheese & tomatoes . Then we pour it over Tostito chips. Oh sour cream too. Yummy! 😊❤🙏See you next time.

I wash dishes by hand. 1. If you use a dish washer, most of the time they aren’t being washed until washer is full, so you have a ton of hidden dirty dishes which bothers me. 2. It IS faster and I use soap and hot water, most of my dishes are done by the time we are eating then a quick wash after and 3. I ENJOY WASHING DISHES, for me, it’s relaxing to me.

I fill half my sink with soapy water and soak my dishes while while I clean and wipe down my kitchen. I thoroughly clean my kitchen each time I cook. I then put the dishes in my dishwasher and wash pans by hand, dry them, and put them away. I run the dishwasher twice a week. I love the way the glass items come out of the dishwasher sparkling clean. I've been doing this for over 50 years! I admit I'm a little OCD. Lol😂

The only issue I have between dishwasher and hand washing is the water consumption. I watch you wash all those dishes with the tap(faucet) just running to no where, if you do that 3× a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year that is a lot of wasted water IMO A way around that is to set up a grey water system, so that the recycled water can be used for your plants and garden. It's not expensive to do this.😊❤

I'm joining the hand washing band. I had a dishwasher in my last home, and it would sit for days waiting to be run because I would wash pots, pans, utensils, large mixing bowls, etc. So essentially plates, flatware, and glasses were all I put through the didhwasher. When we remodeled the kit hen in our current home, I chose to forgo a dishwasher for storage. I really don't mind washing dishes, right away as you do.

I am there with you regarding dishes! I have had a dishwasher in every house we have lived in except our home now. Unless one has an unlimited amount of dishwater, glassware and silverware, I don’t have time to wait 2-4 hours for a dishwasher to run. I wash my dishes as I go and after each meal. When my children were home and I worked outside the home, a dishwasher was very convenient, filled from breakfast to after dinner and emptied when I woke up as I always woke up about 2 hours before my kids for my quiet time, exercise and getting ready for work. But I have found hand washing my dishes to be a quiet time and meditative time for me.

After watching this video Laura, I totally changed the way I wash dishes. I have always washed them by hand. I would run a sink full of soapy water, silverware and utensils in the bottom, plates, bowles and whatever on top. Pots and pans left till the VERY last. It took forever it seemed and I would get distracted and the silverware would be there till the water was cold, YUCK ! I make my dish soap spray in a refilled Dawn Powerwash bottle. Spray, wash, rinse and drain. No sink full of water. I tested it and I use less water. Done in a flash, sooo much better! Thanks for this wonderful tip.

I'm glad u wash ur dishes by hand becuz nasty fact dishwasher actually don't really wash ur dishes 😅. A dishwasher is basically a sanitary steamer and no matter what soap or pods u use for ur dishwasher it's not actually washing it its steaming it. So to everyone who doesn't wash their dishes by hands u mite want to try actually washing them. I actually don't have enough dishes in my house to really have a use for the dishwasher and it's just an extra expense for something I can just do by hand and not have to have a bunch of dishes that never get used!! 😊

I hand wash all of our dishes too (2 adults + 2 dogs (homemade meals of real food (batch cooked) fed twice daily). It's faster, less dishes build up, my cooking utensils are ready for the next time, I put away clean dishes much faster and hand-washing leaves my dishes CLEAN unlike the dishwasher residue or cooked on food from the heat of the dishwasher which then you have to soak to get off. I haven't used my dishwasher in many many years. I bought it new about 10yrs ago and only used it full time for the first 1-1.5years of ownership.. then dwindled to rarely then never for at least the last 5 years.

As a mom with 12 kiddos ( 12 dishwashers! 😉) , I couldn't agree with you more! I've had dishwashers in 6 of the 7 homes we've lived in but only used them in the 1st few. I figured out pretty quickly that in order to cook from scratch, I needed things clean and available to me. Not waiting in the dishwasher to be washed, or on a long drying cycle. Let alone a long cooling down time in order to be able to touch them! We built our current home and when the electrician did a walk through with me to find out where I wanted everything placed, he had to ask me twice to make sure he heard me correctly when I told him there would not be a dishwasher or microwave! 🙂 He was shocked!

I agree with you hand washing dishes drying and putting them away. I do the same with laundry wash dry and put away. Other ladies in my fam complain having to empty the dish washer or put their dishes in or they forgot to turn it on because they got distracted. With laundry they complain because they have a huge pile of clothes. Different strokes for different folks I guess. ❤

I have only had a dishwasher once when I was first married and used it once or twice! I prefer to do dishes by hand too!! 😁

Like to use the dishwasher at holidays not for pots but for all the extra dishes!

Thing is, you don't need to draw a full sink if you clean as you go. I use a scrubbie with dish soap and the least amount of water possible to clean as I go. The dishwasher just makes me angry because nothing gets clean in there and I see no point in rinsing dishes to put in the dish washer when I could just wash them immediately and not be angry later? I don't know, maybe it's just me? That machine takes and hour to run on top of not getting things clean.P.S. We are not off grid at this home, we pay a city water bill.

Totally agree! I do use the dishwasher occasionally, if we're going somewhere and there's still a stack of dishes on the counter, etc. But most of the time we do them by hand. Furthermore ... My children would have even less things to do! 😂

I agree about the dishwasher. When I bought my new house I had the dishwasher taken out. Enjoy your channel.

I agree with a large family you would need a huge number of plates etc if you used a dishwasher. There are only 2 of us and with a large number of plates cups etc so the dishwasher works for us.

What a joyful video! I agree with you on handwashing dishes .... much quicker! Do you make your aprons? I love them ... often find myself admiring them while wondering if I can whip one up without a pattern. 😊 My Gram always had one on when at home, too. She sewed them from flour sacks. They were humbly made but served her well. How you bustle about reminds me of her. ❤
