My new obsession is getting up to speed with Notion, so I have multiple creators popping up on my KZfaq. Of the many, I’m pretty sure you’re my fave, Carter! I was telling my husband just tonight how much I enjoy your content. And I LOVE how you say “button”. Such a cool accent (I’m Aussie, for context). Thank you for all of your amazing help! 😊

This is such a well-thought-out system. I took some time out to make the system in its entirety from the walkthrough. I totally enjoyed building it. Soooooooooo much fun. Really appreciate the value that you provide to the Notion community. I really think that $150 is worth it for people who can't make it themselves since you have simplified so many aspects of project and life management. I have tried so many tools but none of them give the seamless feel that this does. Great job!!!

I love how streamlined this system is. Building the template is one thing, but just being able to think this way is really impressive. The sub-area idea is an awesome change. Since you didn't touch on it in the video, I'm curious how "category" and "notebook" function within that database. What's the difference between the two and how do you typically use them? Thanks for showing us your incredible work!
@ProductiveDude
@ProductiveDude Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much Paul! I put lots of thought into this thing. :) Category is like a tag, notebook is kind of a “per subject” property for students who want to categorize their classes. Edit: my main thing is goals, I barely use the other ones because I think everything in my life is connected to a motivation and I like to identify my motivations rather than just create arbitrary topics. I would have just stuck with goals but many users requested “projects” some requested “notebooks” so I just made it a versatile sub Area. :)

I literally spent like 10-15 hours and recreated your whole Second Brain 2.0 (down to the icons, divs, callouts, etc) by watching your vids...and then u went an leveled up 🙃. Jk anyway thanks a lot for putting these tutorials out there, it really helped me get organized and the system is a game changer. I've even been able to exercise, walk 12k steps, and drink 100 oz of water a day like 80-90% of days thanks to this system. I tinkered with a Project function where you can add notes/actions/bookmarks on the fly to a project but I think your Topic section achieved essentially the same thing. Haven't watched the 3.0 video much yet but I'm interested to see how you simplified it. Random question for you, have you looked into Obsidian at all?
@ProductiveDude

Your new 2nd brain looks amazing! Thanks for sharing what you've created. I'm not ready to take the plunge into the paid version (needed for some functionality) but am starting small. However, I am wondering, since you simplified down to one add action button & one resource button, does that mean that all your businesses & personal tasks are in one task database? They would have to be for everything to show on your daily to-do list & calendar views, right? I guess I'm a little unclear how the areas & subareas work.

I've been pondering a question and can't quite wrap my head around it: Why did you decide to consolidate your databases in that manner? I recall you had multiple databases, which are now merged into these four here. I've built my own 'second brain,' but for me, there are specific considerations since I primarily need to manage knowledge and academic papers as a researcher. (I have mostly rebuild your second brain which is astonishingly amazing!) What are the advantages of using a single database instead of several specialized ones?

Nice video. I have a few questions.... I need to organise hundreds of post ideas for LinkedIn. I need to tag by topic and style. Will this system keep them more organised than just dumping them into a Google Doc? Can you have social media planning calendar and a task calendar? (perhaps this is just handled by filters). What happens if you do a major update on the template... will I need to export everything and re import it again?

I'm currently using the PARA organization method. Am I correct in that Sub Areas are similar to Projects? To give an example, I have an Area called Product Management (what I do), but I have multiple Clients, each with their own Projects and Goals. What would be the best way to set this up in your template? Really love the design and functionality!
@ProductiveDude
@ProductiveDude Жыл бұрын
Here’s a few ways you can do it: Area (Client Name) > Sub Areas (Goals and Projects for said client) > actions (tasks) Area (your company) > Sub Areas (Projects or Goals for each client) > actions (tasks) I prefer the second option. This way I can create an area for my marketing agency and each client project gets its own sub area. Some clients will have multiple projects, some are just one project. I can also create an area for my KZfaq channel and have a sub area called “sponsors”, then I can have individual tasks under that for each sponsor. There are many ways to configure it.

Hi Carter, can 2.0 be upgraded to the 3.0 version or are they each a stand-alone version, meaning if I want to use the 3.0 version, do I need to put all the data from the 2.0 into the 3.0? What is the main reason why I should switch to the 3.0 version if I already use the 2.0 version of your 2nd Brain?
@ProductiveDude
@ProductiveDude Жыл бұрын
Yes you’d need to manually move the data. I have a tutorial in the community/course. You should have received an invite to the Skool community via email if you’re already a customer. 3.0 has beautiful quick capture buttons and an overall simplified hierarchy. It also connected tasks and notes under one hierarchy umbrella called sub areas instead of separating our goals and topics into two different databases. Goals still work but if you want a sub area to be something else you can. Cleaner overall user interface.

People or companies if you want to organize it that way. It’s optional though. You can delete any sub area types you want and keep the ones that are relevant to you. This is more for a sales person who has lots of people to track. You can also make an Area a company and have a Sub Area with all the entities in it.

Check out Marie Poulin, August Bradley, Easlo, my pricing is in line or better. Especially considering 3.0 comes with a course and self-study content. Lots of high level people in there making multiple millions or running cool companies. It's more than a template. You also have to consider the lifetime aspect. This isn't a subscription deal, it's lifetime access to an ever developing framework and philosophy for productivity. Cheers to your success, sorry we couldn't work together.
