Sir, when key 2 is open, we will not input any resistance in the resistance box therefore L1 is constant,but as soon as we close k2, we have to input differenr resustances and find values of L2,so L1 needs not to be changed. Am i right sir? I have Skill test so just comfirimg pls reply asap.

Ideally we should adjust it to get larger value of L1. That can give you more accuracy.

To avoid the making of new primary cell each time and its complications, we use dry cell that is available in the market. We solder the wires at its terminals.

Yes. L1 is the first reading when the cell is not shunted by any resistance. It remains constant.

You can change the potential gradient along the wire using rheostat. By this you can increase the balancing length for emf to be greater and thus the accuracy of the readings will be more.

We take a 5V source as a battery source as the potentials we have to balance are of the order of 1.5 to 2 V. For balancing the cell, we need to have more PD between points A and B than the one to be balanced.
