What he fails to understand is even with capital, we still have to go through them folks to buy land, real estate etc. and as I realized 20 years ago, they don’t have to sell you that stuff for fear that you will prosper. @Elaina944 I disagree with your statement. We can unify now in spite of the trauma we have endured as a people. We do not need to wait for healing as healing will take place as we continue to make positive contributions and progress toward the goal of increased economic upward mobility. Successful attainment of increased economic activity as a collective will help to heal and eliminate traumas we have faced in the past and also trauma we may face in the future.

This is true but I've ran my own company found all of my own customers without a loan and my business failed ultimately due to my negligence I had almost 180 clients for 4 years straight and I'm black as well I tried having other brothers help me but they laughed at me and said they'd rather hit a lick or sell drugs instead of doing honest work for the money . So us coming together is a mindset problem as well I know from experience

To build on what Professor Smalls said about being "over organized" and all the sororities doing their own thing instead of working together; One of the sororities just opened up a bank and it's going to only be available to women in their sorority and their families. It should at least be available to all the black fraternities and sororities if they truly want to make a difference. And to add to what he said about all the different churches and religions that we participate in, the most divided time in the world is 10AM to 12PM every Sunday. Yet everyone who participates in religion claims to be brothers and sisters in christ, Islam, etc.

The mindset of our people needs an paradigm shift. We must adjust our priorities and view ourselves as a collective striving for commonly held societal goals one of which is to secure our own financial outlets (banks, credit unions, etc…). Owning our own financial institutions will provide access to capital to fund enterprises which in turn create jobs and serve as the basis of a thriving economy.

This is one of the main goals of racism & whyte fear. This country was built on racism and extracting wealth & resources from ppl of color. That is how whyte America built its wealth. After Reconstruction, they marginalized those that had the skillset to start businesses and by 1900 they developed the system of sharecropping. Sharecropping prevented black ppl from creating an economic floor. In the areas where blacks were building economic bases, they swooped in and destroyed them in the early 1900’s. What they didn’t destroy then they used urban renewal in the 1960’s to destroy many of the remaining businesses.
