I watched an interview with the cast and they said that they were in awe when Bob Newhart was on the show - his knack for the art of "comedic timing" is world class - they would just marvel at the way that he delivered every line.

Bill Nye is a mechanical engineer by training, and while that includes some science courses and a ton of specialized engineering courses (mostly derived from physics), he's no more of a scientist than Howard.

Benjamin Brooks there are great mechanical engineers that have provided great scientific research. Your degrading the term engineer by saying only. Mechanical Engineers are the reason we have transportation, satellites, television, they work on hospital equipment etc. Engineers are very important. Even though engineers aren't scientists they must have a very scientific mind.

That's not exactly correct. Bill Nye has a degree in mechanical engineering, and invented a hydraulic resonance suppressor tube while working for Boeing.

Funny thing is Bill Nye isn't a scientist. He's an engineer. Nye began his career as a mechanical engineer for Boeing Corporation in Seattle, where he invented a hydraulic resonance suppressor tube used on 747 airplanes. In 1986, Nye left Boeing to pursue comedy, writing and performing jokes and bits for the local sketch television show Almost Live!
