I love to tinker and gotta say I've landed on the condor axe flights. The guiding grove in the stem is almost like cheating to be honest. You can just lob your dart and if it goes anywhere near the last one they're grouping

I think peter wright uses the condor axe neons if i'm not mistaking. the zero stress deforms when you groep close and peter's don't or atleast not as much, and they are crystal clear compaired to a slight milkyness in the zero stress

Wright ... definitely Condor Axe Neon. The ones Chizzy had in the video I think are Cuesoul AK5 or Cuesoul Rost. I use all of the above AND LStyle ... AND Cosmo so I have seen and used just about everything. 2 I didn't care for were the Harrows Clic (not durable ... and the Winmau Stealth (too heavy). Condor, LStyle and Cosmo are all winners for me.

still working with the old school gear. regular stems and standard flights. i do use mission titanium f-lock rings and a flight protector. stems are about 6 month old, and flights about a week maybe a bit longer. but those rings never brake so they are about a year and a half old and endured a bunch or robin hoods still perfect. After swapping to the red dragon raptor gt points i haven't thrown a robin hood and my flights hardly ever get damaged. so i don't think i'll change anytime soon. i spend around 10$ a year on gear and i play almost on a daily basis, so unless a set or condors would last a year or more i don't see it being worth it. plus i would be stuck on 1 look for a very long time. and i do love to mix and match regularly unless i invest in a few setups.

I also like molded flights: Cosmo, Cuesoul Rost, Condor, L-Style. But another (minor) downside you didn't mention is that carrying spares is kind of a pain because they don't fold flat. You also can't carry your setup in a flat "dart wallet".

I have changed to the firm Axe flights, and they are very durable. One of my sets has the same stem/flight combo for over two years, and they are looking good. The thinner/softer variant tends to twist into a semi propeller shape, but even they are durable. Not going back.

Great review as always, I have used Robson molded flight. Then went to Bull's molded flight. And now I use L- style flights EZ ones. Great molded flight and durable. A built in shaft cone protector .No more robin hood in my book. Where the end of the stem where you put the flight on gets covered. Great idea 💡 💡! The only thing you forgot to say or mention WWD ! Yes Cosmo stems are 25.00 u s dollars to over 35.00 us dollar's. Very expensive compared to a EZ flight from L-style. And stems for .50 cents cant beat that. So in my opinion as far as mold flight goes would be L-style EZ flights! But great job with video and your opinion on Cosmo's flights . All the best!

Great topic and video once again! I am a huge fan of the molded flights even though they are considerably more expensive. Couldn’t agree more about the lip on the front of the dart where the point meets the barrel. I prefer specialty points however I also use Trident 180 nose cones on other sets I have without specialty points. I’m still on the fence with the condor flight and shaft setup because they are one piece and the most expensive. I do have a few sets of condors I am trying. It will pain me a bit more to throw them away eventually simply due to the cost. Another thing about the condors, I haven’t had any shafts snap off at the threaded part at the back end of the barrel yet and I hope I never do. That would also force you to throw away that shaft/flight combo. This is typically I always buy a minimum of 2 sets of anything so I can replace only 1 instead of the entire set.

I really like this video. I started using molded flights about 10 moths ago. I started with the Robson flight on l-style carbon shafts, moved to th 8 system, and now, after many mny hours in the dart stor and experimentation have settled on the duralumin fit shafts and fit flights. The setup I run is different for my soft tips to my steel tips. I use the #2 shaft and slim flights on my soft and the #5 shift and standard flights on my steel tips. But I still run the durability fit system on both. I love it and definitely recommend giving it a try.

Ya I switched to Condor Axe's just over a month ago and don't think I'll ever go back. One thing you forgot to mention which I can attest to with the Axe's is your deflections are greatly reduced, and I find far more favorable. Ya you get the squirrely one here and there. They are pricey but well worth it. I can't even imagine how many flights and stems I would have destroyed since I switched.

I have a Cosmo setup on my Red Dragon Golden Virgins. Seems to be the only thing that really works with my throw. Price is a real barrier to entry when you have to experiment, as I’ve had to do with L Style. I feel like there’s serious drag and I need to put so much more effort to get it to the board. As a result if I don’t use them for a while, they land extreme tail up and always a bit low with my normal action.

The reason why molded flights/flight-stem combos are so expensive is because you need an injection mold that is fairly complex to make them. Such a mold easily costs 15k-30k. Just to make your initial mold investment back, you have to sell thousands of parts (consider that you have other costs involved as well in producing the flights... and the retailer also wants his cut). If you could sell a couple million parts, those initial mold costs would be negligible, however, if you only sell 10-20k parts, they become a major cost burden. Hope that all makes sense.

I bought some L-Style and Condor flights to try out. Haven't got round to it yet, but will give them a go very soon. I've been using an L-Style type system with folded flights for quite a while now, so expecting to enjoy using the full blown thing. One negative you didn't say, which I am expecting, is the tendency for increased deflections. The flights look a little thicker and are more rigid, and with my fairly light darts I am anticipating quite a few more on the floor.

Another awesome video full of great information! I used a number 4 cosmo carbon normal shaft with the fit flight pro s4 since those came out. I loved not having to pick up flights from the floor. One thing that kind of bothered me though was I would get a set of those shafts and some of them would come slightly bent. I would roll them on the table and see a wobble. I had back up sets, so I was able to get a full set of them that were completely straight. For the price my expectations are pretty high. I found that to be a bit of a con. For some too, when you go to a molded flight, you need to make sure you have a case that will give enough clearance for the flight. I had a target takoma case that would mishape my flights. I had to go to an L-style crystal case to make sure I wouldn't have issues. Additionally, you kind of need to get one of those extra molded flight cases to bring spares. Some people might find it inconvenient. I do miss the days of having a case I could fit in my pocket. Currently I am using the 260 Lstyle carbon silent shaft and the dimplex Lstyle molded flights. I know, they spin don't judge me haha! I really like those as I never have to pick up a flight, the little cap that sits in the molded flight stops robin hoods as well, and they are always straight. For a spinner flight, they don't feel wobbly when you're throwing. The other nice thing is if you were in a pinch you could quickly stick a regular folded flight in that shaft.

@@JRodG72 I think it's a culture thing to be honest. If everyone around you is using them and swearing by them then it's only natural to gravitate towards them. Meanwhile they're non existent in the PDC or over the past 40 years of professional darts. The way I look at is, if the best players in the world don't need them, and they group their darts incredibly tight all the time, then why on earth would anyone else need them? As a youtuber I just sit on the sidelines and find it fascinating looking at the different darting cultures around the world. But no doubt about it spinners are hugely popular in the USA.
@JRodG72

@@WorldwideDarts Absolutely! It’s just like retractable point darts when I first started playing. Everyone on league either had power points or hammer head darts and they were super expensive even back then. They are totally unnecessary but even to this day there are guys on league that swear by them. Back then too you were limited by local shop’s stock. Now we have nothing local and everything is ordered online. You see a big mix of different styles of darts with different setup options way more now than even ten years ago around here. It’s a bit like that with knurl too. Everyone was throwing knurled darts locally forever here and you rarely saw knurled darts on the tour. I think one of the only people that I can think of off the top of my head that I know use knurl is Robert Thornton. Did you see the new Target Dimitri darts? Looks like knurl on the front of the barrel. I was surprised to see that.

@@JRodG72 Spot on! I've mentioned it in several videos how there's a certain American darting culture when it comes to darts. If you're browsing internet dart forums and you see a picture of knurled darts with aluminum stems and Pentathlon flights or Amazon flights you can almost 100% guarantee that they're American. I see pics of darts all the time over on Reddit Darts and any time someone posts pics of their darts it's easy to spot the American player. The stereotypes are definitely true here.

The Condor Axe flights Used by Peter Wright and Jose De Sousa seem expensive at first but they are almost indestructible so are actually fantastic value for money. The condor Axe have a channel cut into the stem and if you can group your darts tightly the grooves and Flights catch incoming darts and guide them (hopefully into the treble). I always split the L Style and the Cosmos pretty quickly. Chizzys flights are a Mystery as Condor do not seem to sell the Solid yellow in either the Axe or the more Bendy Zero Stress, also there doesnt seem to be any grooves cut into the stems.

Interesting video! Strange how we seem to be going back to all-in-one flights: I've been playing on & off for almost 50 years & my first darts had moulded flights. The trend was then to nylon stems & poly flights, an "advantage" that the flight came out to allow closer grouping, now seen as a disadvantage. I'm actually throwing my original brass darts, with the old plastic one-piece flights, again & don't have problems grouping. But why are the new one-piece flights so expensive? You can still get old 1/4" ones for 59p (uk) & Darts Corner do a set of Designa durable ones for 90p albeit they're a retro shape why can't they make a modern version as cheap?

Good point! If you read another comment someone was talking about how expensive it is to make injection molded stuff. But have a look at all the bar dart one piece design. Those are about as cheap as it gets. Surely the new stuff isn't that expensive to make.

molded is the way to go. they last 50 times longer than regular flights. do the math. it’s with 8$ for a set of flights that last a year if not more. if you use shaped tips that protect your flights from thrown darts, you could have some L flights last near eternity. i’ve played the same L’s for 2 years before. throwing nearly every day. just stay away from the carbon and stainless shafts that cost 50$. they do nothing a plastic shafts can’t do.

I use the Condor all in one. They have 2 versions: Zero Stress and Axe. I believe the Pro's use the AXE. The Zero Stress are softer and have very flexible stems/wings. The AXE are much harder and not so flexible. The Zero Stress kinda look like the cheap bar darts plastic flights.

@@WorldwideDarts Wow your quick on the responses ... I bought the FLEX also because they were less expensive and I wanted to try the all in ones. They take a beating. I've stuck points thru the flights and into the stems. Still going strong after 2 monts of use - Xcept for the rage removal from the board - I stripped the threads from one of the stems on the FLEX. More control needed ... I also have a set of L-Style EZ flights. I like these as well but not as durable as the FLEX. I have a couple of splits on the bottom of the flights and the tops are alll chewed up. Still usable but durability is in question. My problem was breaking the prongs off the stems rendering them useless. I went thru 10 sets of nylon stems in a couple of months.

@@WorldwideDarts I have played with many flights and shafts like everyone else. I tried aluminum, nylon, and spinners but their wobble bothers me and I did not think they gave me any real edge. So now I have tried Cuesoul Rost flight AK5, Condor Axe, and Condor Neon Axe. I did not care for how the standard shape flew (I throw with less speed so these dipped at the tail) so I switched to "small'" which is sometimes refered to as "shape" or "big wing" I think. Those are awesome. Both brands Cuesoul and Condor perform well. I might even like the flight characteristics of the Cuesoul flights a bit better, but the Condor Neon Axe in yellow light up like crosshairs in a rifle scope. (The cool factor is off the charts!) The condor quality is worth the extra money in my opinion. They are perfectly molded and tough. I tried the Condor Zero Stress flexible flights and they don't seem to hold up as well to steel point play. They also can bend a bit and I worry that this could affect the flight path. I felt like I was throwing a banana peel. Any complaints I had about the Condor Axe or Condor Neon flights worked out as I got used to throwing them. They are rigid nonfolding so your dart case better accomodate a fully set up dart. Bottom line: Condor Neon Axe flights in yellow and small style are my new favorite and worth the money especially in the long run.
