June 1, 2023 this family showed up to town "Out Of Gas", days after spending time is Escanaba and Marinette. They had temp Colorado tags over a real Colorado plate on their minivan, but today they have Texas tags! They are switching license plates.. Isn't THAT illegal? Yesterday I didn't keep up on them, but they did "work" 8 hours on this shift next to Walmart and Tractor Supply.. I decided that IF they came back today, I'd make a sign and go stand near them. What happens next was crazy!

I mean they're not lying... They do need help with rent and food. LOL Id rather bust my butt for 40+ hours a week, than willingly sit on a corner with my family and panhandle. But that's the difference between me and them; I have self value.

Jason, you need to report them to the cops about the license plates, that is totally illegal, they can go to jail for that. They would be charged with identity Theft, Stolen license plates, and possible fraud. I would surely drop a dime on them to your local Police Department.

Jason, get a petition together and get people sign it and take it to the city and county council making it against the law to pan handle in your town and county without out a license to do so. But also so suggest thus as well. Suggest they collect taxes on what they make each day.

Next time you catch a panhandler, when they get in their car, you should like slightly follow them to see where they are going; either homeless or not and live in a house or smth

Thank you, cause I'm doing the same thing at the Walmart in federicktown, MO the last time there was a family and they had the hood up, sign reading broke down, need money for repairs! Ya right! There tag was from Colorado. I told them I was calling the polices and they left.

It's a 'chicken and the egg' problem.. you could argue folks in your area are generous, make good money, and are more than ready to help those 'in need'. Whereas in other parts of the country, very few people give to panhandlers because they don't make a lot of money to begin with. Panhandling is then a sign of a good economic environment. Folks can decide if they want to give their money to 'charity' (even if based on a lie) and you could always choose to look the other way. Human trafficking is more problematic than a phony sign (and backstory) for panhandling. In all likelihood, things are much worse than what you see on the surface. Probably best to call authorities and stay away.

The police in the U.S. aren't the best, (I'm in Canada). Perhaps best to call Social Services? Outreach program? (police response would be over the top, agreed)

Actually not illegal to have a vehicle registered in more than one state, but somehow I doubt all the plates you saw were legit. I hope you alerted troopers and described the plates and vehicle so they could follow up.

I wanted to do this to the man that stands on the corner in my city at walmart.. This guy has literally been here for like 3 years. And when other people try to stand on that corner, he threatens them and gets very mean to them.. This dude's got a house. He gets a check every month. Yet he's still for 3 years out in the corner begging people for money.. It's kind of aggravating.. Considering there are actual people out there that need help...

You need to let police know that they have and are using several sets of license plates. This will cost them some money and help push them down the road.

I like what you're doing with your sign. It raises awareness to the people who keep funding their scam. If people didn't fund them, it would stop. Help the people who are obviously in need and living on the street. I like to help the people you see busting their butt collecting recyclables. The guy carrying 4 huge bags of plastics and cans. They're trying. The gas can family scam sitting outside the gas station all week doesn't work. Lol. Stay safe.

The sign works! Can't be everywhere all the time though. Get the police involved! That's child neglect and abuse. Switching tags is illegal. I wish all people would see through this scam and not give a cent. If you want to help, give locally to legit food kitchens, charities, etc.

When you were talking to the uniformed person (law enforcement?) did you tell them about the plate switching and were they not interested? Should cause them to not ever come back.
