If a brother leaves your motorcycle club to join another does he stop being a brother? MC discussion

My organization recently lost a good prospect. He left because it wasn't a fit for him, and ironically he had decided he wanted to pursue more of an Motorcycle Club lifestyle. Let's talk about how that went down, what protocol would apply in the MC world, and how he still is and always will be my brother and friend.

I'm an old solo rider livin' wayyyy out here on the edge with the coyotes and big cats. That said...and in my opinion, when I throw a guy a wave & he throws one back...we show respect. If your friend is a better fit with another MC, and everyone is good with it, it makes the world one step closer to getting better. We need all the friends we can keep. Kudos

Fully agree. Have friends that are solo or LW, others on clubs, that I rode with for decades. A Brother or Sister is that, in my experience, regarless.of club. You can call a friend at 0300 for bail, and they will find a way. A Brother, you can't, because he's sitting in holding with you, asking what the plan for next weekend is. He is there if you wear the same patch or not.

For me it’s all about how he departed. If you depart one organization on bad terms, that speaks for itself. I have friends ( brothers) that ride with other organizations, other than the one I ride with. None of these are 1% clubs. All are organizations that serve a purpose! Just cuz the rags you have don’t match, don’t mean you can’t get along with others. Respect… Stay safe out there…

The fact he made a decision and voiced it at the moment he felt it was time to go shows his character, and its respectable 100%. I've had plenty of brothers shift to another club and yes they are still in my family, and we're still close as hell. Cool video man.

Mr. Monk, you're a class act. Unless someone does something completely stupid or that bringing embarrassment or discredit to the organization, he should not be disowned for leaving, and a class buddy would not abandon him. And to go the step further to make an introduction pitch for him is a class thing to do too. Good video, good job!

My organization doesn't have the same criteria as many other organizations (Veterans org.) but from being in this world as long as I have, one thing I have seen is a Hang around and a prospect is as much as a learning and interview process for the club as it is the individual, as you said, some things won't always be a good fit for everyone and that is cool, at least that guy was honest with you and himself, nothing wrong about saying, this is not for me and moving on, have more respect for someone that is honest than someone that hates what they would be doing ....best of luck to your friend (I also know that this was posted two years ago)

I had a great friend who was apart of your organization that shall not be named lol. That’s when I actually first heard of it, and was damn proud of him for going that way. He was part of the organization out in Texas and he loved every minute of it, he died a couple years back of cancer but I thank him for all he did and I thank you for what y’all do. Always good to see things from the eyes of others, I'm on the MC side of things, but absolutely have tons of love for the local chapter of your organization, keep the good content coming, and we'll done on giving the info you can while following the rules you need to. Prospect period is for finding the right fit, we have received guys through the same sort of phone call, networking and trust is key for the entire community.

Outstanding video, Mr. Monk! It also hit home for me. Due to a “difference of opinion “ I left an organization that I had been with for 21 years. I am out in good standing; however, some of my former “brothers” will no longer even give me a nod when they see me and have been harassing Brothers that have kept in contact with me. If I have to have the same patch as you to be your brother, then we were never brothers in the first place. The way you handled the situation with your former prospect was first class all the way! And kudos to him for being upfront when he realized your organization wasn’t a good fit for him. I hope he does well in the new MC. Thanks for your videos and prayers for you and your family and Club.

Great video. Good insight as to the power of friendship and trust. I don’t belong to any club in fact I just got back on a bike after twenty years plus I’m an old guy (66) seeing if I can ride after back surgeries. Happily I can. I think there is a chapter of “the organization that shall not be named “ up here in Boise. I’ll need to look into them. I love your channel and the way you bring knowledge about working on bikes. Totally agree with you. When I left the military the big machine goes on. I got it. But it’s weird people rotate in and out and there’s a few that remember you. So all in all I remember the olde folks and still considered them brothers. Your organization sounds great. And your chapter sounds like good people. That’s a good mission. Cheers 🍻

Friends and brothers are real. Organizations start and are established for people with like minds to come together, for a common goal. Being a friend and brother is a plus. Staying friends are important. Unless you do something horrible leaving friends behind is not something I would do. Glad you were able to remain amicable. Drop that hand to all bikers, were all enjoying the riding life. Well done on the recommendation. What we should do for great people.

This is a great example of how in the club or organization world as a prospect, we are judging you, just as you are judging us, in a vacuum. Glad you mentioned the drama lol and once the nostalgia of the cut wears off the life is still there and very real but you keep showing up and shaking hands. Then one day you're with a couple brothers going to the "Gloves", you see a couple dominant %1er big wigs, as a prospect you always lead with the hand shake and then for the fist time, he put's his arm around you, your whole world changes. Great video Monkey

Hey man. I just watched your linked video of the organization that shall not be named. I was in tears. I knew roughly who you were associated with and was excited as I had thought the one in my town was the same. It is not, but the mission is most likely very similar. As a Victim services volunteer here in Alberta, Canada, I see too many 'abuses against kids' cases. It is truly gross. When I lost my wife in 2020, a lot changed, but mostly it was me. I was blown away at how professional this organization is, and the thought of being able to merge my passion for riding with my passion for serving my community and these kids is mindblowing. We'll see how it goes, but I'm hopeful. Thanks for all you and your brothers do, and for all the people that and organizations that stand up for kids. Much respect, man. Much respect.

WOW there is so much stuff to the organization or MC’s. I am not part of any of it. I have a cut, but don’t wear it to not get in trouble. I have it to put patches on from the destinations I rode to. When I get asked who I am riding with I respond with: I am riding alone cause I haven’t found anyone to ride with I’d enjoy to ride with. I even do 4K mile trips alone. Kind of like a lone Wolf but am not showing it with a patch or sticker. Learned that stuff with the colors and clubs from you and the guys and gals at AM leather near Detroit. Thanks for educating us and sharing your knowledge to the outsiders.

3,200 views and only 800plus likes??? Good day Mr. Monkey, During the last years I was in the Army I got my degree in Adolescent Psychology. As a single Dad I couldn't take the job at the local elementary school working with children from dysfunctional families. My children did not need me in prison for educating an abusive parent that refused to let a child use healthy tools I outfitted them with. I love your organization! All across America I take the word of BACA members as gospel. The 1% club I grew up around and prospected with would take your recommendation and fast track an individual. I pray your friend finds a home. You Sir and Mrs. Monkey and so many others answer a calling I lack control to do. Even before my military training I used violence first, second and last so I do not fit facing "adults" that abuse children. Whether in an MO, MC or riding club friendships are made and grow. Only an individual that is outed bad can cause heartache when that friendship has to end because of organization loyalty. I appreciate your sharing your disappointment and high hopes for your friend. Personal responsibility today seems to be non existent. Keep up the good works for your children. You all are in my prayers Hoka Hey

Thank You PM!. I started riding some 48 yrs ago. I rode for a bunch of yrs. I sold my wheels when the kids came along. Well - The wife turned into an X - And I bought a bike and rode again for a bunch of yrs. I have always worn black on black with black. I always pulled my ego back. You know - over all those yrs, the MO and MC/ 1% were a great bunch to stop and chat with. The number of riders, the gents and ladies we met. Heck - we were in snow - -14 weather - we - [GF and I ] had 2 beds at a motel. Told a 1%er to come stay with us for the weekend. He did - and he had tears - when he told me, that no one - not even his brother - would invite him to stay with his family. We have been brothers ever since. It is the relationships that count. Cheers - have whatever beverage floats your boat! It has been an honor to meet all of you.

I know this vid is a few months old, but its new to me. Ive watched a bunch of your stuff before and always like the content, but I have to admit this one hit me pretty hard. I have been riding close to my entire life, Ive known and met a lot of people, some of which come from clubs. But I personally have never felt the need to join one. I just ride, and felt that being in a club would cut down on my saddle time. A few months back, I met a few guys from a club near me, and for the first time, I felt that it might be a place Id like to belong. However, I am moving across the country in a week, knew it then, and I just wasnt able to commit. I really wish I could, and I believe I will be missing out on something. Listening to how committed to your group you are, and how you are trying to find that for a friend, makes me both happy for you and your bud, and a bit jealous that I dont have that for myself.

I totally agree with you. It sucks that not everybody does. I was part of an M/M and left them due to a difference of opinion. I tried continuing to be a brother to everyone that was there, but unfortunately they didn't see it the same way. I know that not everyone who rides considers me as their brother, but I view them as my brother or sister. I only call them that if they feel the same way. I love watching your videos on here. I don't own a Harley Davidson, and probably never will, but I love watching the upgrades you do to your bikes. Like the prospect that this video was done about, I agree with what your organization stands for. I've considered joining the organization, or one with the same beliefs, but it's just not my fit. Keep doing what you're doing and stay safe.

100% Agree I’m part of a VRC for 18 years and have had several members leave to join a MC because they wanted that life. They are brothers yes, we still hang together they attend our runs as we support theirs. Another Great video.
