British-Israeli historian Avi Shlaim attended the UK premiere of the film 'Tantura', hosted by the International Centre of Justice for Palestinians (ICJP) in May, where he shared his thoughts on the film and reiterated that the Tantura massacre was just one of multiple massacres committed by Israeli forces during the Nakba.

They didn’t really. When they found out that they were being railroaded they wanted the Europeans out of there. They were never happy with the arrangement that was forced onto them even before 1948. They were willing to live along side these people for a time until they saw their true colors.

Follow Miko Peled, the Israeli pro Palestine activist and author of “the general’s son, the Journey of an Israeli in Palestine”, who is another peace loving Israeli. I came here after Prof. Avi Shlaim's 'Debate About 1948'. In his article, he identified himself as a 'new historian' a term for historians who are critical of the Zionist perception of Israeli history. He examined various sources to dissect the topics surrounding UK's hostility towards the infant-state Isreal (which he refuted), the refugee problem and the Arabs intransigence to peace (he found that, in various sources, it's suggested that there were three Arab nations (including Jordan) who were ready to make peace straight after Isreal was established. They all required land concessions and wanted to discuss refugee problems. However, in the end, the Israeli PM decided the terms suggested were not worthy of the pursuit of peace. Thus, the reason why the Arab countries and Israel were stuck in a deadlock state was largely due to Intransigence on Israel's part).

@@comedyshortsincPalestine was at a civil war with Palestinian Arabs and Jews because the British Mandate collapsed and the Brits couldn't control the region anymore so the Arabs and Jews used settlers with paramilitaries to occupy territories of the British Mandate. Once UN's partition plan was executed the Palestinian jews declared their independency and established Israel in their occupied ex-British Mandate territory.

I think this guy embodies why his side keep failing. He is trying to prove a point that even if he succeeds changes nothing. This professor described Israel's actions as offensive although they portray themselves to the world as acting defensively. ETHNIC CLEANSING is a military & psychological campaign to rid a territory of it's cultural inhabitats that are different from them. Because of the location & shared history of the land, (after the Roman conquest of Judea in 67-68 CE, Rome gave Jerusalem to the Palestinians), talk of 2 separate states is ludicrous. The Israelis sealed their fate by invading Palestine. They are a part of an Israeli-Palestinian state & Israeli-Palestinian shared culture & identity. The problem being both sides are fighting the obvious. The solution for this is not more division that the Israelis keep initiating but to mingle more & intermarry. The problem is that a large portion of Jews identify with past Jewish religious traditions, past meaning 2,000-3,000-years ago. The insanity is that the world has changed. It's called progress. But certain Jews are fearful that their cultural identity will be wiped out. They have real cause to feel this way because of WWII. As long as the Jews continue to live in the past, there will be no peace for they will continually feel that the Palestinians & other Arab nations will eradicate them. So in order to alleviate this feeling, the Israelis become the aggressors & the death continues. ALL NATIONS IN THE MIDDLE EAST MUST STOP LIVING IN THE PAST. THE SAUDI MEN SHOULD TAKE OFF THEIR ROBES & KAFFIYEHES. THE MUSLIM WOMEN SHOULD TAKE OFF THEIR BURQAS. INSTEAD OF FOCUSING ON NATIONAL DIFFERENCES FOCUS ON SIMILARITIES & COMMON NEEDS & FORM ALLIANCES. ONE VERY CRITICAL NEED IS EDUCATION & LITERACY. HOW MUCH STRONGER, PRODUCTIVE & SELF- SUFFICIENT WOULD THE MIDDLE EAST BE IF EVERYONE WAS LITERATE & EDUCATED. It's a scary thought for existing rulers of the region who want to keep their citizens just educated enough to be independent but not educated enough to challenge them.

The Palestinians were happy to share with the Jews. The problem was that the Zionist kept on killing and expanding their settlement - and literally until today commit ethinic cleansing ( aka murder) of Palestinians who have lived on the land even before the Jews relocated ( after WWII). The feeling of welcome changed to hate and rejection because Israel government kill and exile Palestine natives from their ancestral home. Not just muslims but christians too.

The land was a very busy one, but the original inhabitants were the Canaanites. Canaanites lived there before the Jews came. Palestinians are descended from the Canaanites and are a mix of other races as well. Wars happened in the region, Jews fled, sometimes were kicked out, etc. Now after 2000 years they want to steal the land. Mind you, they were welcome in Palestine, but Zionists have the belief that gentiles (non-Jews) are inferior to them, and so they don't want to live with Palestinians. This isn't a case of who came first, or who's religion came first (Canaanites weren't muslim). It's a case of human rights.

First time in all my 64 years of studying history and the Middle East but I’ve heard that. Most modern Palestinians that are of Arab dissent. Came from the late 1800s up to 1920 from morocco. they have no ancestry to the land. A particular Musti was afraid that the Zionist movement in Europe. was going to overtake the land. The land was only called Palestine because they miss pronounce Philistine when they renamed it after AD70. So what is the Balfour act. Or just Jewish people buying up land from the Arabs at the time who lived in the land. There’s so much history on this that everybody just wants to take sides.

Islam needed its voice heard which wasn't possible before the 20th century perhaps except on horse back. Now the means of tele-communication devices and internet is so advanced and wide spread that there is nothing to stop it from reaching everyone in all corners of the world with great ease. Sooner or later everyone has to surrender to Islam which is the true religion that makes sense.
