Public Enemy's Professor Griff set the record straight with VladTV on rumors that he kicked Flavor Flav in the chest during an argument. Griff explained that after looking for Flav and finding him smoking crack on a rooftop when they should've been taking care of business, he kicked a boombox that Flav was holding in front of him.
During the conversation, Griff also explained how Public Enemy hid Flavor Flav's crack problem when they were doing anti-drug songs like "Night of the Living Baseheads," which you can hear more about above.

I met Professor Griff at a whole foods in ATL yrs ago, I froze n couldn't speak for a second but I told him I followed his work and listened to his podcast n tried to put all my ppl on to him. He was very kind and humble and walked to his car and came back and gave me a copy of his book, it was one of those days I knew everything happens for a reason. Much respect King Griff 🙏

PE gave black people a sense of pride and sef-worth missing from America since the 60s. They raised many young men to become real men. Slavery was reality just 155 years ago. There were about 4.5 million blacks in America-Approx 4 million were slaves. One year later about 3 million were "freed" into almost the same place as the slaves -poverty, no education, no land, no jobs, family connections, etc. There are people alive today who knew people who were alive when slavery was normal. The beliefs that allow such a thing as slavery to exist were sometimes passed to their kids, who sometimes passed those beliefs to their kids, who may be too dumb to understand why that's wrong. Just 54 years ago Legal Segregation was the law in America... If you accept those as indications of your value - those two things alone - not to mention the names, signs, groups, movies, etc - make it almost impossible to feel respected, equal or any sense of fairness exists in the US. When people say "Get over it, race isn't an issue" They are ignorant and childish. They are probably the low IQ, non-evolved people mentioned. Ignore them for the fools they are... When someone says "Yes, that is truly too hard a thing thing to live with, so don't. Choose to explore today's possibilities to the best of your abilities and pursue your best life options based on your current freedoms", you may want to listen and live free from the pain and shame we don't have to carry, unless we choose to do so.

Same happened with the Furious 5 & their "White Lines" song. All of them were on the stuff. Most of the actors who did anti-drug spots in the '80s were on coke too. Pretty much everybody was on coke/crack back then at some point; it was just a party drug for most people.

I saw Professor Griff give a talk, and he kindly gave me two videos. This was back in 2006 or 2007 and he seemed a bit paranoid and out of it. But he seems much more lucid lately. If he was suffering, I hope he got help. He signed my "takes a nation.." cd and was very kind.

t.puffs for some of them. There's lots of rappers don't use any drugs at all. Gucci gets a lot of publicity for it but there are more artists that live sober too

Gabe Mo I got you. he's a hip hop dude talking about hip hop so it makes sense to say black. I was just trying to say if people stop distinguishing things as black and white it would help with race relations in general. we're all one people

Public Enemy could have been the group to unite everyone had they been from West Coast. They were way ahead of the game as far as a bloodless revolution, addressing true evils in society and breaking stereo types while presenting examples of strength. It is sad in 2019 everyone's more into Death Row, NWA and others who made billions off of talking about the gangster lifestyle. PE put a brutally honest mirror up to everyone and promised the strength to change it. Thank you for your efforts, I hope someday we really listen.

Wow, I would've never guessed that there was such a Brando-esque layer to Flav's method acting dedication for filming of a music video that he would go to such lengths as to actually smoke crack in order to make his performance in the crack-themed Night of the Living Baseheads video more convincing. What a dedicated professional!
