@@andcartoonworld9251 Snake was feeling hurt and betrayed at the assumption that Wolf was gonna cut him, Shark, Tarantula and Piranha loose since he was eavesdropping on Wolf and Marmalade. Granted Marmalade was manipulating them all and Wolf didn’t have the best thorough communication skills with his crew and told them about the Old Lady and get their consent about going good for real.

Tbf, with the Bad Guys track record, and the fact that Marmalade used their own plan to stitch them up, I can see why everyone but Diane thought they were responsible for stealing the meteorite. Diane did believe it for a moment, that moment being when Wolf was trying to attack Marmalade, just the pure shock his rage caused was enough to make her doubt… but Wolf then silently begs her with his eyes, right before she sees Marmalade talking to the reporter, and unlike everyone else, she starts using her brain. The final proof, is when she goes to the location Wolf showed her on the map, which is of course the Bad Guy’s hideout, and remembering Wolf’s words “I’m giving it all back.” It’s at this point, she believes him wholeheartedly.

The colors were also a neat detail for Marmalade’s character: When he wore his blue suit at the award ceremony, he was shown to be the good Samaritan 💙 but when he wore red at the Gala of Goodness, Marmalade revealed his true colors ❤️ and in his golden suit, it further showed that he was evil 💛

@@andcartoonworld9251 DreamWorks loves turning traditional storytelling on its head by making monsters like Shrek relatable and engaging. And they did it again with Ruby Gillman Teenage Kraken, which was a Shrek-ified role reversal of The Little Mermaid. The premise and concept is fairly solid,the voice acting, world building and jokes were on point, but the spoiler-heavy marketing, poor release date of choice, budget-writing constraints and other factors cost it dearly at the box office. But it still has a growing cult following, myself included.

When I first saw the movie, I was just shocked as The Bad Guys were when Marmalade was revealed to be the villain, but after rewatching the movie, it’s now incredibly obvious given how much foreshadowing there was: - The “old lady” calls Wolf “such a good boy.” - The “old lady” is British and has whiskers. - Marmalade is incredibly arrogant and loves fame and attention. - Marmalade proposes an experiment to Diane to help The Bad Guys redeem themselves when it’s actually just a fabrication for him to use them as pawns so he steal the meteorite for his own personal gain as well as sabotage Wolf’s bond with his friends. - Marmalade is short-tempered and gets annoyed whenever Piranha calls the meteorite a butt. - Marmalade is an expert at science. - Marmalade informs Wolf that he has to choose between his friends and the good life. - Marmalade tells The Bad Guys that the citizens will be looking at them the entire night and not him, thus giving him the opportunity to steal the meteorite without being spotted. IMO, this is one of the few times a twist villain in an animated movie was actually handled really well.

2:31-2:37 Holy cow! I absolutely love Wolf’s savage and aggressive voice and expressions! Sam Rockwell killed it! P.S. 2:34 Did anyone else notice Snake’s shocked and horrified expression? He may be grumpy and sarcastic, but he still has feelings and seeing his best friend act so vicious and threatening must have been a big shock for him. But then again, it is kind of ironic and hypocritical when you consider Snake attacked Wolf in prison. 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆

At first when I saw this, I did not see it coming! Looking at this again though... yeah, Professor Marmalade was disappointing as a twist villain. He was just giving out way too obvious clues that hints at his reveal. Had they made it more subtle, he would've turned out better.

Of course not, because the author/illustrator/creator of the original book series Aaron Blabey said that DreamWorks is the only animation studio that he would entrust the movie adaptation to, and as a bonus, they let him be an executive producer, so he for sure would have a say in the movie’s production.
