In the case of Johanne Defay, one of the most dynamic talents on the women's Championship Tour, when the going got tough, she wasn't the only one who rallied. Her tight-knit community of friends and loved ones stepped up too.
Defay was born in France, but grew up on Reunion Island, a small serene paradise hidden in the middle of the Indian Ocean. While it's an incredible place to grow up as a surfer, as Defay learned, it's not the easiest place to launch a surfing career.
Shaped by the struggle, Defay has become one of the most endearing personalities on Tour, and an incredible talent, too.
