This video presents the profile of Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, first prime minister of Independent Nigeria. He trained in Nigeria and in the United Kingdom and on his return to Nigeria, he participated actively in politics until he was killed in the January 1966 coup.

This history should be taught in all schools in Nigeria. To show that once upon a time, Nigeria had leaders who has integrity, honesty, good governance, respected all around the world. It’s so painful that a talented leader was killed in this manner , this was a great loss to a great country.

Sir ATB was a proficient and articulated speaker. A vast and well trained teacher who commanded the English language with envious aura. He once addressed the whites who stood up and clapped for so long... He was good. He lived a simple and transparent life and was a true example of a de- tribalized Nigerian. A fine gentleman who the queen found worthy of being a knight.
