Had the same problem on my 2010 Mazdaspeed 3 it end up being the fuel transducer wouldn't stop once in awhile to get a pop from the exhaust replaced it was perfectly fine after that

You was able to reprogram the pats and vin to the new pcm? I thought you couldn't do it with forscan, I thought you needed that $1200 reader and that ids software. Can you please explain. I want to buy a used pcm to replace in my fusion.

I'm having the same issue after an engine replacement. gonna check spark and compression this weekend but had a question. The camshaft lock plate i got from edgeautosports only fit one way with how the cutouts are on the cams. I assumed I didn't have to bother to check that it was tdc at no1. was that a mistake? I know I should've double checked but I was in a hurry when doing the timing.

Good afternoon, I recently installed cruise control on my 2021 Isuzu D-Max 1.9L standard model and I need a device that can program or activate it. I've tried using an OBD2 ELM327 WiFi and ELM327 HS LS USB for scanning, but they can't seem to recognize my Isuzu D-Max. Now I'm considering purchasing a dedicated device or using the TOAD program or should I buy IDSS . Could you please recommend the best option? Looking forward to your reply. Keep at it man! exciting to hear compression during the last few cranks.. my thought is even if you were cranking with no fuel or spark the motor should sound like its compressing air right? other than the last few cranks it didnt sound like it should, sounded like the cylinders weren't compressing like when we do a compression test. I know everyone has an opinion.. mine is i still would be looking at the cams and timing.

The reason as we know right now for loss of compression is from fuel washing out the cylinders. Timing is 100% on verified 4 different times with all timing tools in place with cylinder 1 at TDC . Crank bolt , crank pulley pin and cam plate

I think winter gas and winter starts cause a lot of the gas in the catch can. I usually get gas in my occ in the winter.

@Spooling Up Performance I ran into an issue similar with your crank position sensor. I had actually bolted mine on backwards which put it off by a whole tooth. It should be the 21st tooth not the 20th so you may check that it is not needing flipped around! Like you said it makes a world of difference as each tooth is like 12 degrees of timing or something crazy like that. Let me know if it’s correct or not and hate that your having a bad time with it man!

That's how my car sounds every cold start but that's from running e85, I just have to modulate the throttle the first 3 attempts lol With that much fuel in the oil I would take the HPFP apart and look at the O-rings. I replaced mine a couple years ago and my oil changes stopped smelling like straight ethanol. It still has some fuel mixture but from my understanding you can't fully get rid of it with these motors. I haven't logged on to MSF in a long time to see if that changed but that was the consensus when I no lifed that forum from what I can remember. The only other things I can think of are spark plugs, coils, MAF sensor(and wiring), and/or injector seals with how that compression test went. You got this tho! It's getting closer every time it sounds like.

I found out I may have a bad PCM. So you are telling me that with my laptop and Forscan full Windows version (plus USB/OBD2 cable)... Can I either reprogram my PCM or if bad, buy a used (good) PCM and reprogram it? My 2017 Mazda CX-3 keeps giving me a bad MAF/Barometric sensor code. I replaced the MAF OEM Mazda sensor but the problem keeps coming back after 20+ days. I suspect a bad PCM... What about the key fobs? I have been told I can buy a pre-programmed PCM but then I have to take the car (that would not turn on) to a locksmith for reprogramming keys. Would this avoid all of that? Man, I loved this video. Wish I could have seen the secrets lol.

When I changed some parts on mine, it decided to not start. After a lot of trouble shooting I found out tons of fuel got into my oil. Still no idea how it got there. But after I changed the oil it started right up and ran just fine. Just had to change it every hundred miles or so until I was sure no more fuel was getting in, and also to make sure it rinsed all the fuel out to not prematurely wear out any seals.

If you had fuel washing the cylinder walls could be temp sensor related (had a couple of cars do the same for customers). Also since there was sooo much fuel try spraying a bit of oil into each cylinder to try and raise that compression back up.

Does Forscan also allow you to reprogram the VIN on the PCM? I am actually gonna use a VCM-II and Mazda IDS, but not sure if the PCM is able to have the VIN changed if I buy a used PCM instead of a refurbished one. Hoping that Forscan can, cause that would mean that the IDS can for sure.

To be safe you can also rebuild the hpfp seals with one of reys kits that would ensure the fuel isn’t mixing with the oil there

I have a fully rebuilt one with a Rey’s kit ready to go it’s on the rx8 down at the fab shop they are sending it up . I also have another Rey’s kit sitting here at the house that I will rebuild here after In swap my already rebuilt one

You can't. Forscan is only available for ford make (mazda, mercury, ford, lincoln, etc) vehicles. As far as I know there is not a free software available for any other make. However you might be able to obtain the software for GM vehicles for a price. I think the cheapest I have seen is roughly $200.

Are you sure Throttle body is physically opening? Fuel spark air. You get spark and fuel. So timing of spark or your not getting air?

Same motor . Just have to put the MS6 power steering pump on, MS6 alternator (difference in voltage regulator I believe ) , and a few other odds and ends . But the long block is the same

That sounded like it was flooded -- that would also explain fuel in the oil. Pull the power for the fuel pump & if it starts and dies a second later -- you have verified flooding/

Damn I thought for sure the forscan would have worked at reprogramming the keys . Another thing you could do on top of replacing the injectors is if they were dumping fuel into the cylinders it could also foul the plugs out even if they have been replaced recently. What dose the Fuel pressure get to on the access port while key on ? And then while cranking just out of curiosity? I know you will get this figured out buddy don’t give up I feel like you are very close!!

Plugs just changed during all this , pressure was kind of inconsistent that’s why we started looking more closely at fuel after accessing this forscan program and being able to see everything the ecu sees during cranking and while sitting static

Spooling Up Performance . I’m sorry if you have mentioned this before but what HPFP internals do you have and if your getting enough pressure to atomize the fuel at start up or another common issue is the high pressure relief valve they tend to fail pretty often especially on tuned speeds. Idk again sorry if you’ve checked these things but those are definitely possible fuel system issues especially since the car ran fine then just shut off. What you could do idk if you’ve tried but pull the charge pipe off and spray some starting fluid in the intake now that your getting a burble from the exhaust you have to have spark see if she fires. However again I think your on the right truck man.!

You will get it. In the mean time you might want to joint the "Right to Repair" movement. People are fighting to prevent manufacturers from proprietary information locking consumer goods. In other words people are tired of manufacturers going out of their way to make the home mechanic extinct.

I would start with the cam phaser and cam solenoid also check to be sure the clutch is not fused to the fly wheel. Great video keep it coming 👍.

Im not going to say i told you so BUT I told you it was an injector issue, may have fuel pressure etc but if they arent atomizing properly its not going to start. Should have pulled those and had them tested/cleaned. Its an e85 thing lol

Who starts a vehicle for that long. Don't let random people act like mechanics around you. Keeping a vehicle stock is your best option if you want a car or truck to run. You think the professionals who created it haven't thought and tested the best way? Once you start putting aftermarket shit on it. Like that hot air intake and messing with tunes like you know what your doing will mess shit up.

100% flooded I'd say put a better battery on it let it stand without plugs and change the oil Injectors are cheap so I'd change them too up the cc to 1000 or 1200 while your at it. Lol cars are Sooooo much fun... I just bought a 2009 - 95.000km base black mazda 6 for $700. Yes it need a lot of work but worth it in the end.

You are not programming anything I’m pretty sure you can not write codes like C++ you are merely loading up already made software. You are not a programmer I’m sure but a mechanic and mechanic do not know how to write codes

Any decent scan tool will copy PCM and write it to the replacement or you can just scan the vin and instead of accepting it you say know and type in the new one, that simple. I do it in less than 3 minutes. You shouldn't be making videos about things you know nothing about, leading people down the wrong path
