I'm still trying to get my head around when it's applicable to use the SST app and when I should use the software that built in within the application itself, such as FSX controller settings. Also would be good if you could share your X-55 SST profiles for DCS and FSX, or at least, cover what controls are mapped to what functions.

Can you make a video like this that can show us how to map the mouse nipple to the target designater? Its pretty annoying that I cant use it, its been unused ever since I got it. I think alot of users would want to see this, this video is really helpful nut that muse nipple axis needs assigning!

Hey, great video. However, I can't seem to find the download for the Saitek SST software anywhere on Saitek's website, all they have are the plugins for the various simulators (FSX, X-Plane etc.)

Do you know a way to hold a button and have the software make another axis? I want to make my Joystick Y axis change from pitch to vertical strafe while I hold a button. By the way, the game I am playing (Star Citizen) won't accept button+axis for some reason, so I need it to become an axis 3 via the software.

I dont get the rotary knob to work in DCS. I have set it up in the Saitek program, but how does it connect to the sim? I have put it on the formation light on the F5, but nothing happens. Any idea of whats wrong?

G'day Froogle. I was wondering if you had figured out how to create a modifier? Specifically the pinky swtich, so in one mode you can use it to modify another buttons command by holding it down. Awesome video, saved me a lot of frustration!

Hello mate... just got my unit today. I am running latest drivers and software and I am on WIndows 8.1. It seems that the settings part is completely disabled and I can't make any changes to it. Did you have the same problems?

Great Vid...well done. Have you determined how to get Shift, Alt, and Control combined keys to (Hold/fire) when holding down a button down or a switch up or down ? I've tried to program LShift+F to raise flaps to SW3 (F lowers them on SW4) and the testing shows flaps come down fine....but will not raise....test in HUD software shows Shift show up then FFFFFFF and the release Shift F. I see that the old SST Software used to put in a "CTL+F" or "Shift+F" or "ALT+F" to show that the key is an Alt'd, Ctl'd or Shifted key....... Appreciate any tips you may have discovered on this frooglesim Semper Fi AldoUSMC

would it be possible to map a toggle switch to shut off all subsytems in elite dangerous? would like a quicker way to run cold.

Hi and thx a lot for this video. I encounter a big problem and i really don't know how to solve it ; perhaps somone can help me. All the joy button automatically repeat the command if i let it pressed ( the exact counter exemple of the canon shot) . So i mapped for exemple shift + A on the trigger ; when i pull the trigger the command will be SHIFT+A at the start the AAAAAAAAAAAA until i releas. How can i do in order to only have SHIFT+A once eaven if y let the button pressed longer ?

I got my 55 today after 2 months of waiting after i ordered it. Installed drivers then HUD. Everything is working fine except the rudder axis. It isn't registering anything. The white circle in the curvature doesn't appear at all. Any solutions for this? My OS is Win7 x64

Quick question: Do you know how to make the X-55 throttle quadrant actually bring FSX thrust setting to idle when you physically bring the quadrant to their most "idle" position? Can't seem to figure it out. I tend to always see about 10-20% thrust in the sim while they are full back. Thanks in advance if you can help.

I've installed the saitek x55 drivers and software several times now. I don't have ANYTHING with the words "saitek", "rhino" or "x55" in my start menu. What program is this???

Froggle. I have seen your video but i most ask you. You are using a setup for the Blackshark. Where did you find the profile for the Blackshark? and do you have to put it in any library in DCS? I have tried with the Hawk settings for DCS, but i can not get my X55 to Work. In DCS i can not use the throttle since it will not recognice my throttle. It finds stick and throttle, but no buttons is visibly to choose.

Can i ask why it is so hard to just find preloaded config files/layyouts for diffrent games for the X55? i was under the impression it should be easy to upload a config for games with a more 'basic' control (Arma, elite dangerous etc) but it seems impossible to find. Can anyone tell me why? or if im just missing the right places, where one could find it.. or if i misunderstood the concept..

Froogle, does this only work with the x55, and not with other saitek products?

I plan on using my rhino solely with FSX....and want to program it thru FSUIPC. In this case, do I need to use saitek's software? Will I be missing out on any functionality?

Hi, thankyou for this video, helped me alot. I am trying to set mine up for the SU-25T, and I want to use mode switches to switch between NAV, A-A and A-G and switch over so I can program different setups for each mode. Do you know whether or not this is possible. For example while in NAV mode I want to set the switches to control the autopilot., then when I switch to mode two A-A, use the switches to turn on shkval and rty knobs to do a similar thing that you did in the video, is that possible.

hey froogle i got the x55 rhino installed the drivers and after a while after i quit dcs world my computer will stop allowing me to open and close windows and when i right click nothing happens its probably a windows 8.1 issue didn't know if you encountered this issue at all and was looking for some guidance on how to fix it by someone who isn't gonna tell me to restart my computer

Do you have a mapping profile for X-55 for DCS:KA-50 you could share? I'm new to DCS and having a profile as a reference would be really helpful. I might end up changing it a lot with the tips i learned from this video but would use it as an reference. My X-55 is going to arrive next week and can't wait to get into DCS properly. Btw thank you. Your X-55 review and this video made me buy X-55 and you made me fell in love with DCS:KA-50. I already bought DCS:KA-50 and I'm now playing it with Logitech Extreme 3D Pro which is pretty bad for a simulator with a lot of key bindings. I have done the programming so i have the buttons doing what i want them to do. I then save and profile it. When i go into the game it doesn't do what i want them to do (it goes back to default settings) why is it doing this and what can i do to solve it.

I might be a Little stupid, but i dont get it. I have a pr0 file from X-55 profile for the F5 Tigershark, but DCS use a Diff.lua file. How do you get a X-55 pr0 file in to DCS sim??? I just dont get it! And this blue point in Rhino programming software do not appear blue with mine....

In regards to Elite Dangerous, why not just use the in game set up function for the x55?

While I will ultimately have to program using the HUD software to get my TrackIR Center Command to work in DCS Black Shark (all the DCS Mods actually) and to have a PTT hotas button for TS, I have done ALL my flight commands using DCS Options. But I am getting some Really Weird stuff going on. For a while I'd be flying and the next thing you know, the BS would start going into an Auto Startup or Auto Shutdown ... neither of which is conducive to flying when you are already in the air !! While I seem to have somehow eliminated that issue, I STILL end up with the Door Opening by itself while I'm flying ... or the BS Hud View automatically coming up OR my Kneeboard automatically coming up. I am definitely NOT hitting any buttons for those things to happen. It's driving me crazy. The X-55 is a dream to fly with ... when it's working right, but I seriously need some help to overcome the above-mentioned issues. Any Idea Froogle ? PS> Are you available for some Private Lessons ... specifically with regards to X-55 Setup in DCS and maybe a couple things in the Ka-50 ? I'd be willing to Pay $$$ for your time and help (via PayPal ? or Email Money Transfer ... whichever you prefer). Seriously !!

Programming the trigger to repeat fire doesn't seem to be working for me (in Flaming Cliffs 3). I hold the trigger and release it but it continues to repeat the key until I pull the trigger again, the it releases.

Hello, I have a question and I hope somebody can help me. I have set the rotaries on the Throttle as Bands and programmed key strokes for the upper and lower values as described in the video. Now the problem I have is, that the keystrokes are being held as long as the rotary is in the section where the bands are set up. I would like to make only ONE hit on the key when the rotary gets to the appropriate position and even if it will stay in that position, it will not make any more key hits unless I will move it to center and back to the position where the key stroke is set. Is it possible?

Has anyone gotten the damn SBK button to fire it's command just once? If I setup an advanced command and make it do for example Airbrake in the SU-25T, A10C or any FC3 module or Shkval zoom on the Black Shark it will continuously fire that button until released.. Is there a way to make it click a keypress once and just once.

Hi I am struggling a lot with my programming, on minute 6;27 when you tell to select new advanced command I don't have that choice. The choice are unprogramed, fall back, bands, directional axis, mouse Y and mouse X. Thanks for your help

Froogle, I've noticed this in all your videos and really want to know how to do this, if I was to be on a different program like that while FSX is running, as soon as I would click to that program fsx will pause, yours seems to always stay running, do you know why this is?
