Bigger propellor maybe? The motor seems to have plenty power. Make it go moar faster. ... oh ... and a bigger hull ... less sinky.

Lowered motor for stability but to make it faster still will have to dramatically lower the weight.

prop size matters less then the angle of the prop blades, a bigger prop wont make it faster.

That's a nice little boat, may I suggest putting the burner flue towards the bottom of the boiler instead of the center, it'll give you more runtime as it takes longer for the the flue to get exposed and stop making (as much) steam.

I think it's just because it's really heavy. That propane tank combined with the boiler should be at least 20lbs, if not more.

Should have definitely build Jet at the back. Would have more control with steering and propeller would have better flow = thrust. Overall great project!!! Well done and you have amazed me with your skills once again. Keep it up!!

The Scott Boiler with its hanging water tube loops and coiled superheater is a thing of steam beauty. Lots of fiddly welds but this guy would be fine.

very good project. the steam turbine is paramount ! But the hull have to be improved . Bigger, lighter. A catamaran with two floaters, maybe is a better choice.

The impact gun "barrel motor" recycling was a pretty good idea. I think that a lower center of gravity and a bit lesss weight would be better.

Not big enough body for the weight. Make a larger body. Fill everything you can with expanding foam. And paint the dam thing green and it won't sink. Everything you've built is green and you paint this one orange. You gotta lay off the sauce brother hahaha

Great to see steam used used for anything anymore. Heavy drivetrain, set that boiler at the bottom of the boat. Your work it top notch. I've been in the steam buisness my entire career, (since 1981) and always enjoy seeing steam things, your build is fantastic. Well done.

It's actually theorized that that's how ships sink in the Bermuda triangle. Namely, that bubbles rising up in the water reduce the bouyancy of ships floating on it and causes them to sink.

I heard this explication back in the days where fhe triangle was still famous. But later i found out that the number of ships sunken in the triangle is not higher than in other places of the world Bermuda triangle was just a myth popularized by the media

you should figure out a way to use the river water to generate the steam. then you could run it for as long as there is gas and you would also reduce the weight of the boat because you wont need to keep water on board, this can be done with that coil im sure of it. also have the steam exhaust in the water to assist with propulsion. this is a phenominal build sir, well done

Up size hull with carbon fibre , match prop to drive capacity , balance point 29% from back of transom. Adjustable drive angle. The need for speed!!!!

Prop is running in cavitation. Also I think the motor is crazy inefficient in comparison to a steam piston drive. Really cool project though. I would love to see you improve the design.

This boat has the power to go fast but it cant because the prop is too high, I build fiberglass rc boats and many of my first boats were cavitating just like yours(sucking air and creating a pocket of air around the prop) if you simply drop the prop 2-3 inches lower, I garuntee you could hit 10mph👍😁

Instead of direct steam drive, a piston model would have more efficient , RPM to torque ratio..

nice project. but you should work on your tig skills a bit. they look a kinda rough, especially on the small stuff. also no need to use the pulse function all the time. otherwise great work

The Workshop stuff seems to get the Green and the mobile stuff like bikes and boats seem to get the Orange. Just my observations.

Nice job all the way through, especially the fine thread cutting, and the engine. I was thinking, when I saw how low in the water the sides were when you turned, that you might should fill the empty spaces in the hull with styrofoam, if you wanted to keep the large fuel tank. I hope you had an easy recovery. With your design and the materials you used, there shouldn't have been much, if any, water damage. Very enjoyable video. Thanks.

Add an aeration tube to the prop and she will go A LOT faster. You can fine tune performance from there.

Nice work! but i think you need a more big propeller! Add some weight at the bootom of the boat, for example a lead casting directly fused on boat

i would suggest moving the water tank lower into the hull and just have a pipe that redirects the flame,you center of gravity seems a little too hig, the boat was pretty tippy. also some foam or weld some enclosures inside the hull in spaces that are ocupiecd could save the boat from the sink in the end lol

Yes it was satisfying to watch the build and test and even more satisfying to see it sink like a rock as I thought it would with that huge gas bottle in it lol 😂👍.. im a boilermaker/welder and ur welding passes the pressure test, I've seen guys go back multiple times to tack leaking places up till theres no more leaks lmfao, I love working with metal and you have done a good job here with everything and I had as much fun watching this as you had building and testing it.. submarine mode was the highlight for me , I was watching pop pop boat builds and ended up ere actualy 🤣😂✌

Maybe a bit of cavitation on the Propeller? try a more flat Angle on the propeller or reduce the Propellerspeed (greater Gear Ratio).... A fine Project, respect.

Foam body will lighten alot of the load and increase the buoyancy. Bigger boat and prop should be an interesting speed boat.

a longer propeller shaft or change the end of the hull to have a more hydrodynamic propensity to flow the liquid. try to lower the center of gravity by placing the boiler on the bottom of the boat

What would be even cooler is if it was totally steam powered. Like on the inside if the prop shaft drove a generator (dc motor) to charge and power the battery for the servos.
