Good job. Enjoyed it. Visited Dave West's shop this past week. Nice guy. Glad you got a workable gearbox. I used to struggle with U-joints when I worked as a mechanic. The shop "ate" the cost of the first few that I destroyed dropping a roller while pressing in the cups. Finally boss said I'd have to pay for the next one I broke. Never had another problem. ;)

That oil pour 🔥🔥

PS: The steering box is supposed to have oil in it. But instead of replacing the seal on my PV's box when the oil leaked out, I filled it with grease. Just as a temporary measure. About 20 years ago. It's still fine.

Should do 90 but mostly because you have the low 4.56 axle. They do get very noisy inside with the M40 top gear and the axles used are also known for their noise. Saloons have a different diff and are better. Not swappable unfortunately. Steering box uses oil. Use the same as the back axle. Leaky lower seal common so keep an eye on the level. No new parts to replace worn worm and gear are available. M41 is excellent on these. VERY bad practice to press in bearings with the centre. Engine prefers 20-50. Rotella is basically a diesel oil and was OK until they lowered the zinc levels. Flat tappet Volvo engines like zinc to be 1200-1500 ppm. GM do a ZDDP additive but use sparingly.

Were the tight (zero clearance) valves on the exhausts? Hope you're not getting valve seat recession. Leaded gas used to keep that from happening back in the day.

I should’ve noted what they were before adjusting them but honestly I don’t remember.
