Climate change, sustainability, energy efficiency and emissions reductions are just some of the pressing challenges that public sector bodies are working to solve. These challenges are complex and not only require a knowledge of the issues at hand, but also require skills that are possessed by project managers such as effective planning and delivery of multiple tasks, risk identification and mitigation, and promoting change.
The final Project Manager Network meeting of 2022 focuses on two sustainability programmes taking place within the public sector. Alan Ryan, Programme Manager for the Public Sector Energy Programme in the Sustainable Energy Authority Ireland share more information about the programme and how project management skills support its effective delivery, both within the SEAI but also in the public bodies they engage with. Lieutenant Colonel Kevin Higgins, Irish Defence Forces, shares more detail on their decarbonisation programme, which is just one of a number of climate related initiatives that the Irish Defence Forces are implementing.
