I sold this car in October 2023. I was contacted by the father of the buyer in November asking if I wanted to buy it back due to being stitched up by the insurance company on where they believed the owner, Poppy lived. They demanded several thousand pounds or they would cancel the policy. Thanks to one of the channels subscribers, I was told the car was at BCA. It turned out that Poppy tried to sell it and couldn't so made a loss at WBAC and it ended up in BCA, Crawley. I bought it back, and did very little and sold it again, for the same price!

100% right to think you should give a helping hand to the young lady. She should have gone to the Insurance Ombudsman to challenge their decision. Shocking behaviour.

Persnally I wouldn't give her anything as if I remember right you gave her something when you collected it from the school and fixed it. If you had wanted to do her a favour you could of took it sale or return when she tried selling to you. She or her family had agreed there deal and that was that you bought it and have agreed your deal some people may think by giving her money you feel as though you have been underhand as may the family if you contact them people can be funny so just leave as it is in my opinion bussiness is bussiness and you have and will take losses along the way

I think I did give her £20 for petrol if I remember rightly and it cost me £70 to get it home. Still undecided.

That would be a nice thing to do Paul, in todays world circumstances can change so quickly for people. Insurance companies seem to be a law unto themselves . At least a bit of money back she wasnt expecting will help her feel a bit better although in reality asking more than they paid for it wasnt the best thing to do for a quick sale . Probably panicked with insurance company revoking policy.

The good thing about a Duologic box is Reverse. R is Backwards on the stick whilst all other boxes to get R move the stick Forwards! (WHAT 🙄🙄) Fiat got this right

Project too minty, the gift that keeps giving. With regards to Poppy, it's your call. Personally I wouldn't as you'll open the flood gates to other buyers of your cars because they may follow your channel and think you are a soft target for issues on their cars in the near future.

I thought that too but then poppy’s situation is quite a unique one and we buy any car will have ripped her right off, I really feel for her with what has happened to her 😔

I've got the Dualogic box and I was a bit confused at first when driving, but it's dead easy to drive. I am not great using the man mode, but I would probably get used to it if I had to. I would have preferred a conventional auto,they look nicer, but it is fine. That would be a nice gesture to the other buyer, and it would strengthen your reputation,though I would say your the kind of person who would do it anyway Paul . It's nice to think there are honest people around these days.

Whilst I totally agree that you're not a charity I also hold you in the class if being a fair bloke and giving Poppy a couple of hundred quid takes the harshness off the bitter pill she and her family have had to swallow because of the insurance company parasites Good on you matey kindness is always rewarded in life and the beyond hopefully lol Good to see a fiat repair video again and the Amazon mount is totally pony

You didn't show the ripping out and stamping on of the Telematics box It's your second bite of the cherry with this one so I'd say split the profit you make this time round with Poppy, I think it would be good for your business reputation in the long run.

@love500 Have you ever tried the Aliexpress Fiat 500 radio's with the touch screen blue tooth? They aren't as cheap as the option which you are showing, but are still very easy to install and don't get in the way of the window screen if that is an issue for you. The air vents are compromised some, but do sill flow air, you just can no longer position it. Maybe it would be worth trying one for us all to see?

Paul as in my opinion u should not give anything to her as it’s making u an easy touch for everyone as this is my opinion on this matter. As ur in the business for making money and not for being a business that loses money on cars.

I like to think I'm a nice bloke & would do owt for anybody but i wouldn't give her anything. Shouldn't have left it parked up at her Dads, knew it was a dodgy area, should've complained to insurance ombudsman, would've won case as clearly was on holiday & also shouldn't have been greedy by asking for £500 more than she'd paid for it, might've sold it 🤷 Some people really don't help themselves so don't deserve a handout. Bit harsh? Sorry.

If I recall you do this as a hobby….rather than money making. I think you already know, what you’re going to do, I’d definitely be feeling the same. Absolutely no fault of yours that Poppy or her dad had to sell, so I’m struggling to see how this would open the floodgates as several have suggested. Good reputation goes a long way.

Am I getting it right, the insurance company had a GPS tracker or something like that, and they stated the car is not in the area where owner supposed to live ? Then they said that according to their policy you have to pay 3000 GBP ? Wow.

Yes. As a young driver she had a “black box” as most young drivers do now which measures everything about the manner of your driving. Because they had seen it more at her dad’s address than her mums their algorithm or some job pissed clerk decided to stitch her up.

Looking at the situation logically, there is no need to donate anything. So the buyer had problems with the insurance, but that was their own fault for keeping the car at wrong address. Clearly the insurer was going to find out as car had a tracker installed. If they had lost money because of something you did, then fair enough donate. Telling buyers that the media screens need to be removed for MOT implies you know they are illegal, so in event of an insurance claim they could say you sold an unsafe car. You need to tread carefully as you definitely come under car dealer regulations 👍

Mot testers get the hump and often remove air freshners. It’s not that they block the windscreen because they don’t, it’s more of having something on the dash.

I don't understand why she couldn't sell it for the same amount you just did ? Anyway can you explain how you installed the power cable for the multimedia screen .... I've got one and need to hide that cable behind the dash cheers

I do it in all my recent videos. Remove the stereo, remove the vents. I take out the parcel tray too do you can feed the cable down and grab it with your other hand. Cut a notch out of the back of the vent where it meets the bit behind the dash so the wire won’t get trapped. Take apart the vent and feed the cable through from the rear. Seems like a faff but only really takes 10 minutes or so.

No, no ,no, definitely, not, not your problem, she couldn’t sell it. Also after I paid £95 to have my blue & me repaired, I bought a portable apple carplay unit, but have decided as I bought a leather dashboard cover for the 500 an new head unit would be better. Am I better removing the blue & me or will that start the mileage flashing again?

Yes you4 mileage will flash until you do a proxy alignment. By the way, I repair them for £60.

Wow, I didn’t know that, could have saved £35, will need to see if anyone on the fiat forum can do one near Glasgow. How does it work? Program it out 1st then do the proxy alignment?

@@alexmacdonald4270 if do a proxy alignment, will know it's missing. This sometimes completes and it still flashes. Before you do it you need to go into every ECU (body, dash and airbag) and clear any codes. You may need to go back and do it several times. You get a proxy data error but it will eventually go. Took me 5 attempts recently.

No you shouldn't give her money she should have completed to the insurance ombudsman if she had proof of her holiday they would have upheld her claim against the insurance company I've had customers with similar problems. You can have the best customers you never get the whole truth if they was going to sell it to we buy any car they should have come back to you again and asked if you can better their offer

The ombudsman would throw the claim out because car was being keep for over 2 weeks at a different address to what she stated as her home address. The fact it never moved makes no difference, probably more likely to have been stolen or broken into. It's rule breakers like that who fuel the premium hikes for everyone else.

It’s up to you ultimately - but if you’ve made a reasonable return on it, for not a lot of time invested, then a gesture to Poppy might be nice. It’s around 10% of the profit, and it’ll buy you a bit of karma.
