I’m in for seeing you train her. Puts me back in the saddle hearing my old man tell me not to let the horse “get away with that.” Your videos bring back memories I have long forgotten. Horses and hounds are a great thrill but a lot of work. Keeping the horses and hounds and yourself all legged up never stops. Talking about tack and briddles also brings back memories. Ya gotta customize it to the horse and the needs of the rider. There are so many choices. It’ll be interesting to see how you both get accustomed to one another. Thanks for sharing. You’ve got your hands full with videos, hounds, mules and family. As you say “Onward and Upward”

I was really lucky my dad and grandfather that I never knew but him and dad used to work mules they would go around and buy young mules they broke and trained them for the army when they used them so he would guide me about the miles I got they would ride them pack for anyone could use them hr took the miles to laythop mo. to sell the they still have mule days there every year but dad coached me because we always had horses horses like you a mule has to think things over much more than a horse and needs a little bit more time but they will never hurt themselves if they can help it hennys are so much better than a mule if you get the chance to get one buy it I thought jet was one he looked a lot like one the are prettier than a. mule and act more like a horse I think I really like them to train if I had my choice that would be all I owned but they are rare to get around here not many horses studs will breed with a molly mare but when they do it it's fore life

I have 3 left. Dixie Chick is out of a sweet natured APHA mare & is a strawberry roan. Sweet mule. Wants to please. Would make a great trail mule. Mule number 2 is out of a spotted American Gaited mare. He is black/dark brown with 4 stocking. Had 6 was professional training and with a little attention would make a lovely riding mule. Has easy way of going. Mule number 3 is the youngest, but is the biggest. She is black out of a black and white foxtrot mare. I haven't done much with her, but wants a job. They are being wasted in the pasture.

Brett I think that might be the prettiest mule I’ve seen on the channel. She sure dresses up nice and acts like there’s a brain in her head. Seems to me like she was babied as a foal, given treats and taught some things but wasn’t taught personal space or manners. She’ll learn how you want it and she’ll get right. No idea what you gave for her, but she is going to be worth 3 or 4 times that in a year.

Bonnie is a beautiful mule. Your experiences are very similar to mine. I started riding when I was a toddler and grew up with horses, my dad liked mules also, me not as much. He was born early in the 1900s and used horses on the farm so I learned how to ride and drive horses. We raised many colts over the years and I trained most of them at least halter broke and some to ride and drive. I used to use a halter with a rope with 2 snaps attached to either side of the halter at the side ring for my bosal. I think the reason some animals like to be in your space is because they trust and want your attention, it can be a problem because I have had horses almost run me over also, yeah trailers are dangerous especially when they turn around. You might have already but I was wondering if you could show more of your saddle and pack setup, the saddle looks like a heavy horn and high back cantle.i haven't ridden in some years now because I'm all beat up. Thanks for sharing your video and showing off Bonnie to us in KZfaq land.🐴🇺🇸🐕🐕🐕

She may be a little pushy with you, but she has good bones, and a real sweet head, and great eyes. I like how she stood very poised whole being saddled, and she seems to listen to you very well. Shoot, the dogs didn't bother her one bit either. She's a dandy. I'll be waiting to see her run a reining pattern and become a 55k mule! PS: Ha! Do you known what kind of feed she was on? For example high in starch? I've trained barrel horses for over 30yrs and over 75% of the horses that I got in that were like your mule just by putting them on a low starch feed that used rice bran for energy after a few weeks of the diet change made a huge difference and they also kept their weight easier took way less feed to keep them. Some horses can't handle the sugar from starch. The owners were always amazed at the difference in their horses attitude and how they weren't spooky. I agree with you completely about feeding tons of grain. If you feed good hay and good minerals, most don't need anything else. I really like your new mule she looks great
