Project Zomboid is literally what I wanted every zombie survival game like DayZ to be like. I think the larger focus on singleplayer for some time before tackling on the multiplayer (I know it had a version of it before) allowed them to really hone in on the overall experience of the game and not rely on organic gameplay from play interactions. Games like DayZ and H1Z1 always end up falling into the same loop where zombies just become obstacles and other players become the threat. In PZ, everything is a threat and especially the zombies. And the more basic rudimentary graphic and animation really helps sell it too imo. We're not busy looking at the graphics and comparing them to real life and other games, no expectations of animations where a single jank makes it look off, something simple. It lets there be more focus on all the other ambience of it. They got that zombie scare down too with the violin (?) string that plays when you see one suddenly.

Most zombie games are flashy action titles. PZ is a very deep & authentic zombie survival simulator. The graphics may look simple, but actually come with great detail, like localized weather, seasons, and even erosion where nature takes back the world over time, making the game look more like The Last of Us after a year or so. There are so many mechanics that aren't obvious at first, making this a very detailed survival experience, even without the zombies. You can also pickup almost anything and place it back down, which often make people compare it to being the Sims with zombies. On top of all that are the very customizable sandbox settings, as well as the insanely dedicated modding community, pushing the game to even further heights & personal customization. I'm with this game for a decade now, and am super glad it finally got the attention it deserves. There's great stuff planned for the future too!

If you watch the main menu long enough when the lightning flashes you can see the dude is eating the woman. For a while, I thought they were like hugging in a corner.

What I love about this game is that most often than not it's not the fights with zombies that ends you but rather during times when your guard is down and you least suspect it that a zombie manages to sneak in and takes a chunk out of your neck.

Looks more enjoyable than a lot of these style of game

Makes me so happy this game is getting the spot light it deserves, it's flown under the radar for a while. Even back in 2014, tho it didn't have cars it had MP with workshop support and even then deserved more attention. Wasn't as pretty now with the 3d anims and all but was and will always be an amazing game

This was pretty entertaining! Keep it up. I also get what you mean by comforting. It gives you this nice feeling when you hoard canned food, water and building materials ... just like sleeping in the woods during winter in a comfy-and-warm-as-duck sleeping bag. Or prepping.

Zomboid is a gem of a game (I've had it since 2015 and it has evolved into an amazing game.) it's one of those rare games where gameplay is everything and shiny graphics are secondary. (the graphics are still kinda cool tho) I don't think I've played another game that has systems that are so deep. (especially once you get into using mods) as far as scratches, there is a percentage that a scratch will become infected, I think it's 7%, a laceration has 25% of being fatal (even if the cut seems to be healed in your health menu you can still eventually die of infection) you start by getting hot, then nauseous then you eventually die. I guess you can get blood poisoning or something. you can also disinfect bandages by boiling them in a cooking pot or you can use bourbon to disinfect your bandages that you will find in bars and liquor stores

As much as i love playing Zomboid in Multiplayer.. i kind of feel like being able to simply respawn and return to your corpse to get all your stuff back takes away a lot of the stakes in this game. I enjoy playing singleplayer a lot and usually delete my world whenever i die and start from the beginning. That makes me value my life a lot more lol. In MP i feel like the only way to accomplish that would be hardcore servers, that blacklist you whenever you die.. which would in return hurt the server's playerbase.

This game is unique and I don't think any other game will ever match its depth and simulation its amazing you can do so much

I remember waiting for this game to come out, and I played the very first public release. It's amazing to see how far it's come, and I'm both happy and confused to see it suddenly go viral after a decade.

In the years I became so fed up about dealing with people on multiplayer servers, because there was always nonsense and hackers that ruined the experience. Nowadays I only game with my IRL friends in local multiplayer. It's WAY fun than playing with random strangers, where you can find spoiled kids or egoistic people. Few but good always wins for me.

Jim Bob is the true MVP of this run.

The thing that makes zomboid amazing for me is not only just the game but the mods are insanely fun

i recently bought pz and had a super cool experience which i will now share: I had recently taken up camp in a small house in rosewood and night was falling (i had taken the mistake of sleeping during the day so now my sleep schedule ingame is just as messed up as it is irl, which is a super cool detail) and i was about to leave to do some exploration when i hear hands scraping on glass. i look out the window and see a zombie inside the house adjacent slapping the window while kneeling on the sink (again, a very cool detail) and so i figured i could ignore him. while my back is turned i hear glass shatter, so i go back and check the other house's window to realize the window broke, the zombie was now outside and probably coming for me. The house already had a shattered window in the bathroom which i had unglassed, and i got jumped while checking (i did survive tho)

I love how Jim Bob stands there in hazmat suit as if hes waiting for you to turn looking professional only to turn around to have a bunny tail

Yooo lucky you have a chill instructor when you joined the server. When I first played and joined a community server, it wasn't the nicest welcome I've received😂😂 especially when my brother and his friend was in it. I joined a server where my brother (Jak) was in it for atleast a month or two. He became my instructor and he let me joined their faction. He wasn't the chillest and nicest instructor at all (as expected😅). When I got my first scratch from the zombie, he got mad. When I first tripped, he got mad. When I fight the zeds wrong, he would scold me harshly. When I got my first bitten :)), you know it. On top of that, his friend (Bob) was in the faction too and wasn't the chillest one too😂. If my memory serves me right, everytime we see each other he woukd talk to me in a demanding voice which I didn't like it. They would both watch my every move and will see if I was contributing to the faction or not. Everytime I ask my brother a question how to do this or that, he would give me this irritated tone and it wasn't helping me to play smoothly. I gotta admit I was uncomfortable with my first playthrough. I was so scared to make a fool out of myself because there's other peps in the faction and I didn't want to be a burden to them. I didn't have time to explore and to make mistakes properly to learn. I would lose motivation everytime I get bit or make an combat error. I know Jak and Bob want me to get better but don't expect I can change overnight because I was just a newbie. My survival and combat skills only got better when I tried playing in my solo world and gotta admit I died many times but that's ok atleast I'm getting a hang of it. Each dead taught me a lesson. I didn't want to practice on the server becuz I'll be a burden so I only practice at solo. Because of that, I'm startng to get use to the server (butnotwiththesprintersyetbecuzthey'refkterrifiying) and ignoring unnescessary comments. Wow it looks like I ranting my first pz experince here but oh well, I dont givr a f--.

I just got this game. Died a few times before day 3 but ive finally gotten to day 13 with my most recent character with 200 zombies killed. Spawned at a trailer park and managed to get away to rosewood. Found a car and a gas can and booked it to west point. From there im gonna try to build a base and see if i can figure construction out. Doubt ill make it to 30 days but if i do thatd be awesome!

Your friend was half right, Spears are frkn dogshit at early levels, but if you level up atleast maintenance, you'll turn that weapon into an insta killing beast. If you know when to not instakill of course, cuz animations that can't be cancelled are death sentences in this game.

I'm so glad KZfaq recommend a PZ video to me (Even though i never watch anything related to PZ). I've download the game, i gotta say it's not like any other zombie game. It's really hard to play especially when i tried to play it alone...

Some people think a game has to have amazing graphics to make it a great game. Zomboid is an exception to the rule, true it looks like it should be an android game, but where it lacks graphics it excels in everything else

I thought it was an asometric l4d but with necessities, on my first playthrough. Found a revolver with 3 bullets. Shot all my bullets at a zombie and didn't hit it once, the I thought it was a bug and didn't play the game for a while. Then I watched videos on pz and it ended up being my favourite game.

the truth is without another person and on apocalypse difficulty (the default and hardest difficulty) the game is realistically brutal to the point it should be called a torture device.
